We (Soccer Gaming) are considering setting up a large FIFA 2002 multiplayer tournament at the end of this year in London, England. The tournament will be based around FIFA 2002 and played at a dedicated LAN tournament location in London. There will be large cash prizes up for grabs with entry open to anyone, from any country who can make it to London for the weekend. Registration will be free. You we need to pre-register for this event. At the current moment we are gathering information to see if there would be enough interest to stage this tournament. If you are interested in attending please send an email to matt@soccergaming.com

We would be looking at something like £10,000 for the winner as well as runners up prizes etc. It would be a proper "World Cup" style tournament with winner's progressing through the rounds.

Is it a big mistake to have it hosted in the London by the way? Well Matt if you were on about appearing at that tournament then you could have a problem because have a good guess which excellent FIFA gameplayer and arch nemesis of yours lives in the United Kingdom?

I'd better not tell news about this to the big cheese cos I'm certain he'd gatecrash the event and have a criminal record for GBH :p

Oh and who deleted my username (andy5)??? I didn't do all the swearing and mickeytaking.

Come to think of it - ten thousand quid...
Is this Monopoly money or counterfeit (sarcasm) :D :D :D :D????

And who would take notice when $G's popularity in the community could have gone down a huge load when my cousin's network starts in a month???

AAHAA!
Lots of money we are talking about here...but i have a few questions...

1.where are you gonna get so much money from....

2.why London?
3.can't we have an online tournament like this?

We have sponsors interested in providing prize money.

We chose London as we have a number of contacts in London who can help organise the tournament. If the initial tournament is a success we will have other's throughout Europe.
www.fifaclubs.com (http://www.fifaclubs.com) is providing online tournaments. They are very difficult to organise although I do know that http://scotland.fifa2001.com organised a very successful one recently.

Look out for the website which will be going live shortly.

If Fifa 2002 has a game engine which actually benefits the better player rather than the current farce that 'fools' the player into believing it. Fair enough, otherwise you'd be better off getting down to the lotteries comission and organising something more genuine.

Why not put the money to better use and pay certain developers to enhance the game to meet our never ending wants list, after all it's going to receive all of the inevitable release hype by EA themselves.

Just a thought...

zig :D

We'll have a website where you can register your interest in the event launching soon. Just waiting on the design now so sit tight guys.

Should be a real blast with the new screenshots and movies of FIFA 2002 we've been seeing this week.
