View Full Version : Tutorial - How to create kits patch without overwriting nothing

I did this "discovery" working on my CEP patch, and I think this could be useful for all you great kitmakers: inserting new kits done by other persons in our own game is not a complicated operation but it needs time, this is why not all have updated hyper-fashion soccergaming kits in their game.

BUT there is a way to create a single big file that has just to be copied in the data directory and, with a single click on fatbhbuilder.exe will replace the kits existent in the game with new ones without having to modify existing data big files. The way to do this is the following (and implies that the work of replacing the kits can be done by a single person that can distribute the "kits patch" to community):

1) insert new kits for existing teams as usual with kitraptor
2) create a new big file in data directory with biggui.exe naming it zdata_XX.big where XX is the number that comes after your last zdata (for example if your last zdata is zdata_33 create a blank zdata_34 file)
3) with the help of kitraptor teams.ini file navigate through your fifa2006 big files to find the t75__ files of the kits you just added (for example, if you have added the Arsenal kits, that has id 1, found t75__0_0_1, t75__1_0_1 etc.) and extract them in a temp directory.
4) insert extracted fsh files in the new blank big files with Filemaster and make regeneration
5) rebuild with fatbhbuilder.exe

Now you can rar and distribute zdata_XX.big and zdata_XX.bh for other persons containing new kits that overwrite old ones: other users will enjoy new kits with a simple fatbhbhuilder.exe execution instead of having to add every single kit.

All talented (and there are a lot here) kitmakers can contact me on this thread or privately: I can make kits patch for you downloading your kits and packing all in a single big file.

I hope the community can enjoy this discovery ;)

Won't the new kits in the new .big file conflict with the existing EA kits in the other zdata_xx.big files?

I mean in your example you will end up with two versions of the Arsenal kits, the default EA one in the original zdata files and the new ones in the newly created file, which one will appear ingame, that is if the game doesn't crash?

Nope, no crash: tried with my CEp. Simply last zdata overwrite previous one ;)

What do you kitmakers think about creating a single file containing all soccergaming.tv kits that go overwriting the ones contained in the game? I'm packing all the kits present in this forum and I can up a single big file that has just to be putted in your fifa (no importing operation, just a single mouse click) to have a really graphically improved game (with a readme containing all the kits with their authors of course).

What do you think about? I'll do it for me for sure, but I'd like to know if this community is interested in having this add-on as a tribute for soccergaming.tv kitmakers.

well first you need permission from the kitmakers :) many guys have made same kits,so if etc if me and chaos have made same kit,how do you do then?

Organizing the kits I found that there are not so much duplicates on soccergaming.tv. Of course distributing this patch (that I will make anyway for my personal private use) implies asking for permission: this is why I posted my question. Personally I believe that we can use a sort of "prestige classification" to select wich kit to include in the patch: for the kits I've gathered until now the classification would be the following:

Sundsvall
Curswine
Santista
Orozco
Matthijs
Cabi
Colina
Efr@in
Hawk
Lancers

Only these authors would be included in the first version and, for example, if Sundsvall and Colina did the same kit will be included the one of Sundsvall etc. We can think on others future patches later including other authors. Maybe, Sundsvall, you can start posting what do you think of distributing your kits in this way, you are the one with the greater number of kits on this forum.

Great! We just need know what others kitmakers listed think about this: the add-on will be released as a soccergaming.tv production with the list of all the contributors.

its ok chaos, cause i had to say no...sorry guys, but if you whant my kits, you can take them in my thread or fifasweden.tk.....

Sadly Sundsvall said he can't join the add-on project because his kits are for fifasweden.tk. This is a real mess anyway, what I ask is if fifasweden can make the same type of add-on with sundsvall kits: is this possible? We would anyway use not swedish teams kits Sundsvall, so see if you can reconsider this: it's undoubt that you are one of the main kits authors of this forum: why do not partecipate on this? And how can this "damage" fifasweden.tk?

Really thanks to Santista anyway, I'll begin preparing fsh material tonight.

Lancer too gave his permission. C'mon guys, convince Sundsvall to partecipate to this add-on: I can't understand the difference between downloading his kit one by one or all together in a single file

Randy: you can read the procedure to realize external kit add-on on the link posted in the first post. It's an addon that doesn't change anything in your fifa files structure and doesn't need any importation procedure.

jealous of what, theres nothing to be jealous of,me and pede is good friend, but converting fifa 2005 kits is only a solution when you really have to get the kit,and thats not the case here,if anyone really needs a kit,ok,but i dont think we should make a fifa06 patch with converted kits,we whant quality imo. :ewan:

Well, in some cases converting kits is the best way to go. Especially with teams that are smaller, like in my USL patch. I'm not going to expect the kit makers to make those kits all over again. I appreciate their hard work to begin with,

And when USL/MLS starts again this year, I will get those new kits made in 06 format.

Don't get me wrong, 2gk 06 kits are great. But time is limited for all of us, and if we want to see patches happen, I think that those playing the patches, would rather have a patch with some kits that have a slight blur on the back, than no patch at all.

I think I'm coming form the perspective of those who actually play the patch. And I do play my own patches when I finish. And my converted 2gk 05 to 2gk 06 kits look just fine, and I'm having fun with teams I want to play with.

I understand your side of the story from a kit maker, but I see it from another side. And I make good patches in my view.

Anyway, just my two cents

I think that the point is that presenting a kits addon gathering all the best talents of this forum, the main objective is to offer freshly new kits realized especially for Fifa 2006. Of course everyone of us, lacking new 2gk kits, are glad to use converted fifa05 file, but is undoubtable that converted kits lack of details on some parts of the kit and that they can be not updated regarding sponsorships.

Anyway of course I agree that it's better a new team in the game with converted kit, than no new team :) But we are talking about kits addon here.

Sundsvall

agree with ockham, also the guys who whant converted kits in their game, they can use that to man :) but i think that converter isnt that great as many ppl say it is,because of like ockham said, old sponsors, sometimes the design from thefront to back, and from shirt,to sleeves, isnt match....also if i whant a kit for a team i dont convert a fifa2005 kit,i just make the team i whant :ewan: :D

Point well taken, when I think in the context of the conversation and a kit add on patch. I guess my post may have been for another forum.

Alex, I wish I was a good kit maker as you and fast also, because I don't have the patience or the time to make great kits, only average ones in my view. But sufficient enough I think for people to enjoy a patch.

But that's a good reason why we all need to work together on these things, because that way we can make great patches.
