What would of happened to the current WC trophy (http://imagenesmundialistas.tripod.com/copas/c_wc130pxl.gif) had Brazil or Germany (or Argentina) advanced to the final and won it? That would of meant that whoever would of won that game would of won the current trophy for the 3rd time. The Jules Rimet trophy (http://imagenesmundialistas.tripod.com/copas/copamundo72x213.gif ) which used to be the WC trophy was given to Brazil permanently after they won it for the 3rd time in 1962.
Does anybody know if the same applies for the current trophy?

I don't think they would, although it wasn't given to Brazil in 1962 because that was their second win, 1970 (the greatest team of all time) was their third victory.

"FIFA's regulations now state that the trophy, unlike its predecessor, cannot be won outright: the winners of the tournament receive it on loan for four years and receive a replica to keep."

I think that rule is if they win the trophy 3 times in a row not three times! :ewan: :ewan:

Brazil got it permanently in '70 because it was the last time they awarded the old time Jules Rimet trophy. From 74' they used the newly designed trophy. :)

Brasil won it twice in a row(58 and 62) interrupted by England in 66.
So it is as Juventino says I think.

Jules Rimet was given to Brazil after their third title in 1970.
New World Cup won't be given to anyone afaik, though it does have limited space for the Winner's tag. I've read somewhere it'll last until 2026 or so.
