i also ran the udpate and haven't figured out what it did. Nothing seems different.

i ran the update and i cant connect to the server and i get an error..... to think i got the original version....*faints*

I bet it is just some online patch.
NHL 2001 was exactly the same, meaning there was a patch immediately upon release and just modified the online code to work better.
The game seems to run the same to me.
