View Full Version : Rosicky close to Arsenal transfer
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Tomas Rosicky has had a medical at Arsenal regarding a possible transfer says the Czech Republic coach Karel Bruckner.
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder, who is contracted to Dortmund until 2008, is a key member of the Czech Republic's World Cup squad.
"I am surprised it did not come to light earlier," said Bruckner.
"We have tried to keep our promise to keep quiet but I must now admit that Tomas is undergoing medical tests."
Rosicky has been a long-standing Atletico Madrid target.
The Czech Republic playmaker has scored 15 goals in 53 appearances for his country.
Rosicky cost Dortmund Ģ18m - - a Bundesliga record - when he joined from Sparta Prague in 2001.
does any1 know how good this player is?
thanks :ewan:
Zlatan 22-05-2006, 08:08:PM I thought he was gonna get signed by Atletico soon?
He's a bad pen kick taker though even Edwin managed to save a penalty from him.
well he has passed a medical at arsenal, it waz on sky sports news.
Dreath 22-05-2006, 08:16:PM Great technical player.
Vid (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmwCh2ZegFE&search=Tomas%20Rosicky..)
Rosicky is a very good creative player. He'll fit right into Arsenal's midfield.
Sundsvall 22-05-2006, 08:23:PM weid, i bought him for arsenal in my fifa manager game some months ago :) great for us i hope, i like rosicky very much
Filipower 22-05-2006, 08:24:PM very good news for arsenal
Jannes 22-05-2006, 08:25:PM very good news for arsenal
when he plays for arsenal like for the czech nt, yes
when itīs true, thanks for all and bye
i bought him for a manager game on my fone when i was low on players and money, and he really improved the team also, and we finished 3rd in the french league!
runner4life203 22-05-2006, 08:37:PM its always exciting to get new players
Sundsvall 22-05-2006, 08:40:PM yeah but i bought him for ARSENAL :)
BlueBalla will go crazy once he hears this.
adj137 22-05-2006, 08:45:PM from what i seen of him he looks a bit of a lightweight... a bit like Cesc 7 years down the line. I don't know if thats what will sort arsenal out but he does have far more experience than most of wenger's previous signing's, and in their current situation thats got to be a good thing.
PSVFOREVER 22-05-2006, 08:57:PM Im not that impressed by him, he hasnt really got in form during the past 2, maybe 3, seasons
Hendrik 22-05-2006, 10:15:PM I'm surprised he's still worth that much. He's been mediocre in the past seasons, is injury prone and was benched for some under 18 year olds.
La Liga would have suited him better than the EPL, his body is just too weak.
Well I said the same about Hleb last year and he got better as the season progressed although I'm of the opinion his best position is as a playmaker right behind the strikers.
Virgo 22-05-2006, 10:29:PM and how much is that? have prices been mentioned?
PaPaGeorGeo 22-05-2006, 10:34:PM 4 million pounds rising to 7 mill after appearances, its not like we are breaking the bank for him.
Im not really sure where he will fit in though, Cese and Gilberto will play in the centre, Helb on the right and Freddie on the left, and we wont play a 4-5-1 in EPL
bjmenge 22-05-2006, 10:38:PM I think we will use the 4-5-1 in the EPL on some occasions. For me, the days of Arsenal being a strictly 4-4-2 team are over. Hell, I wouldn't even be shocked if we some day saw a 4-3-3, or a 3-5-2 with two wingbacks/midfielders. I think Arsene has finally learned that tactically flexibility is necessary.
Rosicky is well good on FM, never seen him play in real life tho. :D
Voltaic Borusse 22-05-2006, 11:34:PM never seen him play in real life tho. :D
For shame. :nape:
He does get for the Czech nats.
Hopeunited 23-05-2006, 01:26:AM Rosicky plays pretty sh1tty for the Czech NT most of the time, especially in the big games against Holland, Romania, Greece, etc.
He'll just turn out to be another Hleb.
Help? 23-05-2006, 02:20:AM That's great news for Arsenal if he turns out to be another Hleb, i would think. Maybe a real Arsenal fan can correct me.
Anyways, i believe since the age of 20, Rosicky began to downgrade in terms of his skills and play, instead of improving. He was better 5 years ago.
PaPaGeorGeo 23-05-2006, 06:08:AM Yeh if he turns out like Helb ill be happy, Helb started out pretty badly but has adjusted to the English league very well now and will play a big part in our challenge for the title next season
Gooner519 23-05-2006, 07:54:AM Watched Fox Sports World Report tonight and Bobby McMahon seems to think that he is our replacement for DB10. I really don't know what to think of that. I thought he was a CMF.
1st Post....I registered a year ago and have just now been authorized to post...
Frostwolf 23-05-2006, 08:13:AM I wish he'd turn out like Hleb (H)
Good signing, good player especially considering what we paid for him (very little)
PaPaGeorGeo 23-05-2006, 11:33:AM Its official now
http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=News&article=389261&lid=NewsHeadline&Title=Czech+midfielder+Tomas+Rosicky+signs+for+Ars enal
the actual fee apparently is 6.8million pounds,he had a clause in his contract at that price, the structure of the bid is undisclosed
we should learn from arsenal how to keep their deal under the radar so that media won't spread it terribly. this will make deal much more easier
faceNside 23-05-2006, 12:08:PM Huge signing. With him, Arsenal will be fighting head to head with Chelsea for the Premiership next year.

You couldnt because you are/were a public company, im not sure of the details but that might have changed since Glazer gook over
Yossarian 23-05-2006, 12:13:PM I'm surprised he's still worth that much. He's been mediocre in the past seasons, is injury prone and was benched for some under 18 year olds.

Arsene will whip him into shape.........he's a fitness freak.
IamWill 23-05-2006, 12:14:PM Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Czech Republic international midfielder Tomas Rosicky from German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund for an undisclosed fee.,. so yeh..he's now an Arsenal player... poor Atletico...
Stotty 23-05-2006, 01:00:PM You couldnt because you are/were a public company, im not sure of the details but that might have changed since Glazer gook over
yeah it has changed.
TOON ARMY 23-05-2006, 01:56:PM Another shrewd signing by Wenger.
Didn't really fulfil his potential at Dortmund. Wenger will get the best out of him, no doubt
I dont really see him playing a fast-paced game to be honest.
Would be more useful in Europe IMO.
Bummy_JaB 23-05-2006, 02:41:PM I think he can rotate with Fab and he can also cover the left side of midfield. As so many times this season when Fab wasnt on the pitch we looked horrible in midfield going forward. This signing will take a lot of pressure off Fab and wont drill his legs at such a young age. Wenger works miracles so im sure fitness and strength wont be a thing to worry about. Of course any signing is not good until you see the end result.
He will do nothing in England.
Fragile little bugger he is. Will spend more time on the doctors table.

-------Cesc----Rosicky-------
-Hleb-------Henry------Reyes-
Dreath 23-05-2006, 04:43:PM Rosicky will be taught to play on the wings as well.
TheBlueBalla 23-05-2006, 04:47:PM BlueBalla will go crazy once he hears this.
;)
Reminds me of when Hleb signed for them last summer, Help mustve been feeling a bit rueful
I remember only two summers ago when Rosicky was the cock of the walk, having impressed greatly during Euro. Chelsea and Barca were vieing for his signature and an estimated fee of 17 million quid
Now, I dont see him being as effective as he once was, but I wish him the best at Ashburton Grove, and I hope he resurrects his career. If he plays like he does for the Czechs, then I can see him really making a big impact, but if his club form is what translates, then he will surely see alot of the bench. Personally, I dont think Arsenal will look to change formation, and I see this as a purely bench level signing. Maybe to see if the kid can crack the starting XI and take it from there, rather than making a system that will accomodate five midfielders/wingers
I cant deny that im disappointed that I now have to root against him, though

Ebonix 23-05-2006, 08:19:PM Ace. I can't wait to see Rosicky playing in the Premiership next year.

Wow. Beautiful.
TheBlueBalla 23-05-2006, 10:14:PM its not a prototype wenger signing in that he is a kid who has failed to live to potential rather than a kid who has still tons of untapped potential. I hope wenger gets the most out of him, but I am almost sure he will have to fight his way to being a starter
unless (gasp) Fabregas or Reyes make a move towards Madrid. In my opinion, the latter is far more likely than the former
Yossarian 23-05-2006, 10:22:PM Doesn't look like from that pic that he's using his penis much on her....no way he's satisfying her in the sack, man.
I'd **** her up and down a hill for a week straight if I ever got the chance, man.
Yossarian 23-05-2006, 10:46:PM unless (gasp) Fabregas or Reyes make a move towards Madrid. In my opinion, the latter is far more likely than the former
What are your thoughts on his tenure at the Arse so far? I think we've failed him more by missusing him positionally at times than anything else. He's definitely not lived up to his price tag and the hype that preceded him, but I also don't consider him a failure yet either.
I just wish that he had a tenth of Cesc's courage and mental fortitude.....saying that he's soft would be a big understatement
Dreath 23-05-2006, 11:07:PM Yoss sums it up.
He should be playing up front. Whenever he has he's scored goals. He's not left winger.
Wow. Beautiful.
i would said 90% of footballer girl friends are hot chick
TheBlueBalla 24-05-2006, 04:07:AM Youre both making sense about Reyes as, in all the games ive seen him in, he's been most effective playing up front as an out and out forward. However, I think any percieved misuse just comes from Arsenal's limited means. That is with getting a player that cost them the price Reyes did, and with the abundance of forwards, or at least lack of need up front, there is maybe a desire to make him work out on the left as part of some growing process, or pressure to just play the guy
I dont think its fair to label him a failure either, as he has nabbed some good goals for the arse, especially in his first season, but I bring his name up for more than just because of the admiration hes already had for Madrid. It just strikes me that they will lose either Cassano or Ronaldo this summer, Raul is a floater, Robinho isnt really a natural leftsider, and team effort has been an issue. I think welcoming a dedicated Spainiard back home who really wants to play for Madrid, and bringing in that forward/left winger (he can look off some games, im sure, but ive seen him perform admiralby out there too, and he contributes even if he doesnt score) could really help them out. Not saying Madrid will do it, I just think it would be a great acquisition for them
Like Yoss says, he might be a bit soft for England, and the theatrics are a bit much. In Spain neither of those would be issues
