View Full Version : Holland lost against Ireland !!! the_man 01-09-2001, 07:00:PM mocking a team's downfall, is not good. It is a sad day in Dutch soccer, we will miss them in the WC :( Congrats to Ireland. ZePenguin 01-09-2001, 07:18:PM Yeah but the Dutch always think they are the best, so that can teach them a lesson of humility, i was watching the game on the dutch television and the commentator was always saying that there was a foul here, a penalty there, that someone pushed kluivert in the back, etc, etc... And Ireland deserved that win, they scored with one man down, they deserve to go to world cup, thats all your_worst_night_mare 01-09-2001, 07:40:PM Do they really lost? Alex C. 01-09-2001, 07:51:PM Holland will be totally disqualified for the World Cup when Portugal wins tonight iceboy 01-09-2001, 08:01:PM Hollad lose to 10 men Ireland is indeed humilation to the dutch, and the greatest dreams of all Ireland supporters. Wil miss Holland in the world cup, and would love to see how Ireland performs. :) your_worst_night_mare 01-09-2001, 09:19:PM It's this a dream? I don't believe this. :( the_man 01-09-2001, 09:49:PM It's not a dream its a night mare, heh ZePenguin, I don't know why you think Holland thinks they are the best. The only major tournament they have won is Euro. They always fail in the world cup. They don't always think they are the best, they play the best kind of attacking football, it's just a matter of if they finish their chances or not. Case in point, Euro2000 against Italy. If you saw that game, you will realize that the dutch had 2 penalties, hit the woodwork onces, numerous chances and still didn't score. I don't think God is with the Netherlands, they better repent for any sins because this is getting beyond bad luck, heh. Han 01-09-2001, 10:59:PM I am very disappointed with Holland's performance. But Ireland played the right tactics to make us look badly: they chased every Dutchman over the pitch, as I already expected. Apart from missing some chances at the start of the match we can complain getting no penalty after the goalkeeper brought van Nistelrooy down. But when you don't score from your chances you can't expect to win. Congratiulations to Ireland, see you back on the World Cup! Broodrooster 02-09-2001, 12:53:AM Dreams collapsed... The penalty against portugal in the 93 minute that killed us... Ireland, that gets 1 change in 90 minutes and scores... I am ignoring the belgian... Everyone knows there is a rivallery between the belgium and the dutch,... allthough they will go to the world cup and we will not, that doesn't mean that belgium is better.... But we will return, and get our revenge... Watch us in Portugal 2004... For all teams participating in the WC, good luck to you... I just cant get it togheter... I even cried cause they losed the match (NO I AM NOT A MINOR OR KID), I still can't beleive we are eliminated this must be a dream.. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooo *sigh* :( Vishal 02-09-2001, 02:26:AM This is the worst that could happen. The Netherlands are a good team. They should have been in the WC, A loss for the fans and they will be sorely missed. Brodeur 02-09-2001, 03:30:AM Why??? I will miss many great players from Holland: Cocu, Seedorf, Kluivert, Overmars and Davids. The WC will be really different without them. I didn't want those Irish in the WC, but I guess I'll have to... :( dsh 02-09-2001, 03:33:AM Originally posted by ZePenguin: Yeah but the Dutch always think they are the best, so that can teach them a lesson of humility, i was watching the game on the dutch television and the commentator was always saying that there was a foul here, a penalty there, that someone pushed kluivert in the back, etc, etc... And Ireland deserved that win, they scored with one man down, they deserve to go to world cup, thats all holland were disappointing, that is true. however, they weren't dreadful throughout qualifying and were placed in a very difficult group -- ireland are almost always in the world cup, and portugal are one of the best teams in the world at present. the dutch have always had their ego problems, but i think perhaps other teams have a lot of ego in their ranks too. as for the commentators, i doubt you'd hear any commentator NOT giving the benefit of the doubt to his own team when something as borderline as a penalty appeal or a questionable foul occurs. the dutch always think they are the best because they have the talent to be among the best. four years from now, they'll STILL have the talent and they'll STILL think that way. this isn't any sort of lesson about humility, and if anything was, the shootout loss to italy was. they were coming off a 2-0 victory over a streaking england team, so they undoubtedly had confidence coming into the match with ireland. there isn't anything wrong with that, and in my opinion ireland and portugal have deserved the success they've had. this world cup just won't be the same without the dutch, though. Alenitchev 02-09-2001, 03:41:AM Portugal won 7-1... As Oliveira said "only those who perform well and win" will be missed. Anyway, It's a shame that they will not qualify :( your_worst_night_mare 02-09-2001, 03:42:AM Originally posted by Brodeur: Why??? In 1994 it was England and France - but what happened later? They kinda sacrificed the USA'94 and went to be good teams later in 96 and 98... ZePenguin 02-09-2001, 06:53:AM and they are practically eliminated !!! buahahaha :D :D Broodrooster 02-09-2001, 11:24:AM the last time Holland missed a big tournament was in 1986 the wc in mexico, but two years later they became european champion... France missed the wc in 1994, but 4 years later they won the wc... Its a revenge!!!!!!!!!!! Luc Nilis 02-09-2001, 04:47:PM Hmmm... The wk 86... Oh yeah! By wich team were Holland beaten back then again? :D No, just kidding! ;) Unlike my fellow countryman i think it's a shame Holland wont go to the WC because they do bring some atractive footall... :( Well, with the talent they have i'm quiet sure they will be present at the EK 02, so see you then. ZePenguin 02-09-2001, 07:10:PM Yeah but in 4 years Holland wont organize the world cup, like france did, and maybe they wouldn't qualify if they didn't organized it? how knows? Because for me Holland was a great challenger for the WC and i think they were the best team in both WC98 and EC2000, they just lost on penalties :p |
