History
Rosenborg BK (RBK) are the best and biggest club in Norway. In the period 1992-2004 the club won the Norwegian league every single season. That's amazing 13 titles in a row!

The club was founded in 1917, but in the first 40 years RBK was just a "neighbourhood club" for youngsters who wanted to play football, ice hockey and handball. Rosenborg was far from being a top club in their hometown of Trondheim.

But in 1960 a miracle happened: Rosenborg, totally unknown for Norwegian football fans, came from nowhere and won the Norwegian cup! Four years later they copied this success, and won the cup once more. In 1967 Rosenborg qualified for the Norwegian premier division for the first time, and in their first season they went all the way and won the championship!

After some glory days in the 1960s and the start of the 70s, the club went into 15 years of depression. In 1977 the club played in 2nd division (second highest level in Norway at that time) and if it had not been for devoting fans and club members, Rosenborg would probably have been "erased" from Norwegian football.

Led by their legandary coach, Nils Arne Eggen, Rosenborg managed to turn the bad sitution around and things soon looked brighter. In 1985 the club was back on the top by winning the Norwegian league after a thrilling final round game against the old rivals Lillestrøm.

This was the start of the golden age for Rosenborg. Since 1988 RBK have won the league 15 times and the cup 6 times!

The club managed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League 8 years in a row (European record!) between 1995 and 2002, even though they often met hard opponents like Besiktas and Panathinaikos in the qualifying games. In the 1996-97 season Rosenborg for sure was "discovered" by Football Europe by beating AC Milan 2-1 away at the San Siro. This ment title favourites AC Milan was knocked out of the Champions League, while Rosenborg went through to the quarter-finals, as the first Norwegian club ever.

In the last decade, many big European clubs have bought players from Rosenborg. John Carew (Valencia, Roma, Besiktas, Lyon), André Bergdølmo (Ajax, Borussia Dortmund), Steffen Iversen (Tottenham, Wolverhampton), Bjørn Tore Kvarme (Liverpool, St. Etienne, Real Sociedad, Bastia), Øyvind Leonhardsen (Wimbledon, Liverpool, Tottenham, Aston Villa), Harald Brattbakk (Celtic), Vegard Heggem (Liverpool) and Stig Inge Bjørnebye (Liverpool, Blackburn) are just a few examples.

Nevertheless the club has always managed to find good replacements for the players leaving Lerkendal Stadium. Even though Rosenborg could have used the income from transfer fees and Champions League prize money to buy players from all over the world, they have continued to sign Norwegian domestic players. In the moment all first team players are from Norway, mostly from the city of Trondheim and the surrounding areas. The club states that they are "a local club with local players entertaining the hometown fans".

Rosenborg have an average attendance of 19,400 at league matches. This is impressive in a city of just 150,000 inhabitants.

Wohoooooo!:D :lui: finally a thread for THE BEST team in the world, well, actually Sao Paolo is the best team in the world since they beat Liverpool in the worldchampionship for clubs final, and Liverpool finished second, so they are the 2nd best team in the world. That makes Rosenborg the 3rd best team in the world!:D

SO, finally the 3rd best team in the world have an own thread!:D:D:D

Of course I will post in here, all the time! I will have an opinion about everything that's going on down at Lerkendal!:D

Now I can't wait for the season to start!:D We want revenge against Vålerenga, and we want it NOW!

Just reminding that I will be the boss of the Norwegian Tippeliga PL 2006, you can check it out for more info in the Prediction League-forum!

I can answer for him, of course he will, nor-rbk is such a nice guy that he will provide you with any information you want about anything regarding Rosenborg!:D If he don't, I can!:D

I've gotta say, I really like Solli.

Hehe, I agree!:p He lives only 500 meters from my place! I've seen him outside driving a small motorised (spelling?!) car :p:D

Yeah, sure I will. But he is second choice, so he might not play so much. ;)

Well, he better learn to pass correctly soon... :nape:
But he is really good when he is in form though.

To fill Ørjan Bergs boots we have a player like Per Ciljan Skjelbred! :D I'm just hoping he can manage to recover to the form he was just before the injury/assault! :)

good idea making this thread! I've always admired Rosenborg, I have fond memories of watching them play in the CL several years ago. I'd be interested too in hearing about Lars Hirschfeld's progress through the season, same goes for the other Canadians playing in Norway..

Well, only 11 days 'till Rosenborg start their pre-season matches. And i actually have quite high expectations to these matches rosenborg will play Brøndby and Djurgården in the Maspalomas tournament. Also they will play against FC København and Ciudad de Murcia.

It is very imortant that they gain match experience and also gain confidence through these matches, because the 15th February Zenit St.Petersburg enters Lerkendal Stadion (UEFA-cup, 3rd round). Høgmo actually (well, I don't know how serious he was) thought that Rosenborg had a fair chance of winning the UEFA-cup:p

I don't know about that, but I do hope that the team can gain some confidence before Tippeligaen starts at 9th of April:)

Here are Rosenborg fixtures before the start of Tippeligaen:

I can tell you about how they are doing. But you will have to remind me of it then. :)

I don't think he was serious at all, but he has mentioned this quite a lot times in the media, so you never know. But I really doubt it that we'll win it. I think we have a fair chance of knocking Zenit out. But Bolton or Marseille in the next round may be a little to tough. But we are capable of knocking them out too, but winning the cup, no way. :(

haha awesome! Thanks (H)
No problem ;)

Well, here's a little update of what's going on in Trondheim:

1. Ham-Kam is still interested in signing goalkeeper Ivar Rønningen, they started the negotitation as early as November, but when Rosenborg demanded 1 Mill NKR for him, Ham-Kam thought that was to much, and then said no. Ivar Rønningen is now the 3rd choice behind Espen Johnsen and Lars Hirschfeld.

2. There is only one player from Rosenborg BK that has to travel to USA with his NT. Lars Hirschfeld (CAN) and Karim Essediri (TUN) have both not been picked out to join their NT, the reason for this may be because of the UEFA-cup match agains Zenit (15th February). The only player that travels to USA with his NT is Goalkeeper, Espen Johnsen. Here are the list of the Canadians that GOT picked out to join their NT, and also plays for a Norwegian team: Patrice Bernier, Stephan Ademolu, Kenny Stamatopoulos (all from Tromsø), Rob Friend (Molde), Chris Pozniak (Haugesund) and Sandro Grande (Viking)

Hope you find this as usefull information :)

nor-rbk
04-01-2006, 04:45:PM
Actually, Essediri was not found good enough to play for the Tunusian NT (who are going to play in the African Championship soon), and not because of the UEFA Cup matches. And Essediri can't even play for Rosenborg in the UEFA Cup, because he has already played for Tromsø in this tournament, and the same goes for Hirschfeld. ;)

Nice to see a Norwegian club thread here, though I don't follow Norwegian football very close ;)

But I'm confident Rosenborg will win this season (2006).

Pretty typical, the year I move to Trondheim, Rosenborg have their worst season in 12 (?) years.

Actually it's 19 years. In 1986 was the last time we had a season worse than last year's. Ended 8th in the league. :S

Youssef Kone from Olympique Club de Safi (MAR) is training with the club this week. I guess we don't buy him, because we usually don't buy players that have been on trial. And honestly, we don't need another attacker unless it's a really quality striker.

But what we do need on the other hand is a midfielder. With Ørjan Berg always injured, Skjelbred out for a long time and Eguren to be loaned out, who on earth are we going to use in the UEFA Cup if we get another injury? We got Tettey (who is not good enough in my opinion), Superman (who are going to retire after this season) and Solli. :X

Well, Rosenborg is probably not known for buying great african or south american players, I remember Robert Boateng as a big FLOP:p

And for the midfield problem, I'm thinking Solli will be chosen to plan in the midfield, mainly because he is the only midfielder left!:S Frode Johnsen can play midfielder, I remember him playing midfield in some Tippeliga matches last year. Other than that I don't knot who's gonna play midfield:S I'm just hoping that Rosenborg proceeds in the UEFA-cup, which can be difficult with 1 or 2 midfielders:p:S

would probably be something like this I guess then:

Braaten---Johnsen----Storflor

Since the 2006-jersey still is not finished, Rosenborg are now using these jerseys in the friendlies:

http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/2152/drakt2006manipulasjon25ul.th.jpg (http://img211.imageshack.us/my.php?image=drakt2006manipulasjon25ul.jpg)

and also, if Adidas delivers in time, the Rosenborg-jersey will look like this against Zenit in the UEFA-cup:p

The second one is way better than the 1st, because of the colors. The Rosenborg BK-jersey have always been black and white, therefore no one should add colors to the jersey. The reason they have colors on the first one is because the get much more money from the sponsors if they print the logo with colors.....:p :S

What do you guys think of the two jerseys? :)

Kone is getting his chance to prove that he is something tomorrow too. Going to play at least 30min.

Also Essediri will get his debut.

Hope that Eguren get his chance tomorrow too, he really deserves it. Can't understand why he has played so little.

To bad that SportN are going to broadcast the match, and not EuroSport as usually. :(

And it's about time we win this tournament again. Last time was in 1999 (RBK-Galatasaray 4-2, RBK-VfL Wolfsburg 2-2 (4-2 on pen.)) :p

Well, the friendly against Brondby ended after full time with 3-3, with Kone scoring in the 92nd minute:p Then, on penalties Rosenborg lost 5-4:S

Here are more info about the game, in norwegian I'm afraid:S

http://www.rbkweb.com/vis/4162 - pictures from the match

http://fotball.adressa.no/live3/frames.jhtml?matchID=33500001 - text summary of the match

I think Per-Mathias Høgmo was trying new players in this match, considering that players like Essediri, Kone & Hirschfeld played (all of them came in as a sub).

All in all I'm quite happy, of course I hoped we'll win but a draw against Brondby is not bad at all:)

nor-rbk
14-01-2006, 12:40:AM

Youssef Kone, from Burkina Faso, was supposed to play with Rosenborg only until this weekend, but since he have impressed Per-Mathias Høgmo with nice technical details on training (and also a goal against Brøndby) he now are going to play with Rosenborg also next week.

I'm hoping that Kone continues to deliver great performances so that he maybe can develop into an inportant player for Rosenborg, maybe next season:)

Here are some goals that Kone have scored during the 2005/2006 season (not in RBK):

Maspalomas Tournament 2006, Estadio Municipal San Fernando de Maspalomas.

Last match of the tournament tomorrow. We still have a fair chance of winning the tournament after Djurgården played 1-1 against Pohang Steelers today (Pohang won 5-4 on pen.). The South Korean side will play the Danish champions tomorrow before Rosenborg meet the Swedish champions later on the day.

I am a little confused about the rules in this tournament. Because if a match ends with a draw there is a penalty shootout (as happened in both of the first matches), but I don't know if the team that wins get another point or if it only counts if the teams ends with same points at the end.

So the table look either like this now
Brøndby 1
Rosenborg 1
Pohang S. 1
Djurgården 1

or like this
Brøndby 2
Pohang S. 2
Rosenborg 1
Djurgården 1

My prediction: 4-3 to RBK :p:(

nor-rbk
15-01-2006, 08:16:PM
Rosenborg - Djurgården 2-0
1-0 M. Johannesson (o.g.) 35' (http://media.putfile.com/Djurgarden---RBK-0-1)
2-0 C. Basma 73' (http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=video&file=0_2.avi)

Since Brøndby won 3-2 against Pohang earlier today, they win this tournament. Rosenborg ended second.

EDIT: Also Kone is not getting offered a contract after his trial. Reason is that he does not go straight into the starting XI.

Well, after the match against Pohang Steelers, the board in Rosenborg BK decided NOT to buy Youssef Kone... But now, they have decided to buy him despite that they already said no to him. The price is expected to be lower than the 7 millions (nkr), about 800-900k € or something, that Rosenborg got for Alexander Ødegaard.

I think it is nice that Rosenborg get some African players, it's true that the african players before him have NOT been a hit in Rosenborg, but I have a feeling that Kone will break that curse and play like a god in Rosenborg (well, maybe not like a god!:p)... Can't wait to see him play for Rosenborg in the Zenit match (I doubt that he will get the chance), but atleast we will see him when the Tippeliga start in April!:D

Helstad with broken foot

Thorstein Helstad has suffered a foot injury and will miss February's UEFA cup games.

After having chewed pain killers during the Gran Canary stay, the pains were increasing after he returned to Trondheim. X-rays were taken, and these showed a break in the left foot, local Trondheim daily Adresseavisa reports.

This means two weeks on crouches to allow the injury to heal, and a period of restituation and light training after this. In all, it is not likely that Helstad will be ready for the games against Zenit St. Petersburg.

"It's bitter, but I'll be back for the quarter final!", Helstad comments to the newspaper.

He is as I see it the only who can score some, if he is in shape of course. Braaten is fantastic, but he just don't know how to shoot. Storflor never get any chances, and Brattbakk has lost it. :(

Rosenborg not interested in selling Johnsen

Sparta Praha would very much like to buy Frode Johnsen, but neither the club nor the player seem to care too much for the interest.

According to sources Rosenborg Web has been in touch with, the Czech club believe that they will be able to sign the Rosenborg striker within the next few days. Sparta Praha, which are currently at the 10th place in the table halfway into their season, are supposedly willing to pay between 700,000 and 900,000 Euros for the player. Johnsen has supposedly been offered a three year deal.

RBK do however reject the possibility of a transfer.

"It is nothing but nonsense. I do not know if it's official, but we recieved inquiries about him. We are nonetheless not willing to sell Frode at this moment. It is out of the question," coach Per-Mathias Høgmo told Rosenborg Web.

Thorstein Helstad will be out with a leg injury for many weeks, and therefore Johnsen will be the first choice as central striker in the very important UEFA Cup game against Zenit St. Petersburg in three weeks.

"I am happy with playing in Norway. I had a son three weeks ago and therefore I would have problems with moving to a completely new country. I am happy with being in Rosenborg," Frode Johnsen told the Czech Internet news site iDNES.

RBK-web (http://www.rosenborg.info/article/4189)

My opinion about this:

Well, don't sell him RIGHT now, because now we need him against Zenit and also maybe in the Tippeliga, but as soon as Helstad recovers, and maybe Kone settles in with the club (:p) , I think we should sell him, maybe when the transfer window opens in July.....

Three youths on trial

Rosenborg keeps up a high speed in the player logistics these days: Yesterday afternoon, three young midfielders arrived at Lerkendal.

The lads are Barry Kader (20) and Alex Somian (20) from the Ivory Coast and Albanian Jahmir Hyka (18). The last of these is already a familiar face in Trondheim as he trained with RBK last October. The junior international did impress as a substitute in a friendly against local Trondheim club Nidelv.

"We saw him a lot last year, and want to keep in touch with this player. He is an extreme technician with good balance and speed," Per-Mathias Høgmo tells rosenborg.info.

"He is viewed as the best player of his age in Albania," Rune Bratseth adds.

As Kader and Somian, Hyka will join the A squad when they go to La Manga on a training camp on Saturday. The contact with the two from the Ivory Coast was managed through talent scout Stig Torbjørnsen, who also discovered Yssouf Kone.

"They are both U21 internationals," Høgmo tells, wanting to spend the following days to get to know the African duo better.

And then, time will show wether the three test players will be found in the RBK outfit.

"Whatever the outcome, it is important for us to always be in touch with a range of young players, who can be of use in the long term," Per-Mathias Høgmo ends.

RBK broken by virus

A week prior to the home match against Zenit, Rosenborg is terribly struck by illness. Thorstein Helstad and Alexander Tettey are out as well.

Saturday, rbk.no reported that Per Ciljan Skjelbred and Ørjan Berg had to be home in Trondheim, but now it is clear that the number of home sitters is the double figure. In addition, Bjørn Tore Kvarme and Øyvind Storflor have become ill after arriving in Spain. All have the same sympthoms: fever and sore throat.

"As the players have been living so close together, we take it for granted that they all have gotten the same virus already, and then there's nothing much we can do than to isolate the ones getting sick. Lots of people in the county of Trondheim have been contaminated, especially children and youth. Usually it passes after two to four days," RBKs doctor Torbjørn Grøntvedt tells local Trondheim newspaper Adresseavisa.

Wow, that is kind of neat, though, they will go to another club quite fast. But I read an article in the newspaper yesterday about non-euro-players in Norway, saying that they have to hace international matches for their NT or they must have played in their countries Chamipons League. Managers like Høgmo, Soler and Nordlie don't like this rule, and they are now trying to remove this rule from Norwgian Football. Norway now have the most strict rules about non-euro-players in Europe.

nor-rbk
09-02-2006, 08:23:AM
The new rule is crap. Norwegian clubs can't go out and buy players that have played on that level, they are just too expensive. But about Lago and Eguren they can't play for 3 clubs within a year, so I think they can't leave Rosenborg before the summer transfer window opens (I'm not sure about this though).

The goalgetter Harald Martin Brattbakk

It was today a living legend that said goodbye to Rosenborg. Harald Brattbakk will be remembered as one of the greatest players in the clubs history.

http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/8941/031127brattbakk3zy.th.jpg (http://img145.imageshack.us/my.php?image=031127brattbakk3zy.jpg)

151 goal in 224 tippeliga-matches in RBK, 166 in 255 tippeliga-matches in total and put together 256 goals in 347 compulsory matches for Rosenborg, says it all. The 35-year old is the best goalgetter Norwegian football have ever seen. He has throughout his career had a sensational ability to be at the right place at the right time, and have "pumped" in goals season after season.

In Europes biggest clubfootball-competiton he did not get remarked with only important and pretty goals. Often it was "the waiter" Harald Martin Brattbakk that contributed the most. From a mor retired role at the AML and/or LF he served his teammates with great passes/crosses again and again, something atleast Vegard Heggem appreciated in Milano at christmas-times in 1996! (http://media.putfile.com/AC-MILAN---ROSENBORG)

He have now decided to leave Rosenborg because he don't get to play for the 1st team, and that he also not have scored a goal in a very long time. One more thing to say:

Thank YOU, Harald Martin! :D

PS. Brattbakk have now in 11 years been my favorite player, and it is very sad that he now leaves Rosenborg..... (:/)

Harald is without a doubt a great legend. He has meant so incredibly much for this club throughout his years here. I have to admit that this came as a little shock to me, as RBK wanted him back from Bodø/Glimt after last season. Harald Martin has been one of my favourite player in RBK too. Best striker we ever have had (maybe Iversen was better, but I'm too young to remember him). I think it's sad that he is leaving the club. He's just a fantastic man, both on and outside the field.

Thanks for everything King H. M. Brattbakk.

Alejandro Lago & Sebastian Eguren is going to play in Stockholm next season, in Hammarby. They get laoned out the 2006-season and Hammarby also have an option to bye them....

nor-rbk
24-02-2006, 07:27:PM
Another bad deal for us. Don't like that "option to buy" at all, it means that if they play well we can't get them back, and if the fail they will be sent back. Lose - lose situation in other words.

dirion
26-02-2006, 11:05:AM
Alejandro Lago & Sebastian Eguren will not play in Hammarby next season as said earlier this week, the reason is the new FIFA-rule that says that a player can play for only 2 different clubs during the international club-season from 1st July to 30th June the year after..... so, again they are back in Rosenborg:p

Well, well, listen to this: Lago and Eguren is ready to be loaned out. Again! :O
This time they will return back to Uruguay. Lago will play for Bella Vista, while Eguren goes to Montevideo Wanderers. There is no option to buy this time, so they will return after the loan deal expires.
But the big question is: WILL they ever get loaned out.

Pero de todas formas, buena suerte en Uruguay. :ewan:

The training camp is chosen to be in Portugal.
Because of the cold weather in Trondheim, Rosenborg have chosen to have parts of the preparations for the league start in Albufeira, Portugal.

The cold weather has made it imposible to train on natural gras, and that is the main reason for travelling down to Portugal.

The team will travel from Trondheim 20th March and then travel to Gothenburg on the 24th to play against IFK Gothenburg.

Rosenborg sign Hyka

Jahmir Hyka was sent home after the trial last month, but now Rosenborg have decided to sign the Albanian 18-year-old after all.

The talented midfielder signed a three-year-deal with RBK today.

"Hyka is really tiny, but he is quick and a fantastic dribbler - especially in small spaces. His vision of the game is also quite good," Rosenborg assistant coach Knut Toerum says to rosenborg.info.

The U-18 International, who is rated as the best in his age group in Albania, has already been to Trondheim twice. In October last year he played a friendly match against local side Nidelv, and in February he was training together with the first team for two weeks.

Jahmir Hyka will now join the youth department, but he is likely to be promoted to the first team squad during 2006. Already on Tuesday he will begin his new daily routines with training sessions and intensive Norwegian courses.

Tippeligaen - Week 1 from Åråsen Stadion, Lillestrøm.

Finally it's kick-off time. I have looked forward to this since August really. Two of the hottest candidates to win the league meets already in the first match, what a start. Lillestrøm have not beaten Rosenborg at Åråsen since 1999, but have looked awfully strong through the winter season. Rosenborg have not lost to a Norwegian club since September. So this match has everything to become a great match.

Fantastic match. We totally outplayed LSK, but the 15 first minutes were disasterous, but from then and out we played great. Would have deserved 3 points today, but I'm pleased anyway. Micke Dorsin were very good, and Strand will always be Supermann. (Y)

Wow, very great match:D A lot of goals and excitement to the end:p Though, the match also shows that we have a problem in defence considering that we let in 3 goals, 2 on corners and 1 on a shot from 20 meters, that atleast I think that Hirschfeld should have taken. Tippeligaen - Week 2 at Lerkedal Stadion, Trondheim

After a very quiet week, it's soon the first home match of this season. Rosenborg are favourites, but if Start takes any points it won't be a surprise. WOHOOOOO!(H) That 2nd half was magnificent!:D The 1st half was really boring, but the 2nd half was great, especially Braaten was great, also very good positioning by Frode Johnsen when he scored 2 out of 3 goals. But the man of the match is still Braaten, considering that he got one assist, got tackled so that Iversen could put the penalty in goal (finally, a penalty goal for us!!!!:D) and also he spiced up the match with great dribbling and technic:D

This looks very promising, and if they continue to perform like this, I don't see why Rosenborg WON'T win Tippeligaen 2006!:D

Nice game by Rosenborg today, and a very deserved win. Good performance by all of the team, and especially Braaten. Didn't understand why he took off Storflor though. New match coming up. One of the biggest meetings of the season. Vålerenga are the championship holders, but are not in a good shape. Rosenborg on the other hand are in good shape, the Trondheim club has not lost to another Norwegian club since September. The Rosenborg winger increased his chances with some good performances against Serbia and Montenegro in a friendly match in March, and last night he recieved the confirmation from Tunisia coach Roger Lemerre.

"The message did not surprise me. Our national team coach did call Per-Mathias Høgmo (Rosenborg coach) already a few weeks ago, telling him that he would pick me. But I could not be really sure before I got the confirmation. Now I am really happy," Essediri tells local Trondheim newspaper Adresseavisen.

The 27-year-old shall join the Tunisia camp immediately, but Rosenborg are almost certain to be allowed to use the player in Tuesday's home match against Odd Grenland. Then Essediri won't be present in Trondheim until the league continues in July. This means he will miss the games against Lyn, HamKam and Brann in May and June.

Tunisia is drawn into group H together with Saudi Arabia, Spain and Ukraine.

"I think we will be fighting with the two last mentioned for going through," Essediri says.

Their opening match is against the Arabs 14 June in Munich.

Note: There will be sat a new attendance record tonight at "New" Lerkendal. Over 22 000 people will come and see this match, even though the maximum capacity are 21 166 seats. The "russ" will get some extra tickets. And now even the sun is shining, everything is set for an awesome night. :p

Rosenborg - Odd 1-1
0-1 O. Hviden-Watson 11'

Well, then we can just forget about another league title, 9 points behind is way to much. We played good sometimes today, but mainly it was not what I expect from this team. And that moron Solli really starts to piss me off now, why the hell do he play so much? Why do he play at all? He had some good shots today, but that was it! Disappointing. :nape:

Yes, this is disappointing, 9 points behind is way to much! Though I still have the hope that we can win the league, the chance of that is dissapearing...:S Considering the way Rosenborg played tonight we should have won, because Odd almost had only one goal chance, and that was the one chance they scored at...:S

nor-rbk

Their goal wasn't a chance, it wasn't even a half-chance. It's so typical that we conseede those crap goals, and waste dozens of clear chances. Perhaps Høgmo should introduce some finishing practice, because something must be done.

Lyn Oslo 1 - 2 Rosenborg BK
18' - Kevin Larsen (Lyn)
46' - Steffen Iversen (Rosenborg BK)
58' - Frode Johnsen (Rosenborg BK)

I would say an okay match, since we won, but what a terrible first half!:| In the first half it seemed none of the Rosenborg players didn't know how to pass without giving the ball away to Lyn! Solli did another astonishing terrible match, and the Exchange Høgmo did in the halftime-break substituting Iversen on for Solli was briliant. Iversen scored after 22 seconds of the 2nd half, and in the 58th minute Frode Johnsen scored a superb goal from about 20 meters in the top corner of the goal, keeper had no chance reaching that shot!:D

Rosenborg are now 7 points behind Brann and Lillestrøm on the 1st place, and are now situated on 3rd place.:)

Unbelievable. We play awful football for 80 minutes, totally owned by Lyn, and we managed to win. What a robbery! Well, well, 3 points are 3 points. But there were not much positive to get out of this match, except the points.
Johnsen's goal was fantastic though, brilliant.

I would not say that we played awful football for 80 minutes and then get owned by Lyn, it's just that after the 2 goals we played secure football instead of playing unsecure and hazardius attacking football.

The first half we were owned. Didn't create anything, except from chances for Lyn (Riseth you .... ). Hirschfeld saved us and was the only one that did what he could in the first half. In second we were much better yes, but we were lucky that they didn't score against us when we put 11 man in our own box. Really lucky. And every time we got the ball we either kicked it far up or passed directly to Lyn players, instead of trying to keep the ball and let the time work for us. And, of course, I don't mean we should have pushed everyone upward and try to get another goal, but try to keep the ball instead of just give it away immediately.

Yes, the 1st half we play awful football, and were owned, yes. But in the second half, I would not say we were owned, we just played deffensive, boring, but effective football. Of course we didn't play good football in the 2nd half, and I know that we almost everytime we got the goal passed it up the field to a Lyn player, but what i meant was that we weren't owned for 80 minutes, but maybe we were owned about 50-60 minutes of the game, because the 1st quarter in the 2nd half was actually not so terrible:p :)

Helstad in need of knee surgery

Thorstein Helstad will have to undergo surgery to fix an injured cartilage. He'll lose the rest of the spring season.

Last year's RBK top scorer has had a nightmare of a season so far. In advance, he was appointed the centre forward of choice, but the misery started already in January - when his left foot got fractured. The southeasterner hence lost both the UEFA cup games against Zenit.

Currently unavaible players:
Roar Strand (knee)
Ørjan Berg (knee)
Thorstein Helstad (knee)
Miika Koppinen (knee)
Yssouf Kone (pulled thigh)
Karim Essediri (World Cup)

Good play by Tettey

Alexander Tettey helped much when the U21 national team won 1-0 over Spain tonight.

RBK's midfielder talent substituted Lyn's Tomasz Sokolowski at half time, and helped straighten out things on Norway's central midfield.

"We didn't begin too well, and we were not able to put enough pressure on them. I myself wasn't able to recieve the ball properly," Alexander Tettey told TV2 Zebra.

I have some great news about Jahmir Hyka, check this out:

Hyka gets license after all

The drama concerning Jahmir Hyka got a happy ending today: the Rosenborg talent got the player's license from the Football Association!

The 18 year old from Albania signed a three year contract in March, but despite numerous attempts from RBK he did not get a license. This was all because the Norwegian Football Association claimed he was "not vital for the club". Three weeks ago Rosenborg gave up, and chose to send Hyka home.

But today the happy news arrived: the Norwegian Football Association had changed their minds and gave a license to the U-21 International, who thereby also gets a permit to stay in Norway.

But we couldn't expect class play of him last night, since he arrived in Trondheim the same day. Hopefully he will be treated well and developes to become a class player.

Rosenborg - Brann 0-0

yes, a very good first half indeed! Though, it's terrible that we did not get a goal in the first half, F. Johnsen should have scored atleast one goal. Well, now it's vacation for the players during the WC, and maybe that's good for the team, play against weeker opponents and maybe gain some confidence so that they come back strong when the season starts again after the break:)

Atleast in the first half against Brann I saw that Rosenborg have the potential to win the league this season, and that comforts me quite a bit:)

Awfull match, from both teams. RBK was maybe a little better, and had a huge chance just before the end that should have been a goal. There were very few chances for both of them, mostly passing around in the middle. Disappointing match where 1-1 was a fair result for two very weak teams.

Thorstein Helstad is sold to Brann. Our top scorer last season leaves RBK after two seasons in the club. Every single one of the matches left in the Tippeliga is now VERY important for Rosenborg, Rosenborg are now 3rd on the table, Lillestrøm are 2nd with equal points as Rosenborg, just better goal differential, and Brann is in 1st place 1 point ahead of Rosenborg. Brann is playing against Stabæk at their homepitch and Lillestrøm are playing against Start at their homepitch. Both Start and Stabæk are very good at their homepitch, so I think Lillestrøm and Brann are going to struggle against them. That victory was one of the most deserved I've seen, and now we are on the 1st place 2 points ahead of Brann(H):D If they continue like this (7 wins in the league in a row) you guys will see Rosenborg in the CL next year!:D

Rosenborg - Lyn 2-1
1-0 S. Iversen 48'
1-1 C. Edu 53'
2-1 S. Iversen 56'

5 points ahead of Brann who have one match less played. Good match from our side, especially Iversen, Sapara and Braaten were good. :p

Iversen is playing GREAT at the moment, and I bet that he'll be in the starting 11 when Norway meets Greece in the ECQ:)

Since Brann won their match against Odd on monday, Brann are now 2 points behind. Since the match between Brann and Rosenborg have not been played yet it's still possible for Brann to get the gold, although, I do not think that will happen, here's the table in the Tippeliga when every team have 4 matches left:

Rosenborg 22 38 - 20 45

Brann 22 36 - 25 43
Lillestrøm 22 37 - 30 37
Start 22 25 - 26 33
Stabæk 22 37 - 30 32
Vålerenga 22 32 - 26 32
Odd Grenland 22 28 - 30 29
Lyn 22 28 - 31 29
Ham-Kam 22 31 - 30 26
Fredrikstad 22 32 - 40 25
Sandefjord 22 31 - 42 25
Molde 22 26 - 35 24

Viking 22 23 - 31 23
Tromsø 22 26 - 34 20

HamKam - Rosenborg 1-1
1-0 R. Kienast (pen) 38'
1-1 J. G. Solli 54'

Very exciting match. We were so close of getting all 3 points, but we were also so close of losing the one we had as well. Since Brann lost yesterday we really had the oppurtunity to get a fine gap down to them, but we didn't take that chance good enough. But, we are now 3 points ahead and Sunday's match will decide a lot, if we win we probably will win the league as well.

Ørjan Berg retires on Sunday
One of the best players during Rosenborg's golden years retires at a full-seated Lerkendal on Sunday. Berg has been one of my favourite players, with his brilliant technic and precision. Thanks for everything, Ørjan!

Budge made them 3 years ago. But, he didn't make a special one for Rosenborg, so I just "re-coloured" it in Photoshop to what it's like now.

You dont have to, i just asking.

Høgmo resigns
Per-Mathias Høgmo steps down as head coach of Rosenborg already. Knut Tørum will porbably take over permanently, and he will be the 6th head coach since 2002! :|

Must say that I'm not suprised, I think this job was just too difficult for him. But I don't like all these changes in the staff all the time. I hope Tørum stays some time now, even though I would like to have Høgmo to be the boss.

We had 9 players unavailable. That really says everything. I don't think we have a chance against Odense tomorrow either.
