View Full Version : Galatasaray or Fenerbahce (The biggest debate of Turkish Football)
CapaJr 16-09-2006, 10:42:PM I was discussing this with my dear fener fan, his nick name is Ottoman.
i know the uefa cup thread is not the right place to discuss such an issue, so i have finally decided to settle this, once and for all :rockman:
As a non-turkish football fan, which do you think is more succesfull team, you might say i have no idea, in that case, i am asking you which team do you think contributed to the future of our nation more, Galatasaray or Fenerbahce?
Please dont put ignorant comments like, who cares, if you really dont care, simply dont send any msgs.. and you do care, i thank you for your input. :)

CapaJr 16-09-2006, 11:05:PM okay, but at this thread , we are talking about football.
and i want to know what our non-turkish friends think about Gala and Fener, in terms of football.
please dont ruin this topic with fener propaganda, let the users decide.
football is all i care about, this is a SOCCER forum. ;)
and please dont be immature , i can post here 10 pages of individual records of Gala achievements, for example i can say that the 3 top scorers in our turkish league history , Metin Oktay, Hakan Sukur and Tanju all played for Gala.
so please, dont include bias information, i have written the overall achievements of both our teams, let others decided now ;)

Virgo 16-09-2006, 11:46:PM which club has more supporters in Turkey?
Ottoman 16-09-2006, 11:50:PM which club has more supporters in Turkey?
of course Fenerbahce. I have wroten about this in uefa cup thread...
But can u deny the fact that even during an unsuccesful period of time Fenerbahce will have 30 thousand fans (at least) in their stadium whereas it would be around 4-5 thousand for a Gala game? Is that your love for your team? And how come u have more fans in ur stadium when gala is more succesful?
Wouldnt that show us that gala fans support their teams only when they r succesful?
Tickets for Fenerbahce-Galatasaray and Fenerbahe-Besiktas games are always sold during some couple hours for very high prices (starting 30 ytl (20usd)) however it is possible to see empty stands for Galatasaray - Fenerbahce and Galatasaray- Besiktas games even though ur stadium has a capacity of only 19 thousands. Keep in mind that our stadium's capacity is 52 thousands..
CapaJr 16-09-2006, 11:51:PM which club has more supporters in Turkey?
Some statistics say its Fener, some say Gala, you cant really tell
i would think in Istanbul its even, and in anatolia, especially towards east of Turkey, its Gala dominance. other regions are probably even also.
but as i said, there is no absolute answer, its probably very close.
Also, My dear friend, Ottoman, i have sent you 362 differents points of different Gala accomplishments and all those important stuff we were the ~first~
2 big clubs.
Historically, maybe Galatasaray is better because of the UEFA Cup.
But currently I guess Fenerbahce is ahead because they have  ALEX  and two of the best south american defenders, Lugano and Edu Dracena.
night 17-09-2006, 12:23:AM to foreigeners, its all the same. i think when most people talk/think about the turkish league, fenerbahce and galatasaray pops into their head, but just the names of the clubs, not much else...
Yeah I have to agree with that.
pede54 17-09-2006, 12:35:AM Yes, to me the stature of the two clubs is quite equal. They are indeed the first two clubs I associate with Turkey although I am also aware of the other clubs.
You must be aware also, that to outsiders, although both clubs have achieved quite a lot, both sets of fans have also given us some negative memories too. In that regard, the reputations of both sets of fans are also very equal.
MaSsiVe 17-09-2006, 12:50:AM ahhh, the classic "my-johnson-is-bigger-than-yours" discussion...CARE!!1!eleven1!!

Umm, excuse me? English fans are by far the worst, and racist incidents in Spain are horrific. Yes, there are Turkish hooligans, but hooligans are a dime a dozen all around the world. And dont say "given US some.." we Turks dont tolerate and/or like the actions of a handful of idiots, just as you would say about English fans,,
so dont gimme dat "negative memories" crap when English fans are renown for their hooliganism. :kader:
But to answer the question,, INTERNATIONALLY I would objectively have to say Galatasaray. But Fener's current team is way stronger.
Nonelito 17-09-2006, 12:25:PM Galatasaray have the advantage...the main reason is HAGI!...They had him while Fener didn't...End of story.Legend!!! :rockman:
RuiCosta_10 17-09-2006, 12:41:PM Always thought as Galatasaray as the bigger/better club, it seems that Fener is taking it up now though...
Well Galatasaray got more attention here because of the romanian players that played for them but I have to say it's Fenerbahce.
Fallen 17-09-2006, 12:56:PM I think you can't say which of them is better. Both of the clubs have a great history. Fenerbahce has the advantage in the turkish football, but in european competitions Galatasaray has been more successful ... and this ties the situation...
How about Trabzonspor? :P

Punkt 17-09-2006, 02:56:PM i think Fenerbahçe could be stronger now but Galatasaray as more prestige because they won the uefa cup and had decent CL campaigns. a thing where Fenerbahçe always disapoint in the recent years.

Did I say ALL turkish fans are hooligans? No I did not so shut the fu<k up Mr Touchy.
The poster asked for our opinions on what the stature of the 2 clubs might be to outsiders. I gave my view and added an observation about "Certain" fans of both teams, and how they also contribute to an outsiders view of the clubs.

First of all, you must think you're big and bad calling me an idiot on some internet forum. Good job.
2ndly, wow, 2 events (2002 & 2006 world cups) in which english behavior was STILL questionable,, ooo because the english are "behaved domestically" that makes them angels? stop thinking so highly of the english. i can name numerous examples of how pathetic english fans are (domestically AND internationally), but I won't humour you. Anyway, thanx for trying.

Umm, you didn't say "certain" in your post genius:
both sets of fans have also given us some negative memories too. In that regard, the reputations of both sets of fans are also very equal.
Plus the original poster asked about the success of the TEAMS wise guy (read the first post and the title of the poll). Nobody cares what you think about the fans. so YOU get YOUR brain into gear before trying to sound clever.
Thanx.
Ottoman 17-09-2006, 06:41:PM I want to accentuate an important point that there are some "FANATIC" fans in Turkiye, not "HOLIGAN".
And you can never be the witness of racist events in Turkiye.
Of course you can notice the incident about 6alatasaray-Leeds United game. But that was an extreme event. The English fans had taken Turkish flag and wiped it their arses; then they had paid its compensation with their lifes...
That is just one negative event you can tell.
Pls dont slur the people unless you look yourselves...
Ny8La8 17-09-2006, 06:43:PM ^^^ yeah I meant to say FANATICs and not HOOLIGAN,,
Thanx for the correction. :)

JJSFC 17-09-2006, 09:15:PM As much as it pains me to say it, Galatasaray are the bigger team.
Ottoman 17-09-2006, 09:25:PM And i cant pass without saying something about this thread.
opening a stupid thread as " which team is more succesful in europe, fener or gala?" is just showing ur level my dear salatasaray friend..
we fener fans accept that gala is actually more succesfull in europe, there was no need for opening a thread lol
but relating it to 'team spirit' is another case of ignorance..
non-turkish users may not know how much tax does galatasaray hides out and not pays to the government.. buying a player for a million dollar but telling govt. that they have bought him for couple of thousands dollars just for not paying the tax is not called contribution to a nation.. not to mention what ur ex-ex-president faruk suren did.. ;)
hosting french during world war isnt also contributing to a nation.. ;)
have a great night my 'team spirit'ed dear gala fan friend
CapaJr 17-09-2006, 09:52:PM And i cant pass without saying something about this thread.

friend
you are really so stupid, i am not insulting you, its a fact.
you know why? the thread is NOT THE MOST SUCCESFUL TEAM IN EUROPE, ITS {Which one is the most successful Turkish team?}
and as you can see on the first page, thats why i have listed championships&tropies of both teams, it wasnt limited to europe, read carefully or use a dictionary.
all those other stuff you have said about Gala, helping the french during the world war, calling us traitors, are all reasonable. you know why? cause you are angry. i have asked people at this forum, what do they think about our teams, and in order to help them out i have given them amount of trophies they have gained so far. and so far, look at their decision. this makes you mad.
ha ha
:)
Ny8La8 17-09-2006, 11:43:PM all those other stuff you have said about Gala, helping the french during the world war, calling us traitors, are all reasonable.
If those things are true, then ---> :|
Aarfy Aardvark 17-09-2006, 11:51:PM Galatasaray - club of the elite, educated middle-class Europeans.
Fenerbahce - club of the working class Asians.
I'll go with Fener.
CapaJr 17-09-2006, 11:53:PM If those things are true, then ---> :|
what i tried to say was , he is probably mad about the outcome of this pole, that must be why he talks about these childish stuff..
i am not taking him seriously, he doesnt even read probably..
i mean where does it say ~which team is the best turkish team in europe~
he doesnt even know how to read
Aarfy Aardvark 18-09-2006, 12:02:AM How's Inamoto fitting in at Galatasaray?
I saw a bit of him against Bordeaux on Tuesday - and I'll pass comment so far, as to those who have seen him play more times.
Such a great player at Gamba.
CapaJr 18-09-2006, 01:38:AM How's Inamoto fitting in at Galatasaray?

Such a great player at Gamba.
today there was a derby between Gala-Besiktas(Gala won 1-0),
Inamoto played as well, i cant say he played well, hopefully he will adapt to our club as soon as possible because he is a talented player if you ask me.
Ottoman 18-09-2006, 01:40:AM ..
i am not taking him seriously, he doesnt even read probably..
Really i have been tired to argue with you.
Yesterday night, i saw your msg about Fenerbahçe in Uefa cup thread. You had slured Fenerbahçe to "being Fener's god money", "playing without team spirit", and craps etc..And i said that you as a 6ala Fan had also Fenerbahçe complex. Because Fenerbahçe-Randers FC match was not your business. Nobody asked you to compare Fenerbahçe and 6alatasaray in Uefa Cup Thread...
But i am accentuating again that you all(6s fans) have Fenerbahçe complex...
Then i said Fenerbahçe was bigger than 6alata. I didnt say "fenerbahçe is more successfull"
In Turkiye Fenerbahçe always gains much money from Turkish Super League's TV rights even if during its unsuccessful periods, Fenerbahçe always sell much offical products even if during its unsuccessful periods, Fenerbahçe always have at least 30 thousand fans every match even if during its unsuccessful periods...Plus, the most valuable Fenerbahçe fan is founder of Turkiye,ATATÜRK...
You cant dirink these in because you cant be like Fenerbahçe even though your sportive success...
However 6alata wins all(!!) of the trophies, they always have 5-10 thousands fans in their 19 thousands capacity stadium, their presidents begs for money on TV programs, they hide out tax in every transfer,....
and i dont want to mention what 6alata's founders did during world war. If anybody wants to know more info about 6alata's host to French during world war, he can look at Founder of Turkiye Atatürk's book named NUTUK.
Are all of these the bigness of 6alatasaray?? What a :sb9: ...
Maybe we(Fenerbahçe) are not succesfull in Europe, maybe 6alata got more attention from this stupid pool but Fenerbahçe always bigger than 6alata...
And 6ALATA FANS WILL ALWAYS HAVE FENERBAHCE COMPLEX...
CapaJr 18-09-2006, 06:45:PM dear ottoman:
i think its clear who has a complex. (look at the poll for example)
once again, you wrote and wrote and wrote, but at the end, it doesnt add up to anything meaningful
one more little detail i have to write about..
I would rather be french , then to be at the same side with people like you
Ottoman 18-09-2006, 11:57:PM ...
I would rather be french , then to be at the same side with people like you
Already you can never be at the same side with US(Turks)
Internazionale 19-09-2006, 12:04:AM none of the teams.
Turkey NT are above Galatasaray & Fenerbahce. :p
