Read the article at www.soccernet.com (http://www.soccernet.com) about Bates comments at Chelsea on how there is no point in buying England players..............NO TALENT!

Like I've said all along foreign player limits must be restricted to a lot less than they are now!! Or England may have a hard time finding a homegrown english player worth calling world class. Afterall in my opinion Liverpool have overrun Owen he is useless if they work him to much at a young age. Have you noticed how often he is injured and it's not just Owen on the national team!

Riiighhhtttt.

So what about David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Robbie Fowler, Emile Heskey, Lee Bowyer, Steven Gerrard, Nicky Weaver, Richard Wright, Joe Cole, Frank Lampard Jr, Titus Bramble, Rio Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Jonathon Woodgate, and Alan Smith just to name a few. All those are great young English players that have developed even with the amount of foreigners in England.

Ken Bates is, as Martin O'Neil once said, a cretin. The excuse that English players will suffer because of foreigners is b.s. - look at Italy, their league is PACKED with foreigners and they have AMAZING Italian players like, Buffon, Vieri, Totti, Nesta, Cannavaro, and lots of good young players like Ventola and Pirrlo.

Foreign players raise the standard of the league, and I'd rather have 5 GOOD young English players in my starting 11, then 11 mediocre English players.

As for Owen being 'overrun' - gimme a break, his injuries have nothing to do with him being 'overrun' because he's so young. Look at Raul - he's only 22, is he 'overrun'? No, he probably plays more games than Owen because Real are in the Champions league, it's just that he's not as injury prone as Owen.

Ok fair enough, but the players you mentioned for England in your first paragraph ...how many can you call world class or internationals?? Beckham is only good for free kicks and long balls, Scholes is very dtermined and puts a 100% in a lot of the time, and maybe Heskey right now from his goalscoring spree. Other than that the rest of the players you mentioned.....I am sorry to say are ****ty!

im with neutral in what he said except the fact that most of these players aren't world class yet, when u play brilliantly in the Premiership that doesnt mean u r world class...also there's nothing special in most of them, look at the players Argentina and Brazil are producing...saviola,ronaldinho..players of this calibre are the ones who u can call world class, but frank lampard? nicky weaver? stephen gerrard? these are very average compared to what the world is producing....
overrating ur youngsters makes them under achievers although they're not !
thats england's problem.....
as for the foreigners i think there should be a limit to them, but it should be a little limit, like at least 3 english players should play...this way u r guaranteed 3x20=60 players who r able to kick it with the foregneirs if each team fields 3 englishmen!

what kind of racist comment is that? "they should restrict the amount of foriegners"?thats bull****. if england grown players cannot get the job done, then foreigners can do it better. You england people are just so jealous about great players who play in the EPL such as Kanu, viera, and many more.
JEALOUS AND RACISIM WILL NOT TAKE YOU GUYS NO WHERE f u c k

Sorry, but i have to agree with him...
Without foreigners the premier league would be VERY weak! It's true. England doesn't have any REAL talents (except Beckham) anymore...
That's why your national team is faling at the moment...

But who are the best team in England - Man United, who are their best players;
Beckham, Scholes, Giggs, Keane, Cole, Sheringham, Staam, the Nevilles, Solskjaer, Brown and Barthez. 7 out of their 12 best players are English.

What about Michael Owen - he's scored goals against some of the best sides in the world - Brazil, Argentina, Romania etc.

Look at the Leeds team which has a ton of young English players, they were able to beat Milan at home, and draw against Milan and Barca.

English players aren't crap, and our U21 side were one of the best U21 sides in Europe last year, winning ALL their qualifying games, before STUPID Howard Wilkinson fired Peter Taylor and England bowed out against Italy at U21 Euro 2000.

Ok I absolutely HATE bates!
Maybe it's just coz I'm a manutd supporter but this guy just keeps slagging off young english talent.
It is more or less like telling David Beckham that he is not good enough to play in england!?!

what do you think about this(future england side)?

GK: R.Wright

DF: Wes Brown; Jonathan Woodgate;Rio Ferdinand; Ashley Cole

MF: Steven Gerrard; Fran lampard;Jonathan Greening; Luke Chadwick;Joe Cole

AT: Alan Smith

In this line-up there are all the future england stars and now mr. Bates tries to tell us that there is no english talent.

"er... mr.bates , let me explain what football actually is..."

get the point? http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
