Obafemi Martins was the bomb today. first a brilliant goal out of nowhere, then an assist a minute later, just great to watch.

We were a bit lucky in the sense Spurs had a lot of the ball... But we totally got screwed over in the first half the players in white and the referees.

Yes Spurs deserved to go ahead, but not like they did, how the linesman wasn't able to do hie job properly when he was standing in the perfect spot is just annoying. Then you have Berbatov acting like a petty w*nker basically kicking Given everytime he could, then Chimbonda slapping Butt at the break... I think karma kicked in for us in the second half. Anyway it was a great game.

Great footage of MARTINS' goal vs Spurs: Youtube Link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQu9-lf3vtM) !!!

Martins still needs to be hitting the target on a much more regular basis. This kind of goal from him was on the cards though I guess, but you can tell (even yesterday at times) he still needs to mature a bit.

Kulixs
15-01-2007, 04:08:PM
I think maybe people are being a bit too overly critical of Martins, the goals I've see from him all seem to be clinical.

You won't ever see a more unstoppable shot than the one yesterday, nobody in the world would have stopped that.

It's weird how this Newcastle team have just roared to life. With this kinda form I dont feel so bad dropping points to them. I think they could beat Chelsea at St. James' Park(crosses fingers).

If you guys got better depth you'd probably be challenging for the champions league.

He is doing incredibly well. Proof of that is the fact he's been playing there for a couple months almost now. He is a true pro, so you know he'll play wherever he asked to and won't moan about it. It was another heroic performance from him at the weekend against Spurs. He's adding to his legendary status on Tyneside with every game tbh.

I'm sure it will be Sam Allardyce. Shepherd has been talking that he never had contact with Sam, but i would be a little surprised if it was somebody else. I hope Roeder stays in some capacity because he is a good coach.

i love the direction allardyce is taking newcastle already! got rid of waste of space defenders like bramble and moore and from what ive heard hes interested in rozehnal, baines, neill and ben haim. ive also heard he wants hyppia. from what he did at bolton though i dont think id mind hyppia as he seems to get the best out of already experienced but aging players. i mean look at how campo did and he wasnt exactly a youngun. ive not heard much on the striker front however. if we get barton i think allardyce is just the type of person who would control him, diouf had minimal troubles in his time with allardyce and i think he'll silence all the other egos at the club aswell.

england game: dyer was lively!!! definitely deserves to be playing estonia on that performance. he had pace to burn against some of brazils back four

i think allardyce will go with two men up front still. he said that every manager wants two people for every position and mentioned shola and viduka as competition for each other so i guess hes looking to get the best out of all 4 to play for the two positions. i think barton can be good and i still believe under allardyce we'll get the best from him
