Just saw that in in Brazil they got 3 lip readers to try to find out what Materazzi said.

Aparently he was insulting his sister, calling her a "Prositute" at least 2 times. (:/)

Truth is we will never know but if it was racist Zidane should have reported it to FIFA by now.

Hey guys I think you act as you've never heard an insult in your life, and want to say that on a football field players never insult each others!

Men where do you live? I never expected a football player to be a teacher of good manners!!! Most of the players have poor education because they privileged football to studies.

So please don't pretend to be so surprised for such episodes. But remember: a thing is speaking (badly speaking) and another thing is hitting an opponent! For a headbutt the regulation is strict, you go off! (:/)

For now, I don't care about Materazzi. We don't know what he said yet. If he thinks provoking by insulting other players' families is a justified football tactic then so be it.

Most importantly, Zidane will not be any less of a legend in my book. He is human after all.

He is still the world's best player for the past decade. When he has the ball, football becomes art. I'm priveleged to have seen him play.

He is up there with Maradona and Pele. Living legend. And if Materazzi really did insult him very badly, I'm glad he headbutted him. Zidane is human, not a robot.

Not true. Zidane is human, he's nothing more. We expect him to be bigger than we would in those situations, but he's just the same as us. He was carrying that arm injury, and had been running for nearly 120 minutes. I don't expect anyone to hold their fuse in that situation.

UPDATE 1-World-Materazzi denies calling Zidane "terrorist

ROME, July 10 (Reuters) - Italy defender Marco Materazzi on Monday denied a report that he had called Zinedine Zidane a "dirty terrorist" seconds before the French captain head-butted him in Sunday's World Cup final.

"It is absolutely not true, I did not call him a terrorist. I'm ignorant. I don't even know what the word means," the Italian news agency Ansa quoted Materazzi as saying after the Italian team returned to Rome.

"The whole world saw what happened on live TV," he added.

The Paris-based anti-racism group SOS Racism had earlier quoted well informed sources as saying Materazzi had apparently used the phrase.

"According to several very well informed sources from the world of football, it would seem that the Italian player Marco Materazzi called Zinedine Zidane a 'dirty terrorist'," SOS Racism said in a statement.

Zidane, the son of Algerian immigrants, was shown a red card after the incident and Italy went on to win on penalties after the match was tied 1-1 following extra time.

SOS Racism called for an inquiry and said world soccer's governing body FIFA had recently toughened sanctions against racism.

"It's for this reason that SOS Racism asks in a determined fashion for FIFA to shed light on this altercation and that sanctions laid out in the official rules be applied should this be the case," SOS Racism said.

French television reported that Zidane would talk about the incident "in the coming days".

Materazzi, 32, told Gazetta dello Sport: 'I held his shirt for a few seconds only, then he turned to me and talked to me, jeering.

'He looked at me with a huge arrogance and said, `If you really want my shirt I'll give it to you afterwards'. I replied with an insult, that's true.'

Materazzi has not elaborated on what he did say, but one report suggested he responded with: "I'd rather take the shirt off your wife"

Materazzi denies terrorist insult

Zidane reacted to Materazzi's insult by headbutting the defender
Italy defender Marco Materazzi says he did insult France's Zinedine Zidane during the World Cup final, just before Zidane was sent off for a headbutt.
But Materazzi denied reports he called Zidane a "terrorist" or used insulting language towards Zidane's mother.

"It was the kind of insult you will hear dozens of times and just slips out of the ground," Materazzi is quoted in Italian paper La Gazetta dello Sport.

"I didn't call Zidane a terrorist and certainly didn't mention his mother."

Zidane looked at me with super arrogance... it's true I shot back with an insult

Marco Materazzi

Zidane, who was born and grew up in Marseille, is the son of Algerian immigrants and has suffered taunts about his heritage throughout his football career.

But Materazzi added: "I am ignorant, I don't even know what an Islamic terrorist is; my only terrorist is her," he said pointing to his 10-month-old daughter.

"I did not bring up Zidane's mother; for me a mother is sacred."

Materazzi and Zidane became involved in a verbal spat with 10 minutes to go in extra-time with France and Italy drawing 1-1 in the World Cup final.

After Materazzi's insult Zidane shoved his head into the Italian's chest and was sent off, with Italy going on to win the match 5-3 on penalties.

"I held his shirt, for only a few seconds," said Materazzi, who had scored Italy's equaliser after Zidane put France ahead from the penalty spot.

"He turned towards me and scoffed at me, looking at me with super arrogance, up and down.

"He said 'if you really want my shirt, you can have it later.'

"It's true, I shot back with an insult."

Just what did Materazzi say to provoke this reaction from Zidane?

Media organisations across Europe have been trying to decipher what Materazzi said to provoke such an extreme reaction from Zidane.

But it remains unclear exactly what was said and the BBC has broadcast two different versions.
BBC Radio Five Live asked for help from a deaf lip reader, Jessica Rees, who read the words phonetically to an Italian translator.

She deciphered the insult as being "you're the son of a terrorist whore" - a translation also carried by many national newspapers in Britain on Tuesday.

The BBC's Ten O'Clock News also called in experts to study the television footage of the incident and determined the following:

Materazzi's first word to Zidane was "no" before he then told him to "calm down".

He then accused him of being a "liar" and wished "an ugly death to you and your family" on the day the Frenchman's mother had been taken to hospital ill. This was followed by "Go f*** yourself".

Zidane's agent, Alain Migliaccio, has hinted that Zidane will soon reveal exactly what was said by Materazzi.

Piara Powar, national co-ordinator for the anti-racism group Kick It Out told Five Live, said: "If there was a racial slur then Fifa needs to act."

Keith Hackett, head of referees in England, said that if it can be proved that Matterazzi racially abused the Frenchman, then Fifa should take retrospective action for "the good of the game."

Materazzi is awesome, yes I'm biased because I am an inter fan. He was man of the match, a ******* legend. He conceives a PK, scores a goal, and convinces Zidane to headbutt him and get a red card, what more do you want? Legend.

And please... I've seen these videos of his brutal challanges. There are what? 10? You guys just love to pick on him for some odd reason, maybe cause he's so awesome. There are loads and loads of dirty soccer players, most of them are much more annoying then Materazzi, they like to whine and pretend to be a good guy altough they are a b!tch... infact almost every soccer player is dirty. I watch Inter games, and he dosen't do this every game, infact he has gotten much better... and some of his late tackles aren't becase he wants to hurt someone it's because he miss-times them.

W/e I stick with what I said and think Materazzi is great. Infact I'm gonna get a signiture with him. (H)

Touché!

That's it.

doesnt matter if Materazzi said he raped his mother or whatever, you cannot do that on a football pitch.

The french fans will forgive Zidane and remember all of his brilliant moments, but im afraid the rest of the world will never forget his one moment of madness.

Materazzi is a C#NT and should be banned for at least a year :p :jambo:
He's a sneaky bastard and I hope they get him this time, Zidane is not getting all worked up for nothing so it must've been really insulting :o
This season when Ajax played vs Inter he called Trabelsi a 'monkey' and Trabelsi was furious after, of course Materazzi denied it but more players were able to hear it and the UEFA what did they do?? Nothing :nape:

İ M NOT FRENCH İ M A MEMBER OF THAT REST OF THE WORLD AND İ AM PROUD OF ZİDANE AND THAT İNCLUDES WHAT HE HAVE DONE
Materazzi is one of the ugliest players ever, i was sure he deserved that headbutt cause no one does that for no reason, everyone says he must be professional, oooohh i love that word PROFESSİONAL. people talk like PROFESSİONAL means something like those robots in the movies , wake up planet earth, wake up these people are human too, if you insult them or their families they can be mad also, and for most of the italian players its how they claim their victory , LOOK WHAT İ WROTE BEFORE MATERAZZİ ADMİTED WHAT HE HAVE DONE, THESE PEOPLE ARE ALL THE SAME, İTS NOT ME BEİNG RACİST İTS THE TRUTH

i have so many italian friends from naples or from the north but what i have learned from them is this=
İf you see an italian getting himself in such an incident, you could almost be certain that the whole incident is the italian's fault.

Why isn't Zidane the bad guy of the incident? Only because he's one of the best players of football history?
C'mon guys it's normal for football players to insult each other, it always happens and it always will.
You can't call Materazzi a racist just because he insulted Zidane. So Zidane is the only player in the world that can't be insulted during a match?

switch Materazzi with Hitler and Zidane with Jesus Christ. it doesnt matter if Adolf is rolling on the floor in pain, that is still one sweet headbutt by JC :D. and no im not comparing either of those guys to those historical figures, so stop twisting your nipples in anger.

Thats right baby, we are even more fully equipped, will have a huge boost of confidence from not being one of the corrupt Italian Clubs (H), and maybe will be given a point advantage to the those clubs...
The league is ours.

Or hey if Juve and Milan are relegated we could already BE the league champions.

Wow, what an ignorant, biased, and stupid point... First of all we don't even KNOW what Materazzi said yet, he could have just said "calm down" and the Zidane does that... I think we now know Materazzi didn't say anything about his race... which is cool. He probably did provoke him in some way.

Yet what you are saying is forgive and praise the person who headbutted someone with all his force during a match (World Cup FINAL! HIS LAST GAME) for some words that were said to him and ban the person that said them (you don't even know what he said... for a year.

Thats really backwards.

I am actually supprised they still gave his the award, and if they were to fine or do something to Materazzi they should also give Zidane a (larger) fine.

---------

What I would like the hear from a Zidane fan is that they kinda take it as a joke, they know it was wrong, and they are glad Zidane stuck up for himself but it was incredibly stupid and I do believe it destroyed alot fo France's chances for winning (team morale).

Zidane looked at me with super arrogance... it's true I shot back with an insult
WOW?!?! SUPER arrogance he says. Maybe thats because Zidane is in the pantheon of greats already and poor old Marco is just the sh*ttier second coming of Sinisa Mihailovic

Ok, he shot back with an insult for the "super" arrogance Zidane showed, but he wont say what it is, and then plays the bizarre "dont know what that is" card again. When I am guilty of something, I like to be pretty ambiguious and confusing too

maradona had nothing to do with drugs in a world cup final, where more than 2 billion people watched him - zidane's headbutt will never be forgotten, believe me, the only way it could, is maybe another world cup final with france, but zidane's an old man and his career's over. people will always remember the headbutt, as it happened in a memorable match and zizou will always be regarded as a psychopath.

lol you are so wrong, i have clearer memories of him giving us our first world cup and then winning the euro 00, playing injured in wc 02, being pissed at the team during euro '04, and being the best player yet again during wc '06 than that headbutt.

Materazzi is ruthless and coldhearted; He's the type of player that will do anything to fu.ck up his opponents and after watching him play in Seria A he deserved what he got.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5142970568688502787&q=Materazzi

He's a really a disgrace for football but that's not new. There are some terrible actions in this video

Maybe Materatzzi shouldn't play football because of it's violence but that could also be applied to other players. Don't expect him to be very clever either.

Anyway, all this doesn't justify Zidane's action. It doesn't matter what he italian said. He has been an amazing player but he has also had many other violent incidents in his career. His football skill can't hidde his dirty attitude in some crucial moments

What would you say if it wasn't Zidane how had done this? Foget his name and look at his action.

If Materazzi indeed called Zidane's mother a "terrorist prostitute", then I fully condone Zizou's response. I would have killed the SOB.

F*uck a career without incidents, right?

This doesn't even put a dent into Zizou's fame and greatness, IMO. I consider him as great as before the final.

Nobody's denying Zidane's a great. He IS one of the greats. His reaction was just stupid, unless Materazzi said something about his ethnicity or mother.
