In the afternoon news today, about the "Veiga - Sporting - JVP" case, they said that JVP signed 2 contracts, one of them with that value that supposedly Veiga kept for himself.
If there was Pintinho's signature in the contracts he must have known what was going on and so did Sporting.. Which clears Veiga from those accusations.

I guess he's not such a huge vigarista as some people were trying to make make him afterall...

Tiago_10
20-12-2006, 07:04:PM
Well, it's obvious JVP was the one to gain something with receiving the transfer money on an offshore account (he was on a divorce process and this way the money would be only his).

Surely Sporting knew where the money was, they where the ones who send it, but it's much easier to blame the whole situation on Veiga.

Anyway, as I said before as much as I don't like Veiga this accusations and the ones dealing with the Luxemburg bank came in a strange timing.

And yet, don't really know if it's a good thing that he comes back to Benfica, even though the players seem to like him.

the Portuguese press is saying that Kikin will likely be sold to Tigres or Santos Laguna :( I'm hoping it's just a rumour and Kikin just returned to Mexico for Christmas and not to join another club...

I think most Benfica fans still have faith in him and beleive in his quality, even yesterday against Belenenses he got a lot of applause from the crowd when he got subbed. He just needs more time to adapt, football in Mexico is played at a slower pace than in Portugal and it's not quite as rough....you can still see glimpses of quality when you watch him play though despite never really looking like part of the team out there yet.

Yes, glad Kikin scored two today as well, that'll boost his confidence.
And of course happy about Rui Costa being finally back :bouncy:
He's still nowhere near his best form and played carefully today according to the radio commentators, which is understandable after a 3 months injury. But him being back is also important for the other players, psicologicaly speaking.

I'm sad it didn't work out for Kikin and sad we didn't give him time to adapt.

It's hard to adapt in a team like us that sets out with the obligation to win every match, everyone is expected to deliver in the short term in Benfica and whoever doesn't gets dropped.

Anyway more than a fan of the player I'm a fan of the person, there aren't many players out there with Kikin's personality and professionalism, top class guy, if everyone was like him the world would definitely be a better place (Y).

yep, gotta agree with you.

although i really didn't saw much qualities on him to become the striker we really needed, i'm sad because he deserves it, but we gotta look for our team first and we definitely need someone better.

problem is, i bet they will get some sh*tty player, probably Marcel coming back :(

-----------------------------------------------

that's it, i don't want Miccoli in Benfica next year. As much as i like him, wich i do, i can't stand this anymore... and this can't be our medical staff fault this time.

::shinji::
19-01-2007, 01:18:PM
Yeah, definitely too bad about Kikin, great player but I'm not sure if he would have ever really adapted to playing in Europe. Very Classy individual though, even after arriving back in Mexico he didn't have anything but good things to say about Portugal and Benfica. He still said it was a positive experience and a shame that it didn't work out... not many players left that would do that.

Karyaka could use a lesson from Kikin..

OK, but two of them were against a 3rd Division side :mexican: ; at least Bueno scored in the Champions League. :)

I was also taking in consideration the price that the clubs paid for them (zero against 2.6m, although Benfica made a very good deal selling him for the money they did.)

RuiCosta_10
19-01-2007, 08:24:PM
i don't think Fonseca was crap at all, he's a good player that haven't had a real chance to adapt to the club since Nuno Gomes and Miccoli always play despite their phisic conditions or their form. Maybe not Benfica material, but not crap at all.

Agreed. Putting Kikin and kinder Bueno at the same level is somewhat suspicious I have to say.

::shinji::
19-01-2007, 10:42:PM
Kikin is way better a player than Bueno, c'mon man.. and don't forget that Kikin is the star of his NT and has scored many goals at club level before coming to Benfica, that's why we paid 2.6. Bueno on the other hand was a useless tit at PSG before coming to Sporting, and he's just as useless now..

i mantain my opinion on him, like i also said, when on form he's a fantastic player, and i meant it technically, i could come up with some characteristics that make him one of the best strikers we ever had, but i guess everybody knows it already

problem is we (nor any other team) can't afford this kind of players that probably receives an astronomic wage and only play two games a month, and that's not what i was discussing at that time, i was just discussing his value as a player, cause in all it's not about opinions, it's a fact that Miccoli can't stay with us no matter how good he is.

Hm... Buying a 3rd division defender already injured with our medical staff... This may not be a smart move, considering he's supposed to be our only backup for Luisao and Anderson.

Tiago_10
31-01-2007, 12:07:AM
lol we even buy players who are already injured :S

Virgo
31-01-2007, 12:32:AM
We didn't buy him.

Luisao's agent bought 50% of his pass and loaned him to us. We have an option to keep him at the end of the season but we paid zero for him.

I hear good things but the fact is that he has no experience at this level and especially since he's at Benfica, where the supporters crucify players who make a mistake.

We still need another player that can make RB/CB. With this current squad if Luisao and Nelson get injured there goes all our title hopes.

camacho volverá a portugal

seems like bullsh*t to me, and i don't see him coming to take the place of FS, he's doing a good job, and he still have one year left in the contract. We're playing good football, and we're still on the run for the championship and Uefa...

I'm glad about the PSG draw.. I think we're pretty equal and we'll have lots of support in Paris. (H)

PSG-SLB will be for thousands of portuguese who live and work in france the game of the year, and certainly one of the most expected games of the decade.

i remember when benfica played parma in the cup winners's cup semi final back in 1994, psg was playing arsenal in the other semi final. i was working in paris then, and i can assure you that before the semi final draw, every portuguese fan was hoping to get PSG in the semi final so they could see the game in paris. after the draw there was the hope of having a PSG-SLB final, but infortunately, neither psg or benfica was qualified. that was too bad because both had fantastic teams then. we had rui costa, joao pinto, isaias, yuran, kulkov, schwarz, mozer, and that season some of the most memorable games (3-3 against porto, 6-3 against sporting, 4-4 against leverkusen, 2-1 against parma...). in the other hand psg had their best team ever, always playing for the french title, with some great european results too (they won real madrid twice, and barça, and won the cup winners's cup in 1995, if i'm right) and had great players too like weah, ginola, le guen, lama, ricardo gomes, rai, djorkaeff (i can be mistaken about one or another player for that season, but they played in psg in those years).

now psg certainly isn't so good like it was then, neither benfica (in my opinion). but there is a lot of excitement about this game in paris. my parents live in france and use to support psg, but not this time (H)! they will see the game for sure in the parc des princes (i hope that the game will be in the stade de france, but don't believe in it)
i am myself very tempted to go to paris and see this game: the club of the city where i was born against the club of my heart! i just can't wait to see the stadium full of benfica and portuguese fans!

about our chances against psg, i think it's clearly the worst moment of the season to play against them: they are having very good results since le guen is managing the team, and they are improving, but if we play as we can do, with "garra", like we did against boavista, and with more luck, we will have pretty good chances to go through.

FACT:

Derlei has been a monumental flop since arriving, we would have been a lot better served if we'd kept Kikin.

true, there's some other things i'd like to say:

1. Not putting David Luiz playing against Aves was a huge mistake, as if the fact of the coach and tecnical staff doesn't trust him wich was bad to his confidence, wasn't enough, he also wouldn't have an easier game until the end of the season to play and to adapt to the team. So, he starts with some circustances that weren't any good, playing an European game, with a good team, in a great environment of the opposite fans, with lots of pressure, still had a positive game though.

2. Luisão is incredibly important to our team. A true leader!

3. Anderson once again proves my point, he sucks, he sucks, he sucks! He's damn slow, can't make a decent pass, and he shaked even more than David Luiz during the whole ******* game, while David Luiz made a good second half.

4. I'm pissed, we had it controled, and because we looked a completely mediocre team after Luisão injury we will now have difficulties at home when we should do it easily, specially after that first 30 minutes.

5. Second half was completely ****, we made absolutely nothing apart from the first 5/10 minutes.

I still think we can make it at home, and i think we are better than PSG and should do it without any big problem, i'm just pissed because of our attitude.

- Zoro and Coentrão are the first new faces jumping on board next season. Nuno Assis will be back from it's "not signing for Porto"... ups, drugs ban.

- Miguel Rosa, Miguel Vitor, Sami and Romeu Ribeiro are called-up for the USA tour, and could be on the verge of being promoted to the main squad, aswell as Chinese prodigy Yu Dabao.

Zoro and Coentrão seems like good buys, even though Zoro will win a lot per month i consider that those that are expensive are Moretto, Marco Ferreira, Beto, Manú, Karyaka, etc...

I doubt Rosa, Miguel Vitor and Romeu will be promoted already, they are first year juniors.

Probably only Dabao, Jeremic and Nuno Ferreira will have a chance, and maybe Patafta, but in the last one i don't have many hopes.

They just aren't in the call up because they are all injured, except for Nuno Ferreira.

I think Zoro and Coentrão are good buys.

Just hope Simão stays and we get rid of those players César said: Moretto, Beto, Marco Ferreira, etc. it's just wasting money.. Instead of buying Manú and Paulo Jorge, for instance, we could've gone for a good winger, and so on.

I'd also like to see some of our younger players having a chance on the first team, for a change. But not like the João Coimbra situation, playing only 2 minutes per game, that's absurd. Which leads me to Fernando Santos who, like Eminem said, is zero. Truth is with this coach it's difficult for me to be looking forward to the next season. :S

Oh and of course I'd love to see Miccoli staying (if he retains his current injury-free form) but that's hard to happen, I know.

::shinji::
21-05-2007, 06:59:PM
yeah I'm a bit worried about FS staying in charge, there doesn't seem to be any rumours about him leaving and Rui Costa and Miccoli have said positive things about him. This leads me to beleive he's staying..

What's so annoying about this season is that when you look back, there were so many opportunities to gain points that we wasted... like if only we had scored at home in that cursed game against Boavista, we'd be champions right now :(

Nakamura
21-05-2007, 08:03:PM
I'm also with you: I think it's bad that FS is staying, I don't see us winning anything at all with him... Anyway, as people also know, I'm usually a big proponent of stability and keeping coaches for more than one season, so at least FS will have a platform to work from and there won't be any excuses. Let's hope he makes the most of it!

About our two announced signings for next season, I think they're good ones. But, as it's already been mentioned, the most important thing is to get rid of all the surplus and sign more quality alternatives, especially a striker, a right winger and a central midfielder. I also hope our youth players are given a true chance to play and develop! Just look at Sporting! We can't keep wasting so many talented youngsters, most of the times not even giving them a chance... Pick three of the most promising ones, have faith in them and give them play time!

Although I'm not optimistic at all, I'm already excited for the next season, I always love everything that surrounds the pre-season and the beggining of competition! ^_^

RuiCosta_10
21-05-2007, 11:04:PM
We're not that inferior to Sporting in the youths, actually, lately we've been pretty equal. The problem is about mentality.

While when they need an alternative to a position which they already have a solid option, with proofs, experience and whatever, they go get that alternative to the youths, we rather go get guys that may be good alternatives, but that never justify their wage for their role in the team.

If we actually gave a chance to some youth players instead of Manú, Beto, Marco Ferreira for example we could have got more productive players than the ones i mentioned, with a crappy wage, we gotta change this mentality, because we have lots of values in the youths, we just don't take advantage of it.

Tiago_10
22-05-2007, 12:01:AM
There is also the problem of the agents, and stuff. Clearly some of those buys, Beto, etc. served also/mainly to "put some money in the pocket" for some people.

Veiga, etc. must realize Benfica must be their main concern while they're working, not themselves.

Is that truth, Dudek is close to join Benfica? I want to know, because one commentator mentioned about it at CL final.

David Luiz signed a 5-year contract. (Y)

Think this is a very good move. We should bet more on young promissing players like him.

Great!

Btw, anyone saw the game against AEK? Romeu Ribeiro really impressed me, i mean, i knew by the reports of the junior team games that he was one of the best, but he confirmed the good characteristics that people always give him, good passing, always creating linhas de passe, always pressing the opposite man, good positioning (Y)

João Coimbra will be loaned to Nacional in the upcoming season.

He's a good prospect and hopefully now he'll have more playing time to get better. At least it can't be worse than playing like 5 minutes per game.

Looks like Manuel Fernandes will return to Benfica.

Link here (http://www.record.pt/noticia.asp?id=748390&idCanal=11).

If this does happen, now that it seems likely I believe he'll be an important player for us next season.

Cardozo may be close to sign (http://www.ojogo.pt/23-116/artigo639656.asp).

Apparently there is an agreedment between the player's agent and Benfica, but there still are some negotiations going on between the clubs. Hope we don't screw this one up.

Ok, let's dream a bit...

Quim

Zoro----Luisão-----David Luiz-----Léo

Petit

Katsouranis-----Manuel Fernandes

Simão

Miccoli/Bergessio-----Cardozo

And with the likes of Miguelito, Karagounis, Assis, Rui Costa and Nuno Gomes on the bench...

For the first time i can say this direction is working well in the pre-season, cleaning the house (Manduca, Beto and Amoreirinha sold, Manú, Moretto, Marco Ferreira and Paulo Jorge on their way out) and buying quality instead of quantity (Y)

We are getting dangerous (H)

I just hope Manuel Fernandes apologises and comes back to us, to play his guts out with our shirt. He'd be the most important signing in midfield this year.
