TIME AND VENUE:

UCL| Matchday 3| Wednesday| 19 October 2005| 20:45 CET| Estadio Santiago Bernabéu

Team News:

Real Madrid

Michel Salgado limped out of the Madrid derby on Saturday and is missing after being diagnosed with a hamstring injury and will be replaced by Carlos Diogo in the defence. Ronaldo is also out having picked up a knock on his ankle and his place in the side will go to Robinho, while Sergio Ramos’ suspension, following his sending off against Olympiacos, could hand a chance to Jonathan Woodgate.

Rosenborg

Per-Mathias Hogmo will be without defenders Robbie Russell and Miika Koppinen and goalkeeper Espen Johnsen and midfielder Orjan Berg are doubtful.

probable lineups:

Real Madrid: Casillas; Diogo, Woodgate, Helguera, Roberto Carlos; Beckham, Pablo García, Zidane, Baptista; Raúl, Robinho

Rosenborg: Espen Johnsen; Basma, Kvarme, Riseth, Dorsin; Strand, Skjelbred, Solli, Braaten; Helstad, Storflor

my prediction:

2-0
Raúl, Robinho

this should be pretty much a walkover for Real. However, they should watch Braathen.
I guess somewhere around 4-0 to Real.

hey, datboy, why is there such a big gap in your stadium roof?

So, just to check it out: 3-0 Diogo, Baptista, Robinho

BTW I dont see any gap in that picture

I believe Real Madrid will win. But it won't be a walkover.

3-1

Last time we played in Madrid we were close to a little sensation, but two late goals by Real made it not happen. We are far from the same level as we were then, but still we are in very good shape, with 9 points and 13-1 in goal difference the last 3 matches in the league. If we are very lucky and get a point today, I actually believe we can end better than 4th in the group. But I think it might get ugly today, but we have beaten Real before, so we can do it again! :S:p

But I predict 3-1 to Real, don't care who scores. But I really hope Braaten has his switch* on today. :p

* Braaten varies a lot in his play. So; on=brilliant and off=invisible

Watch out for them though, Rosenborg is in form (H) I have no clue, but meh, I see they've beaten Brann :p

10:23 AM, ah screw it!!! I ain't going to class...AST310. :hump:

Real Madrid 4 - 1 Rosenberg
(Robinho X2, Raul, J.Baptista ; Basma (pickde him since he has a cool last name)) :(

Unlike you Raikkonen, I don't believe Woody will make it a hatrick. I think...

I predict an almost classic Real win:

Raul will bring the team ahead 1-0..but after that the team will relax too much thinking they've already won it, Rosenborg will bounce back after a goal by some random Norwegian (or a random OG by Woody), causing the Real team to wake up and win the match 3-1 with two late goals by Zidane and Raul again.

We need Guti inmediately. Raul coming back alongside Pablo to create some football is the sign that we dont have a creative midfielder.

Well, in theory we have, but Zidane is erasing himself from the match. Why does he go upfront when we attack instead of coming back to recieve the ball??? Zidane, youre not a f*cking forward!!! :kader:

Worst performance of the seasson without doubt. Coinciding with Zidane playing vs 11 players.

Woody :rockman:

Beckham, MoM. 2 assists, 1 goal. Diogo was fantastic, and Guti must start over Zidane every match.

Rosenborg had luck to score... they had only 2 shots on goal in the whole game.

Johnsen will play in EPL next season (Y)

I dont know if our game level improvement in the 2nd half came from:

a) Guti entrance.
b) Baptista exit + option a.

What is sure is that Guti must be always a starter.

Woody  Raul goal (pure class) Becks free kick

Did anyone see the Stars and bars on the right side behind the Rosenborg goal in the second half. I seriously thought those sigs with it in the RM logo were baseless jokes

Anyway, fantastic win by madrid, but its troubling that they had to be down like that just to get it going. Beckham, Robinho, Guti and Garcia were fantastic in most everything they did. Fantastic job by Woodgate, was it Sacchi he went over to thank/cup the face of when he scored?

Outstanding game by Real. In the first half the team had it's problems but what an awesome comeback. Beckham especially played well, and what an awesome FK goal. The team played really, especially Raul who I felt stepped up his game to accommodate for Ronaldo's absence. I would have liked to see more from Robinho, but even so he played well and had that assist to Raul.

One problem though was that Diogo attacked so much that he forgot he was a defender. Way to many times he was burned on his side and someone else had to step in to stop Rosenborg's counterattacks. I also think he caused the goal by leaving the defense out-manned.
Hopefully he fixes that up for the teams next game.

BTW I'm especially happy for Woodgate who is finally showing his worth. He deserved the grand applause he received when he went off. Now if only he could score some goals and played well in the league, then perhaps I'd stop losing points in the La Liga Fantasy League. (C)
