Good find DrJ.
(link didn't actually work for me, maybe needs registering? Alternative - or rather the original source is here (http://xbox360.gaming-universe.de/news/581.html))

Although I have been playing the rtwc version I say these pics look quiet impressive! Ofcourse, gameplay is a tottaly different issue and their first effort in next gen (with rtwc) was dissapointing imo.

Let's hope those 5 months effort proves to be well spend.

I know it must have been said quiet some times by now but seeing this release coming out I got pissed again: what a stealing it was to release half the game in November (rtwc) and coming up with this few months later!
I'll probably buy it the day it comes out but &%ck, do I feel scammed!

Damn those screenshots look pretty nice...I'd be happy if they fixed the stupid crappy framerate in RTWC and gave it gameplay similar to Fifa 06 for xbox (or better, of course!). And why does EA insist on getting rid of the Bicycle kick. I wish it had PES' less-scripted gameplay and Keeper reactions.... I don't think that's too much to ask. Presentation already rocks, WORK ON THE GAMEPLAY!

Will EA release the full info about the list of national teams & other features in it ?

From what we can see Fiji & Albania will be in game :D as well as the other 32 finalists:

I wish that they would keep the games separate.

A club version and a national team version.

Club versions would have more Rest of the world teams if not complete leagues added, and all of the relevant cups.

National Team version would have world cup setup, qualifying, copa america, euro, and africa cup, and the asian tourney.

Plenty of football to go around for two versions.

My god ... they ****ed up my living room, my home stadium ... :nape: :(

Even the benches are on the wrong side ... :boohoo:

Compare the roof ... and the pillar will be removed before Worldcup, it's just there for construction purposes currently.

I also dislike all other stadiums ... dunno, they're looking really stupid. Too small, and so many bad and blurred textures ...

Thank god there's ECP :D

i dont even care if it is a bit off, still looks mad, stadiums look mad to me, nice visuals and colours and all the 3d crowd make it look mad and especially all the confetti and streamers they really make it for me, u see alot of matches where it has that sorta stuff and to finally have some in a footie game is mad

Yeh i guess that's why they left that sorta thing for just the WC, to make it stand out from the FIFA series. :)

hahahaha ... EA is so ridiculous ... they built a stadium looking like FIFA 2002 or so ... they forget half or the stadium.

You want proof? Here:

http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/5493/06fifawcngcfritzwalter14fb.jpg

compare to:

http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/9558/fws17va.jpg

- the roof is disconnected
- the tower on the left is missing
- the benches are on the wrong side
- the roof is too low

but now, the other side ... even better :D

compare to:

http://www.1fck.de/albums/album245/IMG_2618.sized.jpg

http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/893/fws25rv.jpg

wtf??

- the complete new stand is missing !!!
- the tower on the right is missing
- the floodlight towers have gone years ago

This is embarassing, EA, really. No excuse for that ... what did you do with my living room :( ^^

THEY EVEN MISSED THE RAINBOW!!! not buying this game now, they try to make a stadium that has a rainbow going straight oiver the bloody thing and its no there, not impressed ea!!! lol cant expect them to have everything in, its understandable that the new parts of the stadium are in but it still has most of the stuff there so dont be too displeased m8

I think in a game that claims to have "all 12 official and original Worldcup stadiums" you can expect that.

The model of the stadium is now about 6 years (!!) old and known. The status of the stadium which is in the game is the one of more than two years ago - and I'm sure they didn't start building the stadium then.
The stadium is finished half a year now, and the construction of the last stand has been completely obvious for 1,5 years! They just should have taken a look on the webcams, for example, to see what's going on there.

Anyway, probably I'm quite upset because it's "my" home stadium where I am every second weekend ... I think you can understand it better then ;)

And, second anyway, I'm building my own Fritz-Walter-Stadion and I hope ECP will be able to release a patch replacing the stadiums with new, better ones ^^
At least this new stadium will look original then ;)

Hey Schwenker, then you might fall off your seat when you read the first developer diary EA published yesterday... here it is: :)

Week 1:
Developer Diary - Stadiums

What were main focuses for your design?

The great thing about the FIFA World Cup is the fact that it always brings new stadiums that are built for the event.

The first thing we had to do was make sure we had all the reference material possible to build them accurately and efficiently. In addition to acquiring footage from our licensed partners, we sent photographers out to take photos of each stadium.

In many cases we took hundreds of photos to get absolutely accurate reference ranging from the way rafters look and the lighting standards on the pitch through to images of the bolts and hinges on the seats.

FIFA also gave us reference of how the graphics, such as the hoardings, and colours would be used in each stadium, so when people play the game, it will be accurate to the real event.

Also, as this is the FIFA World Cup and the biggest celebration of football every four years, we wanted to ensure we captured the festival atmosphere and ensuring our new 3D crowd to look and behave like the real thing. Fans throw streamers and confetti, as well as holding up giant flags in the crowd.

What were the challenges?

When you put a lot of detail into things like the players, their kits, and the pitch they play on - that doesn't leave a lot of room for things like balloons, fireworks, confetti, streamer, and flags.

We had to build our stadiums in a way that the best parts of the geometry were shown in gameplay cameras. That means putting less detail in the last row of the upper tier of seats, as opposed to the lower level seats, and paying attention to things like staff and photographers seen standing around the perimeter of the pitch.

When you're dealing with a video game, you've only got so much display memory that you can use at one time - so we had to re-think where to put the details in stadium. The end result is a great looking stadium, with lots of effects and a party atmosphere.

What technical tricks did you employ?

Aside from putting less polygons and detail in to the areas you don't see a lot in gameplay, we also worked on a new lighting engine for the game. We have day, night and dusk lighting conditions, with dusk being the most dramatic.

The sun will shine through the stadium gaps and cast accurately coloured shadows on both the pitch and the crowd. Even the flags hanging in the rafters cast coloured shadows on the crowd as our artificial sun shines through them. We also used depth of field to help focus on key areas of the stadium when viewing gameplay and the cut-scenes. This way we focus the gamers’ attention on the things that look best in each situation. Even our goal net has new physics applied, so each shot into the net will look more accurate than before.

"In many cases we took hundreds of photos to get absolutely accurate reference ranging from the way rafters look and the lighting standards on the pitch through to images of the bolts and hinges on the seats." ... after seeing your comparision, this sounds kind of funny :nape:

If they did so much effort, the yield is really low ... ^^

The other stadiums aren't really outstanding either ;)

At least we have 3D-Crowd ;) Will probably make FIFA run slow on many PCs ... but I think it's ok.
I really hope we can convert our stadiums for this game. I really wanna see them with 3D crowd :)

Both your points are valid - while it is poor that they messed up the stadium, they can't be expected to make a perfect game. What would they sell us afterwards?

Fatlip .. I din't say the RTWC engine was any good. The framerate is sporadicly horrendous is as you correctly pointed out.

But if this is the best they can do, in order to keep the framerate steady, they can just stick to making Xbox games as far as i'm concerned!

What really annoyed me was that not only did EA make a FIFA without clubs, but the fact the gameplay was far inferior to the origional FIFA 06! I'm hanging my hopes on WC2006 being better to play (and hopefully a kickass FIFA 07 to follow!)

From the vids it seems they have tweaked the ball physics and defender AI a little, here's to hoping it is a better game
