View Full Version : will rafa marquez play???
mexican pride 09-08-2006, 09:58:AM do u think rafa marquez from barcelona will play as a starter this season? some ppl were sayint that he might but weren't sure. Because barcelona got some reenforcements and the defense might b full this time and they were thinking of putting marquez as a defensive midfield which he has done with AS monaco and Atlas. But like i said nobody is sure right now......so what do you think about that???
b-ytter 09-08-2006, 11:15:AM why don't u ask in the Barcelona thread?
Vedran-10 09-08-2006, 12:25:PM I think he will.
If Thuram manages to beat him to the CB spot, he'll play at DM, which is where I prefer him to be.
Filipower 09-08-2006, 04:22:PM yeah, rafa marquez is huge when playing DM:rockman:

Its between him and Edmilson jostling for a spot in the startin 11 since they can both play at CB and DM.Things could get ugly! :jap:
Mauricio 09-08-2006, 05:55:PM And dont forget Motta he plays as a DM a lot (I dont think he is a good player but the manager seems to like him), so it would be a difficult season for MArquwz
Elite Waxo 09-08-2006, 06:47:PM i think he will....i dont think they can afford to have a "extra comunitario"(sory, don't know how to say it in english) on the bench
Vedran-10 09-08-2006, 09:14:PM I don't think Motta will challenge Rafa for the spot. Sure, Rijkaard likes him, but he is too injury prone, and will definitely get injured during the course of the season, so he can't really pose a threat to Rafa for the DM spot or to anyone for any spot, as a matter of fact.
I don't think Edmilson has a chance, either. He also tends to get injured often and, also, Rafa is a much better player IMO.
I can see Marquez starting :rockman:
Both Motta and Edmilson will surely get their share of matches as we will play a minimum of 52 games this season.
jimorrizon 09-08-2006, 09:20:PM Well Rijkard has confirmed that Marquez will play in the starting 11 with Puyol as a CB. To Rijkard Marquez is one of his main players of Barca, although he still has the option of using him as a DM....

I think we'll play like that until Thuram establishes himself as our CB. Then Rafa will move to DM.
dubcrazy 09-08-2006, 10:08:PM marquez is much much better at DM i think one of the best in that position but i am probably overrating him :jambo:
Filipower 09-08-2006, 10:36:PM puyol----thuram
----marquez----
what's wrong with that?
Seán D 09-08-2006, 10:36:PM unfortunately we cannot predict the future. you don't know what might happen, thuram might get injured, rafa might get injured etc. just wait and see and enjoy

You're not
zlojack 09-08-2006, 10:45:PM Remeber that Thuram is now 34 yrs old, despite excellent conditioning and a great attitude. Remember, while he had a great WC, that is a tournament, not a full season. He was brought in to be a rotation player, and to give professionalism and veteran leadership like Larsson did in the past two seasons.
Marquez is 1st choice....and watch for him to move to DM with Thuram in the centre of defense for big matches....
Seán D 09-08-2006, 10:58:PM thuram in my opinion will be a key player. despite his age he is still very good. he never ceases to impress me.

That barca kit sure is ugly. Why change a beautiful thing.
Anywayz, hey guy being 34 has nothing to do with it.He has more stamina than most, which the doctor purred about at his medical. He is in there for the long haul.Marquez fighting with Edmilson for that DM spot.
ronnifan9 10-08-2006, 01:57:AM Anywhere bro.
RCB, CDM, RB...you name it. I know, I though the same thing too when I heard the Thuram addition but it was really necessary for Barca's CB rotation. I guess this means more time for Rafa in the midfield. mother!
mexican pride 17-08-2006, 08:01:AM alright so some of u said that thuram is good and can last for a while dispite his age so do u think he's gonna make it to play the next world cup?? He's gonna b 38 i think???
SlowSilver 17-08-2006, 09:28:AM No, of course not. Silly question really (:/) Didn't he retire from international football at one point?
