Ok. Im watching Argentina v Germany at work. I love football. Argentina are still playing the best football of this world cup BUT with all their f@*%ing diving I'm finding myself hoping they get hammered.

Anyway..

Who'd you think are the worst cheats, player and team, in this years world cup?

For me-

Worst Player: Maxi Rodriguez, CONSTANTLY rolling around, bleating to the referee, trying to get other players booked

Worst Team: Argentina, any time their attacking players realise they've miscontrolled its an immediate dive, roll then whinge to ref

I haven't seen any Argentinian diving in this match so far

Anyway worst dives so far : penalty over Grosso in the Australia-Italia and Henry dive in the France-Spain, acting like he had his nose broken :nape:

Biggest cheat - Deco. Always diving at international and club level. Cost Celtic the UEFA Cup with Porto because of it, and dived consistently against the Dutch.

Worst team for cheating - Portugal, Italy, Spain or France.

Well to be fair, Grosso was obstructed by Niel's stupidity. It's like he was asking Grosso to dive.... that must be the stupidest challenge for the ball I've evr seen.

lol
Im Australian so hand of god means nothing to me

Also there was no way that was a penalty against Neil. He went to ground when he shouldnt have, then grosso fell over him.

Henry, it was a body check. But there was no way it was as bad as he he made it. He was body checked, then made it look like a sniper had taken off his head.

Refs havnt been cheats so far but they have been gullibile.

That bastard from Paraguay, Nelson Valdez I think, was constantly looking for fouls and rolling on the ground like a damn snake.

Worst dive of the World Cup so far happened in the Saudi Arabia vs Ukraine match. The Saudi player went down as if the aura of the Ukraine player had knocked him down, Grosso's dive comes in a close second.

The italians, Deco, some argentina players and henry trying to get puyol sent off. :( Sh!t refereeing hasn't helped though.

BTW about guys who rollover... most players do it so they don't hit ground hard. Rolling actually help reduce the impact of the fall. However the ones pretending to be hurt is a diver. But the Italy-Aussie was won with an actual penalty. Grosso did win the penalty since he was in a sense fouled (honest to that degree), Neil is at fault. A dive is pretending to have been fouled withOUT having been fouled. Granted however, Grosso did go in looking for the foul. But all he had to do was walk into Niel's terrible challenge, all Niel had to do was get out of the way. Better yet he shouldn't have gone to the ground like that. So Grosso didn't really dive in the true sense, he went in looking for a foul and atleast 50% of the players in this tournament have gone into challenges looking for fouls.

With the Neill-Grosso 'foul', why did Grosso fall over BEFORE contact was made, watch carefully... he's a goose.

Grosso was legitimately fouled. How can anyone honestly claim differently? I've seen it from every angle and he trips over the defender's body!

Neill was on the ground with nowhere to go, Grosso just walked into him and let himself trip over Neill. He could have easily jumped over Neill or something like that. Definitely not a foul.

That was a really stupid and clumsy challenge by Neil though. Like what was he trying to do besides just obstruct his path?

You gotta remeber Grosso also just ran a good distance, so fatigue probaly set in for him.

You gotta remeber Grosso also just ran a good distance, so fatigue probaly set in for him.So basically what you're saying is Grosso fell over from fatigue? I didn't know penalty kicks are awarded for being tired.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=k2PgG8j0gyQ&search=grosso

just a terrible challenge, he slid in before Grosso did anything and grosso had to walk over him in order to get the ball and that's where he get tripped up. Basically he was obstructed even if he was tripped. You can see contact with the trip aswel. Grosso however did go looking for the penalty, because he had no chance of retaining the ball as clearly indicated by Moore who was most likely to get the ball that was in the open and the only thing he would have salvaged was a penalty. So basically it goes down like this, had Niell not commited such a lousy challenge and held his ground... there wouldn't be a penalty and that's why it isn't a dive.

Puyol did not elbow Henry, but the arm was slightly lifted and too high for comfort. Henry sold it as if he got hit in the face and I don't think the ref bought it, nonetheless it should have been a good talking to Puyol. It was not an elbow, just his arm was too high and should have been kept to his side... not lifted.

why? In no way was the England-Portugal game about theatrics, and I clearly saw Gerrard dive on 2 occasions also. I can fully admit that we have some players that go to ground easily, but these constant accusations have just become an easy cop-out. Compared to most other games in the WC, this match was played fairly, despite a few normal situations for a match of this importance and tension.

The worst dives would be of course Grosso's and Henry's.

The most unproffessional teams so far would have to be The Dutch(only for that match v Portugal at times) and till now, Portugal. Keep aside the Rooney incident. It will b*tchfest this thread. Other playacting were too much. we all know. But they still played some great football.

The worst module of the world cup as a whole would be the referees and their sh*t decisions

Figo going down as though he plays in Saving Private Ryan and thus getting Bouhlarouz his second yellow. That set the match on fire, from than on it got worse and worse.

02-07-2006, 08:49:AM
Grosso's dive was the worst, close followed by Figo, Henry and Ballack (against Argentina) and some divers in the first round like Jaziri, a Saudi-arabian guy and some more.

no dude the worst was Bouhlarouz injuring C.Ronaldo and not even getting a yellow card for it. and the whole thing started when Cocu tried to kick the ball out for fair play and Heitinga ran down the wing trying to create some danger, that's when all hell broke lose on that match.

Zlatan
02-07-2006, 09:47:AM
He did get a yellow for it mate.
And the Heitinga incident was after Figo's ridiculous act.
Sure you could see it was hit, but surely you can see from the replay that it was not intentionally done.

Do you think we like to see our players diving? Do you ever saw any Portuguese here not admiting we have some divers? Stop with that sh*t already...

And the scene with Figo and Bouhlarouz wasn't a dive, it's getting paranoic already.
