View Full Version : EA reveales FIFA 07 on Xbox 360! (Report)
sa33ood 23-08-2006, 02:56:PM Here is what was posted on fifa07 official web page.
The future of football was unveiled today at the Leipzig Games Convention in Germany
Electronic Arts has revealed the dynamic new engine that will debut in FIFA 07 on the Xbox 360™ system and lead the franchise into the future.
Two years in development, the new engine is the single largest investment EA has ever made in the football business. The engine is poised to redefine the way sports videogames play and feel. A physics-based and data-driven technology, the engine delivers individuality of player movement, authentic athletic motion and an unprecedented level of responsiveness.
“Get ready for the first real next-gen football experience. FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 will deliver athletes that move as fluidly, as realistically and as intuitively as athletes in real life,” said Andrew Wilson, Senior Producer for FIFA 07 at EA. “This engine is the most sophisticated sports technology we’ve ever produced – it gives us the ability to transform football as it is played today but more importantly, it is a dynamic technology that promises to deliver new innovations for years to come.”
The new engine creates a decision-making layer in FIFA 07 that gives each individual player a ’football brain’ - a level of intelligence never before seen in a videogame. Player characteristics are now based on brand-new traits and twice the number of attributes, so no two players move in exactly the same way. Instead, they behave like the individual athletes we see gracing the pitch week-in, week-out.
FIFA 07 allows players to recognize their favorite athletes by the way they move. The human biomechanics of each athlete are taken into account and replicated in the game because the new engine is data-driven -- the player motion is driven by individual attributes, physical characteristics and for the first time, traits.
“The FIFA 07 engine unlocks ultra realistic player motion and delivers complete responsiveness due to its ability to branch animations and the real-time calculation of real human biomechanics. Essentially our software engineers are writing human decision-making code,” said Hugues Ricour, Producer for FIFA 07 on the Xbox 360.
FIFA 07 also introduces new ball physics, a central component to the feel and finesse of a football game. For the first time, the ball is alive with its own independent physics, resulting in truly unpredictable gameplay. Now any type of pass or shot is possible and goals will feel natural and unique.
Bringing the football experience beyond the videogame to truly deliver a complete media package for football fans is the online component to FIFA 07 which streams up-to-the-minute match results via real-time podcasts and news ticker. Nowhere else will football fans find such a comprehensive destination for football stats, information and real-world news.
With this new engine and licenses for 27 leagues from over 20 nations, FIFA 07 on the Xbox 360 will create the most refined football gameplay experience to date.
“EA SPORTS is focused on gameplay and online innovations. We believe fans will feel the difference in FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 the first time they pick up the controller,” said Clive Downie, VP, Marketing, EA Europe.
Developed at EA Canada in Vancouver, B.C., the team is composed of football fans hailing from around the world. Drawn from France, England, Japan, Brazil, Russia Australia and beyond, the team may cross 10 different languages but they all speak “football”.

mmmm Xbox 360 FIFA (drooling noise)
I hope it will have create a team/player too - but I'm sure I'll cope without if it's as good as it looks!

cashless 23-08-2006, 06:02:PM They talk like they just found the cure for AIDS or something. It will be interesting to see how this pans out. EA have a history of talking up their products to ridiculus magnitudes, but once you have it, it's the same **** you've been playing for the last five years.
dipset 23-08-2006, 06:13:PM pics look nice except the fact they all look like they on steroids
LFCFAN 23-08-2006, 09:49:PM Check out the images here:

Come on, look at the backgrounds, grass and shadows, it is pretty unbelievable that this should be real-time. And there is no playing view with score-board and the player-select. It just lookes way too polished.
sa33ood 23-08-2006, 10:14:PM Believe it or not LFCFAN, trust me on this one. I work on 3D rendering and studio work for over 6 years now, in other words I'm a graphic freak; so believe me when I say that the power and system specs of Xbox 360 can handle even more than what you've seen in the pics, I'm so serious about this, not trying to overact or something.
The final product is going to be even better than this, and if you use HD TV's then you are going to be in what I like to call "gaming heaven".
I know that the graphics seem crazy, but I can assure you, as many other game editing members in here (NK & Ockham) that these pics are 100% from IN-GAME.
That's why I'm going crazy already. :crazyboy:
FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 team used these words to describe their game in the official report on the EA FIFA 07 web site:

13. Twice the number of attributes.
14. No two players move in exactly the same way.
15. Human biomechanics!! (insane stuff)
16. Ultra realistic player motion.
17. Branch animations and the real-time calculation of real human biomechanics!! (OMG)
18. Human decision-making code.
19. For the first time, the ball is alive with its own independent physics.
I'm f**king dieing over here... It's like if I'm dreaming, I swear to god! I was waiting to hear such things since the day I was born.
The words that they used are too crazy; it's either that the EA team has gone crazy or that they are doing what I use to think is "mission impossible"!!

No it can't, the xbox 360 is no better than a 7900 gtx graphics card and i've got 2 in an sli rig
Have to say though, pc users get ass raped when it comes to new graphics on Fifa or Pes.
If the PC can take it, then bloody do the graphics the same as the next gen versions!
I hate the fact the PC games potential is wasted
My pc would wipe the floor with both the xbox 360 and ps3
renene76ar 23-08-2006, 11:45:PM What I've been saying these past few days! If the xbox version we were seeing looked that good. Then I knew the 360 version would be crazy !!!! BUt man what they have shown today for 360 screens including their report are just plain insane!!! Never have they made a sports game like this !!! My girlfriend who HATES video games couldn't believe what she was seeing or reading!!! EA you got the WORLD waiting for a some gameplay footage now!!! What gameplay footage I saw today from PRO EVO 6 does not impress me what so ever!!! LET THE REIGN OF EA FUTBOL BEGIN!!!
sa33ood 24-08-2006, 12:26:AM renene76ar, you saw footage of the PES 6 on Xbox 360 or just PS2?
nickclubman 24-08-2006, 12:51:AM pics look nice except the fact they all look like they on steroids
I did actually think they were a little buff, I mean I'm a 200+lbs bodybuilder and I thought f*ck me these football players' are ripped! hahaha.
NK.
AdidAs 24-08-2006, 01:39:AM Same thing was happened with peoples after Wc xbox 360 pics. Wake up guys it's all lies. There will be no such things in game as this pic shows. I can take time and find the pic which they drawed for wc game. Oh yeah after seeign it i wanted this baby so much, but demo said it all. Fifa is filthy liers and i done with them.
License is the only thing that saves their butts. Just wait for Konami to get thsoe licenses and Fifa screwed.
thisempty 24-08-2006, 02:52:AM No it can't, the xbox 360 is no better than a 7900 gtx graphics card and i've got 2 in an sli rig

yeah, thats why they make consoles, get it?
fifa07 on your pc is not going to look as good as on xbox360, and i really cant be bothered to tell you why, you should know
sa33ood 24-08-2006, 08:59:AM Guys, I my-self am going crazy already, I mean EA claims that the FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 engine is going to have the most realistic AI ever created in any videogame!!!!!!
You know what dose this mean? It is some real revolution, I mean even non-soccer players are going to buy this game just to try out its level of realism. They are talking about "Never seen before levels of realism"... that's really BIG talk.
I hope that EA doesnt disappoint us after all of this "Impossible" nice talk. But EA is a worldwide company and they are not going to claim stuff around without knowing that they can actually do it or not. I mean they are not just talking about some new features, no, they are talking about the most realistic game ever created in human kind!
I'm waiting for some videos... My brain is seriously going to explode. :gavin:
Is it possible to mod xbox 360 games???
If so I might bite the bullet and bye one, as pc's always lag behind in the graphics stakes!
I mean a top pc is miles better than any console, but they don't unleash it's potential at all, we have to suffer from others with crappy pc's needing to play the game, which in essence is what lowers the graphics they put in the game.
Sad but true! (:/)
OckHAM 24-08-2006, 09:13:AM Well, but if they achieved so many improvements in AI why do not port them to PC version? I can understand the problem of porting a graphical engine, but an AI system.. Anyway there are a bunch of hype of this sort before every Fifa release for what I remember.
PS. I doubt the images of this gallery are really in-game shots and not further rendered, better to check in-game images with gui etc. etc. during the match. I don't own an XBOX 360 anyway and I doubt it's easily eaditable anyway so I'm more intersted on the PC version while if the CEP can be ported to XBOX 360 too maybe I can be interested in adding a new console to my collection :)
yeah, thats why they make consoles, get it?
fifa07 on your pc is not going to look as good as on xbox360, and i really cant be bothered to tell you why, you should know
The PC is more powerfull, that's the only thing you need to know ;)
Just wait until Vista and DX10, my god you console girls are going to start crying when you see that!
I've seen an early promo at a convention early this year
sa33ood 24-08-2006, 10:32:AM PC's are always going to be more powerful than consoles, but in consoles the CPU and RAM and Graphics's powers are all combined and dedicated to give you even more power than you can imagine. In a PC, there will always be something running in the background, system wise or user wise.
DX10 is going to be so powerful but still, Direct-X's job is to make physics look realistic which requires more power from graphic cards and CPU's, in other words buying a PC to play games is going to coast you 5 times the price of a console, it is just how the business run, otherwise Microsoft wouldn't bother launching its Xbox 360, instead they would've just made custom made PC dedicated for gamers, which is not effective or even convenient for many due to the high cost.
OckHAM, Believe me man, that all footage that you've seen from FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 is 100% in-game action, of course while you are playing the more the camera zooms out the less the graphics will be, just the same as in FIFA 06 or 07 on other consoles, but other than that, and while throwing the ball or scoring a goal, the graphics are going to be "amazing", just like the pics, I mean exactly like the pics and even little bit better if you have an HD TV.
I think that EA launched their "lame" game FIFA: Road to World Cup 2006 just to test how the graphical part is capable to perform on those Xbox 360 and at the same time give a glimpse of the future for gamers around the world, so ignore that game title for good.
EA has always been great in talking more than doing, but they use to say stuff in a twisted way, like for example "New powerful engine", this sentence tells us that the engine is powerful but it dose not say how powerful it is, so the result is lame stuff just like in FIFA 05, 06, and probably 07, BUT in the case of FIFA 07 on Xbox 360, EA is claiming and using some really sharp and clear words, they are using "The most realistic game in the history of Videogames"!!!! Now this is something very BIG to talk about, because eventually if the product wasn't "the most realistic thing we've ever seen" then EA is doomed for good, and I don't think that they would like this to happen on an investment they are doing for 2 years... In my guess, I believe that EA has been receiving all the complaints about their football division and how they suck every year, so it's time for them to invest some money on the most popular game around the world, football (soccer) instead of investing their money on how Tiger Woods smiles and talks!! lol (no offence for the golfers out there).
So, guys, I can seriously and for the first time, smell some real deal from EA, it's like if they have awaken from the lame dreams they use to think is cool, and now are presenting something that will revolutionize the Videogaming industry, like Seriously revolutionize! :)
My talk is based on the pictures, the reviews, and what I know about the power of Xbox 360 that it can handle.
Another thing, I believe that EA didn't use the new engine in their PC or PS2 versions for a big reason: "Exclusive rights for Microsoft's Xbox 360"; Bill Gates wants some money now, so he buys the rights of the new FIFA 07 engine and PES 6 only for Xbox 360 for the next 12 months, in other words EA can't just use their new engine on FIFA 07 for PC and ignore the contract rules, right?
I wish that this game will be what I'm imagining, from one review until now, the word "players moved fluidly" has given me orgasms!! looool I'm waiting for a video right now.
LFCFAN 24-08-2006, 01:26:PM Calm down biggy, do not get your hopes to much up, because you are going to be disappointed. I have been a gaming fan since the the early 90ies, so i have heard my fair share of PR BS and just plain lies. Realism and AI are subjective terms, so of cause EA is going to say that they have the best AI in history, but i may just as well be a tiny ajustment we're talking about.
Don't get me wrong, i think the 360 version will kick ass in terms of graphics, and the new gameplay engine sounds exciting, but it will not be a revolution and i am sure the pictures we have seen are nowhere near the standard we will see in the final product.
As a rule of thumb, don't trust real game images that do not show actual gameplay. Look for health bars and other interface items in fps games, and some proof that there is an actual game goning on in sports games.
There are millions of examples to support this. Take a look at The Getaway on the PS2 for example. Boy was i excited about this one. The developers used similiar big words and promises about this game before it was released, but the final game was not quite the revolution it was made out to be.
Look at the supposed acutal "screenshots" added May 31, 2000 and then take a look the ones there the player is driving a car with the "behind view" at page one, which are from the game then it was released. And do tell the difference.
http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/adventure/getaway/screenindex.html?page=1
nickclubman 24-08-2006, 02:09:PM PS2 usually uses Rendered images, the PS2 isn't an XBOX 360. The 360 images of FIFA 07 are not snapped from in-game, no. But they are the graphics from the game. There's evidence to prove this, for example the 4th picture shows a player with his kit that is clearly a glitch in the 'graphics'. A rendered image that was fake wouldn't show a glitch in the graphics, nor a mistake. Although the images are touched up (blue affects, etc), the actual detail and quality of the graphics on players', stadiums, crowds, even the grass, ball and nets is what the 360 version will look like. Images of 2006 FIFA World Cup were released for 360 before in-game shots and the actual game is pretty much identical to those supposed "rendered" shots released early on.
Mark my words, FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 is going to make other football games look stupid. I said before 'wait for next-gen FIFA 07' and it looks like my dreams for FIFA came true!
Nick.

Jesus, some people just dont get it, out of stupidity. Or maybe cause they dont want to get it.
If 1.000.000.000 people buy an xbox360, everybody will have the same hardware, if 1.000.000.000 have a PC, not everybody has the same hardware. And top of the line PC's are like 10% of the global PC market.
So the majority of gamers will not be playing in PC's like that. So consoles are the way to go. Cause while YOUR PC is capable of pulling something equall or better than an xbox 360, FIFA07 will look like shlt on your PC. FIFA WC 2006 on YOUR PC looks like shlt compared to the xbox360 version and it will be the same for FIFA 07. Yet your PC costs 6 times more.
johan 24-08-2006, 03:07:PM Folks lets not get your hopes up that much.
This is EA and they are masters when it comes to marketing and promoting the game, even if they have to write and lie about all the things written in that article.
I did see a clip of gameplay footage for xbox 360 and just like in PES6 the graphics apear to be more chrispier and sharper but nothing has impressed me yet. I'm a Konami fan but even PES6 doesn't look anything special.
I can't wait to see how FIFA and WE/PES will look on PS3.
SlowSilver 24-08-2006, 03:22:PM It will look the same on the Xbox 360 as it does on the PS3.
And your sig is too big.
dipset 24-08-2006, 03:32:PM by overhyping this game the final result will look crap, nothin can beat the imagination soo dont get ur hopes up, keep it at a standarrd

Yes and thats what annoys the hell out of me, they should include an option for hi spec pc configs, but they just like giving preference to the consoles.
nickclubman 24-08-2006, 04:19:PM I can't wait to see how FIFA and WE/PES will look on PS3.
It will look exactly the same. This is the problem with Sony and their beloved PS3, truth be told it's not much more powerful even if noticebly more powerful than an Xbox 360.
You are NOT paying that much money for the PS3 because of its power. You ARE paying £400+ because the hardware is new and costs a lot to put inside the PS3 and therefore costs more for Sony to make and a higher price tag so Sony make a profit. And after all this the PS3 still has some disadvantages from the 360 and your eyes will not pick up on any differences, both consoles are next-gen, both are very powerful.
FIFA and PES on 360 is how it will look on the PS3 unless they add more to the game, which they could do for 360 if it was the PS3 version released first. If anything is added to the game it's not because the PS3 is amazing, it's because EA had the time.
Microsoft are the brains here, they buy the rights, they get the exclusivity, they've got more money and they've made a console that not only is pretty damn powerful, but uses hardware already available = less money to make the console and a lower price tag. The 360 is NOT a lower price than PS3 because it's less powerful, it IS a lower price because it costs less to make. Now THAT's the way to do it.
Most gamers are buying 360's this Christmas, PS3 is going to;
1) Be very low on stock, hard to buy
2) Be very expensive
3) Is not leaps and bounds more powerful than 360 and Microsoft are getting more games exclusive for 360 anyway...just wait.
4) Doesn't have Halo hahaha.
There ya go. And no one gives a damn if they release the 50th Metal Gear Solid game or the 20th Gran Turismo. Well, not gamers who want something new.
Rant over...
SlowSilver 24-08-2006, 04:39:PM Please not another Xbox 360 vs PS3 thread. :(
Cityhunter 24-08-2006, 04:50:PM There ya go. And no one gives a damn if they release the 50th Metal Gear Solid game or the 20th Gran Turismo. Well, not gamers who want something new.
Thats why we like a footy game every year with the same engine for 5 years and some minor improvemenst? (:/)
Anyway, I believe that FIFA will look the same on PS3, but I am not so sure about PES. XBOX is very small in Japan and that is still the main market of Konami. It would very stupid to push people to buy an xbox360, the japanese won't do it anyway (its cultural). In that view, I do believe that the PS3 version of PES will be the really first Next-gen game, build from scratch and not the "better graphics and animation" PS2 version (gameplay wise) for the xbox.
Keegan 24-08-2006, 05:09:PM What I found interesting, was the pic of Rooney in his "Nike Metatarsals" - as you know, those boots have a different style to each foot, and in the pic, he did... which means that the boot template is not mirrored this time around...
Hmmm... this is going to be interesting...
:ewan:
sa33ood 24-08-2006, 05:49:PM OK guys, let's calm down here... :)
As Nick said, the Xbox 360 and PS3 are going to be the same almost exactly 95% on everything, except for the "High cost" blue-ray disk used on PS3 which I don't find any better than the "low cost" HD-DVD on Xbox 360. Both can hold almost the same amount of information, but for some weird reason PS3 thinks that it is "cool" to have Blue-ray disks. there was no other explanation for that from Sony.
Anyways, too bad to disappoint you PS3 loyal fans, but both consoles will have the exact same power of gaming, and maybe Xbox 360 is better! of course each console will have some exclusive games but that doesnt mean that they are stronger than each other. (Fact)
Check out this professional comparison and come back to continue reading.

Anyways, so back to FIFA 07 on Xbox 360. Guys, for the love of god, please, I told you before, I'm a graphic editor, I use 3DS max and Maya like if I'm eating food, I'm so serious, not trying to brag about it but please believe me when I say that an Xbox 360 or even PS3 can "easily" handle the amount of graphics that you see in the pics, go ask the most professional 3D graphics engineer, he'll say the same, it is just a fact.
When I do a review on some system, I don't base my words on how cute or what some one said in a walk on the beach, I read many and many articles and compare it to what I have in hand, then give you what I think is 98% right. :) (I'm a geek and proud about it)
When EA says "Most advanced game in the videogame history" they don't mean little bit advanced than other FIFA releases, no, in that sentence they've included every single realistic game in the world, in other words, if you think that Metal Gear Solid is realistic, then FIFA 07 is going to be even more real, of course in a sports point of view. claiming such stuff is not easy to say, especially when its EA who is talking. OK they use to talk bull**** in past years, but as I told you before they use to use words to mislead people into thinking that their game is going to be cool, they used stuff like "powerful game", "advanced techniques"... now these words do not tell us that the game is good or real or not, they only tell that the game is not bad, maybe better than older releases, but in the FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 the case is completely different. seriously different.
I'm sure that PES and FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 are going to be 2 of the most advance games in the world, that's why -as Nick mentioned- Microsoft did a smart move by buying the rights for a whole year, and of course they didn't just go out of the bathroom and say "lets buy the rights of PES and FIFA 07", they surly did many studies and they've seen what the 2 developers are doing, and they think that those 2 games are going to be some amazing hits.
We don't know until now if PES is going to be better or FIFA 07, but from what I'm reading, I believe that for the first time FIFA 07 next gen is going to kick some ass. of course there will always be some loyal PES fans who will not try FIFA 07 for the sake of an inner deal, but I, as a FIFA fan, would not mined at all trying PES for comparison. :)

Oh so true, Microsoft aren't as big and powerful and pumped full of money just because they guessed or took a chance! They KNOW FIFA 07 next-gen and yes PES6 next-gen are BIG BIG BIG titles and the big $-cashin for most gamers, so why not buy the rights to really compete against Sony? That's how (if they do) Microsoft will beat Sony...they won't negotiate, oh no...they'll just buy exclusive rights to games, games the gamers want the most and these two big sports titles are simply a big knock on PS3. Of course it's only for 12 months, but in the gaming world that might as well be 100 years as EA will be onto FIFA 08 by then and Konami will be onto Winning eleven 12. That's how Microsoft made the deal work, 12 months looks ok on paper, but for gamers waiting and keeping up to date with the next releases, the PS3 fans will get frustrated and quite a few will instead buy a 360 out of pure frustration and impatience. It’s a VERY smart move………lots of sports fans out there guys!
Now I did my research just like Biggy. And I know these two games are seriously BIG mofo games. And Microsoft sure knows this! These games take in SO much money, it’s a 12 month gold-mine god damnit!! :mexican: <look at that Mexican guy, you know he likes it!
FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 is something special and what gamers and FIFA fans like Biggy and I have been waiting for. I know I've been talking about something new and EA have just said everything I wanted to hear for Next-Gen.
Looking forward to it and can't WAIT to get on Live :corn:

LFCFAN 25-08-2006, 04:19:PM Haha biggy, once you get a litte older and more used to the gaming industry, you will know that you should't trust everything you see and hear from developers.
Take a look a the pictures from the game "the getaway" that i linked to, the pre-release pictures are EXCATLY as brushed-up and polished as those released by EA.
Then you finally get the game in your hands, it will not look like this then you play it. Of course they are able to render graphics like that, that's nothing new, but you will not be able to play with these graphics. But should'nt you know that as a graphics designer?
Of course the graphics are going to be great, but EA is not opening a timeportal to 2015, even though they would like you to believe that they somehow have been able to obtain alien techonology and used it to make a unrealisticly good looking game.
Don't try to build up too much expectations, because you are eventually going to dissapoint everyone including yourself, then you only get a great game, and not the revolutionary and devine experience you were hoping for.
Trust me on this. I have experienced the hype and major dissapointment of games like Daikatana, Fable and Tiberian Sun. Check out "ingame screenshots" and promises about these games from before they were released.

Couldn't have put it better myself!
Just watched the new current gen vid, and i still think the ball moves funny, and some shots are way too fast!
Hmmmmmmmm I'll reserve judgement for the Demo, but i'll bet it will be :sb9:
valioso 25-08-2006, 04:36:PM the current gen still has the same old engine.
Gamespot seemed quite pleased with the game on their preview.
sa33ood 25-08-2006, 11:05:PM LFCFAN, I totally get you there, but man, each one of us has some kind of an image of what FIFA 07 will be, I can assure you that EA is not going to open a time portal, but what they are describing is not something impossible! What they are talking about is something that can be done in about 2 years of development, which is the case with EA, so I have to expect a huge deal of gaming goodness!
Now LFCFAN, When did EA EVER use the words "a level of intelligence never before seen in a videogame" in any website for them or any preview they did?? Never, I guess! :) They didn't say "in a sports videogame", no, they said "in a videogame" they clearly are sure of what they are saying!
Other guys, this thread is talking about "Next-Gen" FIFA 07 not current gen, keep the talk under the main subject.
nickclubman 26-08-2006, 01:17:PM Well EA usually say;
'This game is improved and much more responsive, improved shooting and AI'
And that lets the reader make of it what they will.
But for the first time, EA seem very confident and actually describe in detail what the new 2-years of work engine offers how it will play. If they're talking sh!t then it's only them who'll fall flat when nobody buys it after downloading the demo off the 360 live. I know I'm waiting for a demo of both CG and NG.
Anyway, I think EA are going to surprise us with next-gen. Current-gen is pretty much 'improved a lot, but seen it all before'. However, next-gen looks like something new and something really great!
Nick.
