Thx Amika and yes Mulder we WILL be back and stronger indeed. It's the end of an era for Holland cause a few players won't be at the WC in 5 years or even the EC in 3 years but there are a lot of talented youngsters out there to take their places like Rafael van der Vaart for Cocu (very very talented and gifted), Johnny Heitinga (most talented player last year) for F.de Boer or Numan, van der Gun, van der Meijden (all Ajax).
Jon van Beukering, Mustapha (Vitesse) etc etc so Holland will be back for sure but for now it's curtains sadly enough and credit to the Irish although they had the German ref on their hands all the way.
Don't forget that there are still young players enough in the Dutch national team who will be playing another championship like Hofland, Zenden, Kluivert, Gio, Melchiot.
Untill the next time then.

The dutch will be missed at the World Cup cos they are a world class team and would be one of the favorites to win it.

But how can u say the ref was on Ireland's side when he sent 1 of their players off.
I wouldn't call that biased towards them would u????

I watched the match and it seems the Dutch didn't play to their full ability so don't take it away from Irelands strong performance by saying the ref was on their side.

Though its a shame the Dutch won't be at the World Cup.

It was clearly a penalty when Given floored v Nistelrooy on his way to the goal because everyone knows that it would've been a goal for Holland! It was a foul, a great foul and I was amazed that they didn't got a penalty out of it. The referee was biased as hell cause most freekicks and throw-ins were for Ireland and the ref was German and they can't stand the Dutch and vice versa.
Why oh why did the fifa assign a German ref for this crucial game.
Holland lost because Ireland was better and congrats to them, Ireland played with their heart and soul. I watched a totally different team play against England two weeks ago. I wish that Holland would play more like they give a damn  like when they played against England but it was a poor display last Saturday instead.
I'm mad, dissapointed but on the other hand..
Holland does not deserve to go to the WC, not the way they play right now.

I just have to say this (mind you, i'm religiously an orange fan).

Silencer, even if the dutch were given that penalty, you should know that we don't like penalties. Look at Euro2000 against Italy, 2 penalties during the match! Italy a man down, still oranger were not able to crack. I have followed this generation of orange for sometime, and this is their problem...consistancy. I will not point fingers or name names. However, if the orange don't finish any of their first 4 good opportunities, forget about it. They go numb. they are just not consistant enough to finish the opportunities they are given. Orange always plays like orange, using the width of the field, knocking the ball around, occasional long ball, etc etc but if the don't finish, they are only fun to watch, nothing more. Ireland finished one of the 3 opportunities they had on goal.

Yeah and maybe you think that Germans like more Irish than Dutch people? Let me doubt abour it, and seriously it's a professional referee, he wouldn't be named for this match if he wasn't professional enough...And anyway if it was a draw, do you think Holland would qualify?

First of the_man I have to agree with you, they would've probably missed the penalty if they had one and no I don't think that they would have qualified with a draw, how stupid do you think I am

It's a damn coincidence that they appointed a German ref. for the game. B A D LUCK that's all I wanted to say.
That damn Greek ref should've given Holland two penalties today against Estonia but I guess they make their own rules instead of upholding the gamerules

You can blame the refs as much as you want. But the fact is that Holland didn't play good enough throughout all the qualifiers and thats why there not going to be there next year.

I think you are all over reacting over this one match, though i must say that Holland did under perform, it was not just this one match that brang about there undoing, it was other poor performances.
And as for the ref, well it seems every time the Dutch lose they blame the ref, the blame lies soley on the players, Holland did not desreve to qualify and i fell that there is no team more desrveing than Ireland, who should qualify for 2002, the Irish havecome o so close for the past few years in qualifying for euro 2000 and France 98. And before the current qualifiers they were written off by the critics, but to their credit they have performed like the great team they are.

Holland could be back stronger, but no one can so sure about this, who'll expect them to be eliminated this time, after they played so well in these recent years.

Now, we might lose the samba as well to pack stadiums.
