Hi,
I downloaded a new kit, made the right .bat file for GFXPAK and executed the .bat file.
All seemed to go well, old files in kits.big were replaced. The new kit was even visible in the EA Graphic Editor (as part of kits.big in data/player), but when I start up the game I still get stuck with the same old jerseys!!! I tried everything, all files are in their right place, but nothing works.
Although the game Fifa 2001 works well, it is a cracked version.
Could this be the problem, can it be resolved or should I just buy the real thing in the store???

You must have the CD.
Backup kits.big
Uninstall fifa.
Intall fifa using custom and tick evrything.
Put back kits.big
This is the only way.

Heard a lot about you already on this forum. Great how you help people out with advice and patches!
For my problem: I háve a CD with which I install the game as usual. The normal fifa2001 exe-file (on the CD) is about a few hundreds Kb's large. Then I have to overwrite this fifa2001.exe with a crack version (about 1.9 Meg large). Only then the game runs, but then it runs quite smoothly. The only problem is, as mentionned, that it bypasses the altered kits.big file or something like that.
Do you think that could be the reason? To import the new patch I did as follows:
Make text fle (notepad) with gfxpak commands, you know. Saved it, made it into a bat-file. Placed the bat-file into the data/player folder (gfxpak.exe already there), the (two) sfh-files (ja00247.fsh and jh00247.fsh for PSV Eindhoven) also and ran the .dat file. It worked good and the DOS-window showed that kits.big was updated. I also could see the new kits in EA Graphic Editor. But, as I said, not in the game.
Again: could the crack cause this problem, you think?
I have no problem buying the real thing, but if that doesn't fix the problem, it would be a waste of money...

Hope to hear from you, before I go to the store tomorrow (yes, I'm thát exited about the game). By-the-way, it's half past three in the night here in The Netherlands.

Iceboy, I forgot to mention that I also used full installation (all the ticks)...

It's very easy to solve your problem (it's not a problem at all).

After installing the kit go to customize and in "Edit Team" find the kit u've just installed (it's gonna be somewhere). Then press "Save" http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

The new kit gonna work now.

Nikita and Iceboy you are such a great patcher congratulations once more.

To the boy that has problem :just go to the dir you have installed the FIFA and in the folder data\player find the kits.big (wich was just edited) right click it and uncheck every box is checked (you must do that every time you put some files.Then make the same with user folder and all its continets to be sure.
After all that, run the game and when you in the first page press LOAD SETINGS......I'm sure everything gonna work just perfect after that.......i had the same problem and solved it with theses movements.

This morning (in The Netherlands Saturday 10.00 AM, now it's 23.30 PM) I found the answer to my problem!!! It had nothing to do with the cracked version or wrong procedures installing the kits, but it had everything to do with a patch I downloaded earlier. Since it was obvious that really nothing worked, ánd since it is obvious that there must be thousands of cracked versions out there but nowone has any real problems installing kits, I thought it might have something to do with other patches I downloaded and installed. And finally I found it!!! I earlier downloaded a patch to update the names of the Dutch league teams to the right ones. E.g.: my favourite team
is PSV (from Eindhoven, The Netherlands), but in the game it is described as just 'Eindhoven'. The downloaded patch fixes the team names and rosters in the total Dutch league, which is a good thing. But apparently this overwrites more or less the infomation in the kits.big file and exactly that was the reason the new PSV-outfits already were in the kits.big file (and
visible through EA Graph), but didn't show up in the game. Wow: now I started up the game and saw the new kits. FANTASTIC!!!

Again I thank you all for your replies, and maybe this can help others who experience the same problems. I'll post this again in a new topic. Bye-bye and hope to be able to help you out someday too (when I'm a little more experienced...)
