FOOTBALL MANAGER ARRIVING ON PC AND CONSOLE FOR CHRISTMAS 2006!
LONDON (8th June, 2006) – SEGA Europe Limited. is today proud to announce the next step in Sports Interactive's genre-defining Football Manager™ series. Packed full with more than 100 new features, Football Manager™ 2007 is set for release on PC, Mac and Intel Mac, as well as the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Football Manager Handheld on Sony’s PlayStation Portable handheld entertainment system (PSP) completes the format line-up, with all platforms set for a Christmas 2006 release.
The Football Managerä team has taken the fans comments on board and have introduced a host of new features across all formats. Feedback specifically on the Xbox 360ä version resulted in the Sports Interactive team compiling a new user interface to allow players to have a joypad friendly experience whilst still retaining all the depth of the game. Football Manager Handheld also sees an upgrade with more playable leagues, more features and, for the very first time, network play allowing you to compete against your friends on your PSP.
“We are constantly striving for perfection and are on track to deliver our most authentic football experience yet”, commented Miles Jacobson, Studio Director of Sports Interactive. “There will be a new, easy to use default skin, as well as improved hints and tips throughout the game. More in-depth feedback from your assistant manager and coaches, plus interaction with any player worldwide makes this an un-missable and very user friendly experience, and our best football game by a country mile.”
With all-new features, improved gameplay and a depth only seen from Sports Interactive, Football Manager™ 2007 and Football Manager Handheld offers a management simulation that is second to none. To whet the appetite of every Football fan, SEGA and Sports Interactive have unveiled just some of the new features available with more features for all platforms to be announced in the coming months.
Features for Football Manager™ 2007 PC/Mac/Intel Mac/Xbox 360™:
Feeder Clubs - Brand new to Football Managerä 2007, and one of the most requested features on Sports Interactive’s forums has been the addition of feeder clubs to the game. This new addition works in all the ways you would expect it to in real life. You can establish your club as the small team who receives loan players from a larger club or a large club looking for support getting your youngsters match experience by loaning them out. Have the first option on players from clubs, and schedule pre-arranged friendlies each season by simply asking your board for a feeder relationship and choose from the list they compile.
Youth Revamp - A complete revamp of youth teams sees full youth squads for each team that has a youth set-up, thus giving a much better system for the regeneration of players in the long term game.
User Friendly – Football Managerä 2007 gives players a new easier to use default skin, along with hints and tips throughout the game, and an improved tutorial. In addition to better feedback from your assistant manager and scouts as well as lots more media, customisation and multiple row selection, all this adds up to the most user friendly Sports Interactive game ever.
Scouting Revamp - A complete revamp of the scouting system inside the game leads to more information about players and teams being made available to managers, as well as a more realistic methodology for player scouting. This system allows scouts to grow and improve their knowledge-base of the world’s football players.
Player Interaction - You can now talk to any player in the world via the media. Player interaction allows you to tap up other teams stars or see if players will buckle under the pressure. An effective manager must use the media as a motivational tool - why not praise your own players in many different ways or shout at them for loss of form?
Team Talks - For more varied ways to talk to your team, SI have worked hard to deliver vastly improved team talks at half and full time. Not only this, but pre-match team talks will now be making their first appearance in Football Manager - so you can send your team out onto the pitch with a specific briefing.
Football Manager™ 2007 for PC, Mac, Intel Mac and Xbox 360ä are set for release Christmas 2006. Football Manager™ Handheld for PSP will also make the Christmas 2006 launch. For further information go to www.sigames.com or the completely re-vamped www.footballmanager.net website.

#1 Stunna 08-06-2006, 02:24:PM Im loving the feeder club addition. (Y)
Zlatan 08-06-2006, 02:29:PM Default skin looks better, still not perfect though but either way they've finally decided to chance the font on the default skin, thank god. :)
Team talks don't seem to be that much improved looking at the screenies
Anyway can't wait! :rockman:
scouting has seen a welcome improvement i see.
AND no news about training, thank god, must be the first time in five years SI havent bothered tampering with it.
rpvankasteren 08-06-2006, 02:40:PM ******* Intellitext adds. :(
Filipower 08-06-2006, 03:10:PM very good news, any tips on when the demos are coming out?
PSVFOREVER 08-06-2006, 03:15:PM Feederclubs AND new scouting? (H) You made my day...
rpvankasteren 08-06-2006, 03:15:PM Not yet. There is rumours that the PC/MAC/Intel MAC versions will be out way before christmas though. Possible they were started by me though :(
Filipower 08-06-2006, 03:23:PM haha(H)
trust me, PC/MAC/INTEL MAC versions will be out WAY before Christmas, Friday 29th September is my bet, lets see how far off i am.
rpvankasteren 08-06-2006, 03:46:PM 6th of October then. Do I get a free copy from you if I'm right?
no, dont think i get a free copy this year by the way :(
Filipower 08-06-2006, 03:53:PM why the hell did you get free copies?
coz i want one:(
meh, talk to the hand (H)
By the way, aslong as it has PROPER implications, the idea of getting a younger player to look up to an older player is quite cool.
Zlatan 08-06-2006, 03:58:PM why the hell did you get free copies?
coz i want one:(
I think it has something to do with working arounds and stuff. :brow:
rpvankasteren 08-06-2006, 03:59:PM Poor you. All that hard labour they made you do. :(
haha (H)
Writing articles for The Bootroom is SO strenuous :( :p
Team talks don't seem to be that much improved looking at the screenies
To be fair Max, i'm not sure how much they could improve it. I mean they effect morale depending on the score, the player and i guess, other variables.
What i mean is, they do all they are meant to do, and i think team-talks dont need to be improved, just bugs ironed out.
kickin_kyle 08-06-2006, 04:27:PM Great improvments! Especially the player interaction.
- just to show how well me and Ruud know SI, just noted that Miles gave somewhat of a hint as to the release date being pushed forward :D
"we always say Xmas at this stage..." in response to someone's question, the "..." being the most important (H)
- A few pointers about youth improvement: Fran explains that youth facilities etc now determine quality of youth players, not quantity as before. Quite interesting i guess.
- full features list for the PSP version will come in due time, as its completetly different to the PC version.
- real life feeder clubs (e.g. Ipswich - Inter) will be in the game, aslong as the researchers have put them in.
Zlatan 08-06-2006, 04:44:PM To be fair Max, i'm not sure how much they could improve it. I mean they effect morale depending on the score, the player and i guess, other variables.
What i mean is, they do all they are meant to do, and i think team-talks dont need to be improved, just bugs ironed out.
That's true but I mean that there's more or less still the same options; Angry, dissappointing, encourage, pleased and delighted. I wanted to be able to say more to me players than that.
Good thing though there's an team talk before the match now aswell.
i dont think it needs to be changed on the surface, as long as its been tinkered with behind the scenes.
rpvankasteren 08-06-2006, 05:09:PM I'd like to be able to say: Pay attention to defense, especially near the end of the game. Forget about the offense if you must, but keep that sheet clean.
More specific advise that is.
- real life feeder clubs (e.g.Ipswich - Inter)
Serious??? :|
rpvankasteren 08-06-2006, 09:37:PM Yeah, didn't you notice Adriano at Ipswich last season?
:p Sixto Perolta to Ipswich was probably the most high profile.
i still don't know whether you're joking or not... is it just me being really gullible?
it sounds so far fetched it could be true... and this is Inter.
SEARCH FOR IT THEN :D
Honestly, it might not be the case now, but when Ipswich reached the premiership, they were the feeder club of Inter Milan.
Like i say, Inter sent Peralta there a few years back, im sure you can find other cases.
Bah it's too late in the day to search. I'll take ya word for it :jap:
Also: Will clubs be able to have more than one feeder club? I think that's the case with clubs such as Man Utd with definately Antwerp and i remember hearing a deal with Fluminense in Brazil. And i know we also have a "deal" with Sporting.
Hopeunited 09-06-2006, 03:20:AM wow, that looks f-u-c-k-i-n-g awesome :|
Fernandez 09-06-2006, 08:52:AM Brilliant. Can't wait to lay my hands on it.
All these are great but I hope they will improve the media on transfer season because transfers is 50% of this game!
Hopeunited 09-06-2006, 11:18:PM oh, how come they still didn't do anything about the signing youngsters from outside EU thing?
rpvankasteren 10-06-2006, 01:14:AM What thing, and how do you know they didn't? This is just a first announcement after all.
yoyo913 10-06-2006, 01:26:AM I am excited to try these new features, I hope they will improve the game
Socrates 10-06-2006, 01:30:AM Things are looking good...I really like the idea of feeder clubs.
Nimreitz 14-06-2006, 03:59:AM I hate team talks, I think they're stupid and the only reason they're in the game is that everyone assumed Rafa said something to his players at halftime of the CL Final last year to make them come out strong. I personally don't really think so, it's just that he had players who weren't ready to die. Players are going to get pumped up without their coach yelling at them or praising them, the only thing a coach in real life can do of any substance is making tactical adjustments. And then of course the team talks in FM 2006 seem to affect the game more than tactics and players, which is complete garbage.
Feeder clubs and new scouting is fantastic though. I'm haven't really played FM/CM hardcore for a long while and I think I might buy this game.
i'm glad they using better font :)
there might be one person on the forum who is interested in this news, so i might aswell post it. SI have confirmed that FM07 will indeed work for Windows XP Pro x64 AND Vista.
One person? no? (H)
rpvankasteren 10-07-2006, 05:01:PM Interested, yes. I HAVE to get a new PC soon. I updated my current one with a 512 MB X1600 Pro, a free one even as it didn't work in my dad's PC, which means I'll be able to struggle along a little more comfortable for a while, but it's a 4 year old piece of junk none the less.
Vista will be compulsory for gamers anyway, the way Microsoft operates.
whatever it is, I hope I stay addicted to this one for a long, long time..
FM06 was the one of the LEAST ever addictive in the series. Sad.
Zlatan 11-07-2006, 10:22:AM For me it was more addictive than FM 2005 really. Not as addictive as CM 03/04 IMO. More comparing material I don't have because I didn't play anything earlier than that.
Johnny_Big 11-07-2006, 11:09:AM Wow, feeder addition looks terrific!
Parra Power 11-07-2006, 11:22:AM ']whatever it is, I hope I stay addicted to this one for a long, long time..
FM06 was the one of the LEAST ever addictive in the series. Sad.
Are you serious???? This one probably got the most hours for me out of any CM/FM ever.
champdave 11-07-2006, 01:15:PM My first year at university looks like it's going to be destroyed by a combination of FM07, Final Fantasy XII and music (:/)
and partying, you're at uni for ****s sake (H)
hmmm.. hi :ewan:
I have absolutely nothing to add, but i just wanted to make 1 post for some reason :)
Wooo!
ALEX! ALEX! ALEX! ALEX!
Stotty 12-07-2006, 07:48:PM whenever i do that the thread gets closed :(
ah but this is the FM 2007 Official Announcement thread, which allows more leighway (sp?).
rpvankasteren 12-07-2006, 08:17:PM Leeway
:jap:
Da Kid 14-07-2006, 09:26:PM Juve in FM 2007 will be a real challenge.... :jambo: :jambo:
Fernandez 15-07-2006, 11:17:AM True. Let's have that as our next FM challenge, shall we?
champdave 15-07-2006, 11:03:PM and drinking, you're at uni for ****s sake (H)
Changed for truth (H)
why would it be a challenge? they are gonna be mighty rich..
Juve will be an interesting challenge now i guess, -17 points aint that big a deficit. Hell, Rotherham start next season with a 10 point deficit to overcome, and thats just because they were poor :(
Actually, how IS that fair, a club involved in match fixing is given a 7 point deduction, and a team that essentially, doesnt have enough money to keep running, is given a 10 point deduction........
SlowSilver 26-07-2006, 11:53:AM It isn't, but when is life ever fair? :p
Fernandez 26-07-2006, 04:50:PM Or football, for that matter? :p
rpvankasteren 26-07-2006, 06:30:PM Rotherham get the points deducted for using more money than they actually have. A clear form of falsification of competition, and definitely worth deduction of many points.
Remember, the team given an 8 point deduction wasn't actually involved in match fixing, just one of their employees called a friend who works in the officiating body and complained about the arbitration. If you want unfair, that's it.
Teams found guilty of match fixing and not even being relegated, that is indeed unfair.
Don't worry Ruud, only having a joke about Rotherham, obviously administration is really rather complicated, but i agree with your last point. Match fixing with just a slap on the wrists? come on..
Bobby 26-07-2006, 09:35:PM The USL Second Division info in the game came from a very smart fellow, if I do say so myself.
wonder who that could have been eh Bobby (H)
Yossarian 15-08-2006, 05:53:PM - real life feeder clubs (e.g. Ipswich - Inter) will be in the game, aslong as the researchers have put them in.
Really? Since when? We've got Spezia who we like own 30% of in one of the Italian lower divisions, but Ipswich?
Hopeunited 19-08-2006, 08:16:PM wow it's been a while since I've looked at FM stuff again. THis game looks exciting!
so is there gonna be another face-in-the-game contest by any chance?
Filipower 19-08-2006, 08:23:PM http://soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?t=134732
you know searching isn't that hard..
Hopeunited 19-08-2006, 08:28:PM http://soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?t=134732
you know searching isn't that hard..
haha thanks Fili. I'm one of the laziest persons when it comes to the internet so the search function is not my type of game.
I hope it's not too late to enter.
-KocH- 22-08-2006, 06:56:AM god.....couldnt wait any longer...:(
AustSaint 16-09-2006, 04:22:AM Does anyone know if CM 2007 for the XBOX 360 will be without region coding?
rpvankasteren 16-09-2006, 03:38:PM Don't want to know.
adj137 23-09-2006, 09:37:PM Thank you to those of you who have been patient and not hassled about the demo and release date over the last few weeks.
We now have some firm news so.....
We are on track for going into manufacture during the coming week, hopefully sending code off for disc testing on Monday, which would lead to going into manufacture late on Friday night.
If this all goes to plan, then the demo will be released next weekend on Saturday night/Sunday morning UK time at midnight, and, again, if this all goes to plan, the game will be released in the UK and in as many other territories as possible on October 20th. I will provide a full list of release dates in each territory in a couple of weeks when we know how the manufacturing process is going.
I have just confirmed the same information with our partner for the demo, the News of the World (for those who don't know the paper, it's the biggest selling Sunday tabloid paper), and it will appear in the newspaper along with a first look of the final packshot in the paper that comes out tomorrow (Sunday). The packshot will hopefully be available on Sigames.com on Monday - I am still awaiting the final file myself!
The demo will be available in 2 versions.
The vanilla version will include the English and Scottish quickstarts, and English language only, with limited assets (logo's and player pictures etc). This will be available from the News Of The World's website in conjunction with Play.com, to try and maximise the bandwidth available. The link to this will, of course, be on sigames.com when it's released at midnight.
The strawberry version will include extra quickstarts, and extra languages (to be confirmed), with more assets. This will be available initially as a torrent only, also at midnight, from www.sigames.com. For those that don't know about torrent technology, we will release a guide towards the end of the week, with some suggestions of free torrent downloading software to download.
The reason for taking the route we have this year is simple - it's very frustrating for people to struggle when downloading a demo, and our bandwidth just cannot handle all of the traffic that happens when the FM demo becomes available, which leads to frustration of people not even being able to get on the website because the server dies. This way we are hoping that the website stays up, and everyone can get the demo in a timely fashion. It also means that people can set the download up when they go to bed on Saturday night, and should be ready to play on Sunday when they wake up.
We fully expect mirrors to be available on Sunday too, but we will mainly be reliant on websites who have staff working at weekends for this to happen, with the exception of sites like rapidshare who we will upload to on Sunday morning when we should have time (as Saturday is going to be rather busy getting the files made, verified, tested, torrented etc).
Keeping my Fingers crossed, please please come on time.
well ruud, looks like i wasnt TOO far off, but you were even closer. From earlier in the thread:
Tom:
"trust me, PC/MAC/INTEL MAC versions will be out WAY before Christmas, Friday 29th September is my bet, lets see how far off i am."
Ruud:
"6th of October then."
we did ok (Y)
rpvankasteren 23-09-2006, 10:09:PM 3 weeks is a long way off, really. But you got the demo release spot on with that. :)
well you would expect me to get reasonably close :D :D
yoyo913 23-09-2006, 10:26:PM this year will have the last face in the game feature (was stated in a blog)
Filipower 23-09-2006, 11:38:PM yeah, it wasn't that important...more like a marketing strategy than anything..
they werent gonna put it in 07 but meh, lots of fans asked for it.
Fernandez 24-09-2006, 03:50:AM At least I got in this time.
Zlatan 24-09-2006, 05:46:PM Thank god, I hated it when I had this super regen and when I looked at his pic I saw some random fat guy smiling behind his PC or something.
Filipower 24-09-2006, 05:48:PM haha, true..
Pace and Acceleration 19 and you looked at the picture and it was the 17-year-old version of micheal moore(6)
PSVFOREVER 25-09-2006, 04:54:PM Deleting the regen picture folder is the first thing ive done in Fm05 and Fm06
Goo Goo boy 25-09-2006, 06:03:PM Deleting the regen picture folder is the first thing ive done in Fm05 and Fm06
Soulmate:jap:
In another note the demo will come out this weekend and it will be available as a torrent (Y)

Edit: uops, sorry for re-posting the info, I assumed this thread was as dead as the FM forum usually is. Glad to see it's not
the FM forum is usually dead? wow, thats a new one.
Goo Goo boy 25-09-2006, 06:20:PM If you compare it with PES and Soccer forum, it is. I guess in here there isn't so much postboosting or somethin
rpvankasteren 25-09-2006, 06:30:PM Heh, not so much postboosting... did you hear that Tom? (H)
Stotty 25-09-2006, 08:17:PM no, just every thread i post in gets closed! :(
Fernandez 25-09-2006, 10:44:PM What we are doing is called intelligent posting. No horrible people like those in the FIFA forums.
Zlatan 26-09-2006, 01:28:PM No postboosting in the FM forum indeed.
(H)
Filipower 26-09-2006, 02:53:PM touché(H)
the FM forum is more alive than ever right now...when FM07 is released we will get some action(well, it should take like a month, coz untill then we'll all be playing)(6)
Zlatan 26-09-2006, 06:05:PM I just noticed, that CM Portugal seems to have stolen my Shady Metallic skin. :(
Rocky 26-09-2006, 06:56:PM So who's shipping to the US? I bet Rudd knows. (H)
Filipower 26-09-2006, 07:24:PM Ruud owns Wikipedia anytime(H)
rpvankasteren 26-09-2006, 07:37:PM Heh. Check this thread. (http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?t=136472)
Not complete at all, but I can see the similarity with Wikipedia on that point too. I have banned Wikipedia from the legitimate sources list for my project group at uni. (Y)
Rocky 26-09-2006, 07:51:PM Anyone know the US equivalent of £24.99?
rpvankasteren 26-09-2006, 09:00:PM That would be +60% so about $40 (+ shipping). If you can find it in the US, it'll be closer 30 or 35, I think. But you'd have to find it then.
Rocky 26-09-2006, 09:16:PM Yer it's hard to find FM here. Meh, $40+shipping, that's gonna be almost $50 for a PC game(:/)
rpvankasteren 26-09-2006, 09:33:PM That's standard for PC games here. Taxes ftw. :(
Fernandez 26-09-2006, 10:18:PM Here it costs S$55. So over there, it might be US$27.
adj137 29-09-2006, 11:04:PM So what i want to know is...
What are SiGames going to do to Play.com, they must be REALLY pissed off. It's a bit sad really.
Jonaz 30-09-2006, 12:08:AM So what i want to know is...
What are SiGames going to do to Play.com, they must be REALLY pissed off. It's a bit sad really.
Why they pissed off? Play.com have always released the game cheaper than everywhere else.
last year it was something like £20
adj137 30-09-2006, 12:11:AM i was refering to the fact that they accidently leaked demo version out before it was supposed to be released. They had such great plands laid out as well
