Ouch. (H)

OK, I know it's preseason for Celtic and that's a big advantage for DC United, but c'mon... 4-0? I didn't even know who Andy Metcalf is, and he friggin' scored.

Chicago Fire 1-2 Club America

Both teams used reserve squads (I know Chicago did, and I assume Club America did as well. Someone can check here (http://chicago.fire.mlsnet.com/MLS/scoreboard/game.jsp?match=07122006_ZZZCHI) and tell me.)

Oh and yeah, Chivas USA are now officially the laughing stock of MLS (again). They just got eliminated from the US Open Cup by an amateur team. I sh*t you not. Lost to Roma FC (Dallas) on penalty kicks after 120 scoreless minutes. The other MLS teams involved all won their games.

Most of the guys that started for America are starters but I wouldn't take the result too seriously, their in preseason like the rest of the Mexican teams are right now.

MLS teams have done well against foreign clubs before, not too surprising a result (well, maybe the scoreline)

Since when didn Mexican teams have a preseason? I thought those guys play year-round, with only a month seperating Apertura from Clausura and vice versa.

Nah, the Clausura usually runs from late January to Early May and the Apertura goes from early August to early-mid December. Most teams get 3 weeks more of pre-season If they dont make the playoffs.

He's slowly but steadily making progress. He's now a regular starter for a club that's only lost once in 18 games this season, so that says something in itself. He's hinted that he'll be going to Europe soon, maybe within a year.

Here's a goal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6pU0gia6Xg&search=dc%20united) he scored a couple of weeks ago.

he's already said he is .. on PTI during the world cup..btw this guy should've been starting a while ago so he could've gotten his feet wet..but a win over CELTIC is outstanding.. :jap:

well the european teams really don't give a toss about friendly matches whereas US teams are even more motivated and feel they have something to prove.

The fact that you started this thread is a confirmation of that.

when did Celtic start bringing in subs? Because the game looked even during the first half.

haha, celtic got hammered...

pitch looks awful, but I guess that's what you get when you play on a baseball field.

Young David Marshall, the greatest goalkeeper ever.

Celtic looked dreadful though, I could maybe understand if it was their first game back but it wasn't. Caldwell at the back and the headless chicken Miller up front :clapwap: and Lennon somehow managed to look slower than he did last year!

Mind you, it's often the teams with a piss poor pre-season that do best when the real thing comes round...

Celtic play Chivas tomorrow, in New York.

That should be interesting.

BTW, Necaxa (who?) beat Landon and the Gals, 1 - 0.

No idea what to make of that game, from what I hear Cluj were the best side we'd faced all of the 3 games we've been in Austria. No doubting we need to up the gears for our CLQs, and to lose an injury-time goal is obviously frustrating. :(
