Well, be a fan of a club or NT team is not always glory and happy days, so i was wondering if u ever felt like frustrated with your team or any player you like

In mi case I can say like almost all Mexicans i have more than 1 let downs with our NT, the 4 past WCs i felt very frustrated cuz i knew we had team to beat the round of 16´s

but specially in 2002 that loss against US i felt so upset, not only cuz we lost againts our greatets rivals, the thing is that i didnt see any type of motivation for winning that game, starting with the coach and his crappy subs and the poor mentality of all our players , that is my worst day in my football fan "career"

euro 2000 SF, missing two penalities in normal time against ten man Italy, end up losing on penalties to them

2002 qualifying, stupid draw against Portugal after being 2-0 up, and that dumb loss to Ireland meaning Holland misses out on qualifying for WC

euro 2004 - stupid loss to portugal

world cup 2006 - stupid game against portugal, annoyed at ref for red cards. figo should have been red carded for the headbutt, and if he was then boulharooz wouldnt have been red carded minutes later. annoying game

so many others and alot of things at MU aswell, like Ruud leaving, us not signing enough quality players, the fact that every season it seems like every other club is signing better players and we end up with **** all, but it doesnt matter that much because i love the club

Zidane isn't my favourite player but he's one of the best and that headbutt really disappointed me. I thought he was better than that. :(

well, "the canibal" should've been sent off after 15 minutes in the first place.

my biggest disappointement was clearly portugal's game vs. south korea at the 2002 wc...

04 semifinals vs manutd. i really felt we could have won that game, and all those little things going wrong ****ed us over. could have had a very very sweet double.
04 QF CL chelski. we beat them 3 times that season. made them look like they suck (which they did), but our fu.cking nerves in CL games was just the usual crap.
05 PL vs manutd away. the 49 and out game. we were so positive going into the game. doing a great job (except not scoring) and it cost us. really really dissapointed with this one.

I fume __every-time__ Argentina lose, let alone get put out of a tornament.

One that comes to mind for Real Madrid is when we lost to Juve 3-1 in Turin a few years back when Hierro gave three goals to them due to his awful marking. That game made me sick

Since this includes the day your favorite player disappointed you, I suppose when Keano left United. It disappointed me on the team end and on his behalf as well. On one hand, just about every United supporter knew that Richardson (left back), Smith (midfield) and Fletcher were not world class, and that Rio's performances were slipping and definitely not worthy of the media-suggested 120k per week. But at the same time, most United supporters who know Keano know that he doesn't put up with ****e, he speaks his mind - Ferguson and the United board knew this, and although he may have overstepped the lines, I don't think they should have negated his MUTV segment. At least he got a tribute match, and got to live out his other dream of wearing the green hoops. I just thought it would be another season before he left us, and under better circumstances.

Also this past season, crashing out of the Champions League group stages in 4th place below 3 solid-enough but not brilliant sides. It was just embarassing for a club of United's stature to not even make it to the UEFA Cup, but the way we were playing in Europe, we wouldn't have fared too well there either.

For NT, the 2002 World Cup semifinal. What was it, 11 seconds into the game and Korea conceded a stupid goal?

Also, the Korean performances against France and Switzerland this World Cup let me down, although in hindsight they did draw to the tournament runner-up. The Swiss confusion goal really made me upset, not only for the indecisive refereeing, but because the Koreans stopped playing. For a team that had earned a lot of respect in June for their tireless play, I half-expected them to do what most teams wouldn't and play through the situation. I was extremely upset when the final whistle blew, I didn't want to talk to anyone at all. I went downstairs and hit the heavy bag for a good 3 hours after that match.

Probably USA-Portugal from WC2002... and not even because of the result, because the Americans earned it, but it was the Portuguese players attitude on the field that pissed me off. Just a few days earlier I saw all these photos of them out shopping with their gay-ass designer clothes on like they were on vacation, then during the game they the put forth such a half-assed performance and showed no pride for the team.

Not really sure if it counts, but I was majorly disappointed when Fowler left Liverpool. We all know he wasn't the player he was at the start of his career, that injuries came around more often than goals by that time... but still... I couldn't help but feel really sad.

When David Beckham left Manchester United - he was my hero/idol at the time, he was my favourite player since 1996. I blamed him squarely for betrayal and lack of effort in his final season - even when he kicked Simeone in 98 WC I still supported him. It wasn't for a long time that I began to see the sequence of events that moved him on, at the time I believed it was his wish to leave. However having read much on the subject, I can see that Sir Alex Ferguson played a major part, and perhaps given his subsequent form at Madrid that it was the right thing to do.

I'm also a fan of Cristiano Ronaldo (only natural I suppose as he inherited Beckham's #7 shirt at United) He's great to watch when he's ripping defenders apart, but he disapointed me in the World Cup with the constant diving and moaning. It wasn't so much the Wayne Rooney incident, but the constant hints that he wanted to go to Real Madrid that dimmed my support for him. Though he's still my favourite player to watch and he looked in good form today so I guess he's winning me over again.

On the international front, I'm English - disapointment is the norm in major tournaments!

great disappointments... there is a lot of them... :(

my club: benfica:
- champions cup final in 88, when we lose it for PSV on PK...
- cup winners cup (the extinct C2) semi final in 94 that we lose (home victory 2-1, and we lose the second leg 0-1 on the last 8 minutes) against parme. we had a wonderful team and played very entertaining football, with players like Yuran, Rui Costa, João Pinto, Isaías, schwarz... and on the first leg, when the result was already 2-1, we missed a penalty kick...
- when the president fired the coach toni, who had just won the league and reached the semi-final a talked above, to hire artur jorge (who did a awful work, by the way...)

my NT: france:
- world cup semi final in 82 (i was 8 years old, but i remember, it was a national tragedy though) against germany... we were winning 3-1 in the extra time... then germany scored 2 times and won on PK
- the 94 world cup qualifying. we lost it on the very last minute of the last game against bulgary (great goal by Kostadinov :( ) ... we had some wonderful players then: cantona, ginola, papin, deschamps...
- the 2002 world cup... what a waste... :nape:
- of course, this last world cup final that we lost on PK against italy... i am still sad... :nape:

disappointments of favourite players:
- of course the zidane headbutt......................
- when papin left marseille (my second favourite club) to milan in 1991 or 92 (?)

this thread is so relevant, because i think that what shows and proves to ourselves (and to others) how much we like/love football is more how much we are sad when we lose rather than how much we are happy when we win

When my favorite national team Mexico was in the round of 16 in the 1998 world cup and they were winning Germany 1-0 then out of nowhere Klinsmann to tie it, and then bierhoff scores to give Germany the lead in the 85th minute. They went on to win us in the game. U was so sad.
The same thing at the 2002 world cup were Mexico lost to U.S.A 2-0. They din't play good at all in that game. No heart either. There are many more things but it is too hard for me to reminse. :boohoo:

There have been many such moments, but unfortunately with more success they have recently been causing more burning cheeks and ears rather than tears

Though he was probably my favorite player for many years, Wise's antics used to embarrass me a good bit. Tough as nails but also dirty as they came, and though there werent many players in our side like that at the time, cheering for a guy like that was a bit tough at times. Still love 'im though

In the same vein, the antics of Jody Morris. Ugh. Mostly the off the field stuff

Many Bates things.
-The weak ass dismissal/resignation of Gullit. Everyone knew he was just a stodgy old bastard
-The utterly pathetic treatment of the Harding Family. So glad Roman righted that wrong

On the field:
-the Kanu hat trick
-Likewise, losing to the Arse in Cardiff, 2002. Is it any wonder I hate them so
-Losing to Barca in 1999
though honestly not much used to bother me on the field because we were overachievers

More recently, on the field
-The Monaco second leg
-Conceeding 4 to Charlton
-The Carvalho hold on Valdes (dont feel bad because of the awful pen call before it)
-Losing to Barca the next year
-Being beat by Liverpool in two straight semi finals

-Supposedly bidding for Ronaldo, Salgado, Stevie Me, Knoberto Carlos and Henry, all obscene money for guys I disliked and didnt want. We needed to write our own story as Ranieri said
-the Ashley Cole debacle. The Rio debacle (Kenyon)
-The percieved disrespect I saw for Ranieri (still felt he deserved another chance)
-Though our players are crucified for it, Robben and Drogba should stay on their feet
-Some of Jose's more riddiculous antics and soundbites
-Essien's horror tackle(s). The new Wise, naturally
-The continued pursuit of Ashley Cole despite having Bridge (Kenyon)
-The deterioration of our relationship with Billy Gallas (Kenyon)
-The sale of Guddy and Duff. Those were dark days for me personally this summer (Kenyon)
-The idiocy of the Obi Mikel scandal. I was willing to let him go to avoid the bad press (Kenyon)

I know thats alot, but I am a very humble and quiet person, so to see the club with so much swagger and brashness perturbs me a bit. And to me, again, Kenyon bears alot of the blame for his stupidity. To me, his villany has blown Bates's out of the water

[/U]

yes that Kostadinov goal during the last wcq broke my heart, its like it could've been stopped but everyone just thought he was going to miss or something.

in 2002 i was more dissapointed with the coach for playing Djorkaeff in the playmakers role instead of Micoud who was the natural substitution to Zidane, also for risking it during that meaningless game.

about Germany, i don't regret the pks, we should've won that game during regular time, but it was all a big sequence of unfortunate events (Henry getting knocked out cold, Vieira's injury, Zidane losing his cool), besides it was our fault for trying to play boring football which has never been our way, i would've rather lost that game on regular time or win it on regular time, but not on pks.

Paris Saint Germain

- every trainer we had while Okocha was on the team, here was a playmaker who could make miracles, yet somehow every trainer insisted on playing him out of position.....
- Nicolas Anelka when he came back....
- Laurent Robert leaving us, although i think it was the coach's fault.
- us not being able to retain Mikel Arteta.
- again the board not wanting to keep Sorin even though he wanted to stay.
- Heinze leaving cuz he wanted to play "central back" he ended up playing left back.
- Cana, Fiorese and Dehu our captain leaving for l'OM!.
- and finally not being in Europe since '03 is a huge dissapointment.

When Southampton were relegated, and when Southampton FC got to the 2003 FA cup final - we did not put up a fight at all and looked resigned to losing to Arsenal from the very beginning.
