View Full Version : Ronaldo : The End?
Santo el Cid 12-04-2000, 10:49:PM I just heard over the Bloomberg newswire that Ronaldo was stretchered off the pitch against Lazio after only 7 minutes! Apparently he crumbled to the ground, re-injuring his knee, while attempting abody feint. What do you think? He is a great talent - but has been crippled the past two years (ever since the World Cup Final) by injuries...can he return to form and live up to the expectations?
Woody_007 12-04-2000, 11:00:PM I wonder what he has done to deserve this? I did not get to see it live, but TLN showed a replay of the incident after the game .... knees are not supposed to bend like that .... and I wonder if he rushed his recovery ..... I hope he is alright.
diablo2000 13-04-2000, 02:06:AM done!
Vasco 13-04-2000, 02:55:AM he should of never came back this season and hopefully he will play again.
PolishPower 13-04-2000, 06:27:AM It could be end of his career, but then lets hope not...
Neutral 13-04-2000, 06:29:AM Poor millionaire....
(But seriously) I think it would be a great loss for football if Ronaldo never plays again, so here's hoping he can make a speedy recovery.

poor Ronaldo,he really doesn't deserve all this, hope he get back soon http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif((((((
Vasco 13-04-2000, 07:54:PM you know Ronaldo is such a good person and this got to happen to him but people like Edmundo that acts like a fag nothing ever happens. i heard that he got a good chance of coming back in about 8 months
Cairo 13-04-2000, 11:48:PM He was on his way back to reach the top again did you only saw those moves just before he falled.
he was one of the greatest strikers but i hope he will return soon and he will be better then every striker in the world
because he was the best player before playing WC98 in France so please let Ronaldo be the old one again.
Mrkovic 14-04-2000, 12:08:AM I think that it is bad if the game loses a player of that caliber. However, we should keep in mind that much of his play has been overrated. Not only are there better players than him in other countries, but even in Brazil (Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos and the old fox Romario).
Woody_007 14-04-2000, 02:54:AM Inter said today that he will be back in seven months. Considering he came back in five ..... he definitely rushed his recovery ..... poor judgenment on his part. Vasco ... you make a good point .... but even though Edmundo is a fag ... he doesnt deserve what Ronaldo is going through. I hope he returns to his former self, not only for football, but for himself.
Inter09 14-04-2000, 03:05:AM Man that sucks. They should wait at least 12 months so that he doesn't have any chance of reinjuring his knee. I don't think they rushed him, he was doing good. They didn't expect this. If he does not wait for a long time, he may not have good function in his knee. He should wait a LONG time. Meanwhile, Inter still has a great attack when Vieri comes back w/ him and Recoba up front. All they need is too strenghen in Midfield.
Paolo_Rossi 14-04-2000, 03:21:AM U should also say poor Vieri, cause he's heading the same way as Ronaldo and Vieri is Italy's offense,if he would ever retire ,this will hurt the natonal team thats for sure,he has been italy's top goalscorer in the past 2 years, lead Italy in the 98 world cup with 5 goals(2nd overall). What is strange is that both Vieri and Ronaldo both play with Inter. Is it me or every good player that plays for Inter gets his carrer ruined(example:Vieri,Ronaldo,Zamorano,Baggio).
Vasco 14-04-2000, 04:19:AM I agree eith Inter9 they should wait a year and i dont think he would ever be the same player as he was before.
PolishPower 14-04-2000, 05:23:AM I just wonder, did that doctor know what the heck he was doing? It seems kind of strange that he get the same injury 9 days after he is cleared to play. Maybe he didn't fix it right in the first place.
Also don't belittle what Ronaldo once was, he is the only player to win 2 consecutive World Player of the Year award. And let's face it, when he was great he was like nothing I saw before with my eyes.

Inter09 14-04-2000, 07:25:PM Vieri will be fine, he only has a foot injury that is keeping him out. That is less serious than tearing your ligaments in your knee.
Drinky UKSN 14-04-2000, 07:38:PM I've heard he's injured his cruciate ligament(s?), and if this is the case and its as bad as they think it is, this could even be the end of his career as we know it. Matthias Sammer was widely regarded as one of the best sweepers of a generation until he sustained a cruciate ligament. Two years on he's trying to restart his career in amateur football. Robbie Fowler is another high-profile player whose career was almost ended by it. If it is as bad as reported, I wouldn't hold your breath for a Ronaldo recovery...
Neo_9 14-04-2000, 07:44:PM And remembering that he is only 23 years old...
I have always loved Ronaldo's way of play and I do really hope that he gets back,
For Inter, Brasil and for the best of football...
Btw, I think they should have waited til the next season for his comeback so his knee would have been even stronger...
FORZA INTER!
Paolo_Rossi 14-04-2000, 11:20:PM Its all Inter's fault ,they put Ronaldo too early and now hes out for 8 months, they did the same thing with Vieri, hes now out for 1 month,Inter should let their players get 100 percent fully recovered not 80 or 70.
PolishPower 15-04-2000, 05:27:AM Drinky: I just read this Matthias Sammer has just been named the new coach of Borussia Dortmund! They are only 1 point above the relegation zone so there will be a lot of pressure on him.
Inter09 15-04-2000, 05:03:PM Matthias Sammer is not the new coach of Dortmund. Udo Lattek is. What should Inter do about attackers until Ronaldo comes back? They should KEEP Pirlo when he returns from loan and sell Ventola, he sucks. They need another good midfielder, they will probably get Baraja from Atletico Madrid and maybe Fiore from Udinese. Those guys would be good. They should keep Seedorf, Jugovic, Di Biagio, Moriero, Georgatos, and get rid of Cauet and Zanetti will leave anyway. Then maybe pick up another defender, don't know who yet. It would kick arse if they got Roberto Carlos back, but it won't happen.
Woody_007 15-04-2000, 07:28:PM Since when do they need a replacement?? Sell Zamorano and Baggio for a midfielder or two. That is all they need. W/ Mutu, Recoba, Pirlo and Vieri and when Ronaldo comes back, who is gonna play striker besides Vieri and Recoba?? Nah .... they do not need a replacement striker, just better luck and some midfielders. Keane might be possibility, but who knows what might happen. I wonder what Davids is doing and how much Juve would sell him for?
Inter09 16-04-2000, 10:34:PM What midfielders and defenders will/should they get?
