I'm starting this thread to collect issues users are having with the PC version of FIFA 07, in order to gather them all together and ask EA about them as soon as they open support for it.

Any issue you're having with the game, feel free to reply. Once enough questions have been gathered, I'll send them to EA and post-back with their replies.

CURRENT ISSUES: 12

1. Why is RENDER_RATE_MODE set to 7 by default on cfg_pc_h.ini as well as the other configuration files, instead of 2, that makes framerate remain high and smooth?
2. Why does the framerate suddenly lower during in-game cutscenes and replays? And no, disabling DOF and other effects should NOT be a viable solution. I have an Athlon 64 3700+, 2GB of RAM and a GeForce 7600 GT, and I can't expect lower framerates in FIFA than those encountered in games such as Oblivion. Any patches on this issue expected?
3. Why is there no widescreen support? Players with widescreen LCD screens would like to fully enjoy their games on resolutions such as 1680x1050.
4. Why are the kits so low-res this year, again?
5. Are there plans to enable next-gen features (such as graphics, gameplay) on FIFA 08, as far as the PC version goes? More and more users are upgrading their computers as the requirements of newer games increase, and the current generation of graphics used, although being low-res feels already too much like WC 2002, is just too old. The excuse that PCs do not have enough processing power is merely a lie.
6. Why is there only the last goal reported in the current score pop-up? Either show all goals as done in Champions League, or remove that feature. You could also use a smaller font to give more space for info on those pop-ups.
7. Why are the player names on their kits so jagged?
8. Why does Direct-IP gaming provide a much worse experience in terms of lag in comparison to other EA games of the same season, such as NHL 07?
9. Why are the faces so little detailed in comparison with other games, such as NBA Live and NHL?
10. Why can't people play on Direct-IP using the "New" controller scheme?
11. Depending on what qualifications are teams added in the Rest Of World league? Many teams that managed to enter the latter stages of the UEFA Cup and Champions League are missing.
12. Seeing that so many users have problems with their controller being unsupported natively by FIFA, why don't you change the controller screen to include the option of manually setting each axis, thus making every controller compatible?

What's up with the cut-scene cinematics framerate slowdown, any fix to this? That would be my first question.

And why do all the players heads look like half-chewed caramels?

How about those morons over at EA learn how to use the right RENDER_RATE_MODE so it doesnt need to be changed by us. :rolleyes:

Why use the same faces for years now when the faces for Fifa WC06 were much better it's back to the 'old' Fifa 06 faces whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :boohoo:
Saha with long hair?????? No face for Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from Ajax who scored more than 50 goals last year and was in the European list with topscorers in the top 10 or even top 5?????
Next year Fifa will use NextGen graphics finally, hopefully things will change radically and the gameplay will keep improving.

Kits still look TER RIB LE even if kitmakers from here helped, the texture is yackkkkkkk thank god for the kitmakers on the forum and the 2gk quality :jap:

Why is there no widescreen option, only 800x600-1024x768 and 1280x1024. We demand 1680x1050 :)

Have you tried one of my High detail config files that has the Full-Scene effects disabled? My first post in my thread has all the different files for most users needs. I believe the Full-Scene effects such as Depth of Field and Post FX are what cause the main slowdown during cutscenes.

IP play sucks the bag. NHL07's IP play is amazing. No lag, great experience! But FIFA???? It's IP is crap.

How does NHL, with all it's fast paced-ness outshine FIF, a slower game, in the IP dept? Actually, graphically overall?

i would ask why ea go back on themselves when things they do or have done are better than fifa 07 for example 1.fifa 05 had ea sports live logo in the top right of the screen like sky sports do and it looked so cool 2.fifa03 had changing weather during a game eg the sun going in and out also why not put managers on the touchlines like they do with nba live so many more things i cant really be bothered in a nutshell fifa 07 stinks its slow jerky blurry and a total waste of a year :nape: :ewan:

Why doesn't EA include the Russian Premier League, it's got a greater impact on soccer nowadays compared to some other leagues they put in the game.

And why don't they improve their player faces, ruins the fun when they suddenly zoom in on Drogba, and the cutscenes are so pale, why?

ShotCaller, this topic is about support issues, so I'm not going to ask them about the Russian Premier League. There is a suggestions form you can fill out for the next FIFA and hope.

I'll add your issue about the faces.

Like a lot of people, the cutscenes are horror. I've tried al the patches and edits that are recommended but non of them seem to work. I know my GeForce 4 MX420 isn't top of the bill but FIFA 06 ran perfect on it and even with the 640x480 and everything low/out the cut scenes aren't proper. It makes taking free kicks or corners impossible! I've lost two matches because I couldnt react to a freekick rebound.

Game freezes and computer shuts down, or goes back to desktop. A problem for me, and few others too. Would be great to solve this annoying problem. The game freezes, the computer beeps a couple seconds, and it then shuts down.

Biggo, that doesn't sound like anything that could merely be caused by badly programmed software. I'd check your memory as well as your graphics card and CPU temps.

Games Crashes in Manager Mode?

I have the DVD version of the game on PC. I can play any friendly match I like & even play on-line. However, when I selet career mode / manager mode the game crashes back to my desktop without any error message or warning?

Has anyone else experienced a simliar problem & can suggest how I might fix it?

for me it's simply unbelievable... Have u guys noticed that in Direct Ip u can not play with the NEW controller setting ? so basically if u use that (that is my case because i'm used to play PES) u can not play online... That is NOT acceptable they should give everyone their money back...

how do i "validate my ea sports account" to play online? now they have that stuid thing with signing in from ur main menu...and it gives me the thing with validation. plz if u can help me, so do without asking those morons if i may be allowed to call them that from ea... :chew:
oh yeah, Q#2: why don't they include teams in rest of the world that have reached the semi finals and maybe even quarter finals in the uefa cup last season, or all the team from champions league groups, and they put the entire league for turkey, poland, norway, sweden, austria, switzerland :kader: such a waste of time and space... more than half of the teams in those league could't qualify to a european tournament... :chew:

There must be some problem with your copy, as I haven't seen other people getting errors like this. If you can provide me with at least one more person (post) that has the same problem, your problem gets on the list immediately.

Are you sure you have actually validated your account via the activation e-mail? If so, can you explain your problem more? Feels too generic to be put on the list.

I have, however, added your question about the teams of Rest of World. Want EA's answer on that beforehand? "Any suggestions you have, please use the Suggestion form and our development team will do its best to evaluate your ideas and take them into consideration for the next installment."


Also, changed issue #2 to inform EA that disabling effects in game is not a proper solution for people with high-end machines that can even run Oblivion decently, but not FIFA.

I'd like to know why there isn't much support for different controllers? I use the PS Analog controller adapter. The left analog works, but the right analog doesn't. I didn't bother me in 06 because the trick-stick was taken off. Now it's been added back, but I can't use it. Any support for that?

I'll add this to the issues xomikronx. They should have expanded the calibration features of the game, allowing us to select the axis by hand so that we could use any unsupported controller.
