I'm still not real good working with the FIFA 2001 program. I have downloaded a Portugal patch. Now I need to know where and how to install it. Thanks to all for their work in creating patches!

tell us whether it's in zip format or has it got an installer ....if its in zip format then unzip all files into C:/programfiles/fifa2001 folder and check the folder after unzipping that all the files are there
if it has installer then just specify the fia2001 folder (C:/programfiles/fifa2001)

and enjoy

Remember, when you install a patch directly into the game, it changes the game. If you don't want to use the patch, you have to re-install the original to get rid of the patch. Then if you want to use the patch (or another one) you install the patch and change the game again.

Go to www.fifa-mra.com (http://www.fifa-mra.com) and download SweetPatch. This is a Multi-roster Assistant which allows you to use various patches without changing the game. The MRA files hold the patch and install it in a temporary fashion, not actually overwriting the originals. I use it with FIFA99, allowing me to use the English Super Patch, Duncker's FIFA99% and the Euro2000 patch with only one installation of FIFA99.

It's great!!

Stevie-B and Dhruv,
Thanks for the help. Stevie...does the Fed editor work like the Sweetpatch? I've been looking at both. Oh, and by the way, the Millenium stadium rocks, both the real and the Z-9 version. England should forget Wembley and play their homies in the south! :D

FEd isn't quite like the MRA, because it overwrites the data in the data folder, much like installing a patch without using MRA. If you aren't happy with the changes you've made, you'll have to either (a) change them back, using FEd, or (b) reinstall the data files from the CD.

Bottom line - It's a great editing tool, but changes aren't easily recoverable. It complements, not competes, with the MRA.

Hope this helps.

Just to let you know, the Millenium Stadium was not built for soccer, it's a Rugby Football stadium, and if England played their home games there, they would always be playing away, as this stadium is in Cardiff, the capital city of Wales. It would be like the USA National Team playing in Mexico City or Ottawa!

Geography lesson over, of course it's an excellent stadium, it's even got a sliding roof.

Now that the original Wembley has been closed and likely to be demolished, and Phoney Tony (Blair) is not forthcoming with any government money, the new National Stadium will probably be built on the outskirts of Birmingham.

Jonathan,
Thanks for the great reply on the MRA-FEd issue. The best tip yet. Thanks to all for your help. Stevie, sorry about the mix up on the Millennium stadium I thought since they had the FA Cup finals and all the Nationwide finals there, that that stadium was under consideration for the English home as well as Birmingham. I have visited Great Britain only once, in 1977, and never went to Wales. Went up from London, through Birmingham to Scotland. Beautiful country. I understand Wales is even more beautiful. Rock on...and thanks again for your help! And should it really cost more than $200 million U.S. to build a stadium? Even some of these modern monstrosities here in the states pale in comparison! Ain't beauracracy a beautiful thing! Rock on!

And Stevie,
by the way...if the U.S team played in Ottawa or Mexico City, they may draw better! :D

England playing at the Milennium Stadium was the second part of a deal made between the English FA and the Welsh RFU. When Cardiff Arms Park was demolished to build the new stadium, Wales played their home matches in the 5 Nations Championship at Wembley. The new stadium was a bit of a rush, with people still working on it on the morning of the official opening of the Rugby World Cup, but they got it right.

Unlike the new Wimbledon Centre Court. That doesn't have a fancy roof, so rain stops play. I think it was a ploy by Cliff Richard to boost flagging album sales! :D :D
