... and this is why:

1) EA has some serious competition
2) PC Gamers [will] have a wide selection of soccer games to choose from:
a) UEFA Challenge
b) FA Premier League Stars 2002
c) FIFA 2002 RTWC
d) UEFA Champions League 00/01
e) Euro Super League

Keep in mind 2 of those games are from EA (b, c), and EA distributes their product worldwide, and will probably support more platforms which is why they continue to dominate the market.

U think it is good that EA have two coming out? Unless they upgrade the gameplay of F2k2 above F2k1 I don't think fans will enjoy it! I thought UEFA Challenge was not gonna be released? Fancy paying EA big bux for something that sux!! :o

I totally agree with you SCTW.

However, I have just learnt that EA have scrapped the FAPLS (Stars) series to concentrate all of their efforts in FIFA 2002. The same guys who had a huge say on how FAPLS was built are now working on FIFA 2002.

We'll have more details on this at Soccer Gaming shortly.

The ball physics in FAPLS is the greatest apart from virtual striker 2 arcade series. If the maker of FAPLS joined the making of Fifa2k2. That is good news.

Yeah, that does cast a new picture on the upcoming F2k2 game. But I keep thinking EA are gonna shortchange us somewhere....

You have forgotten Anstoss Action (OK, only in Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Here it is very successful and because of its innovations also a concurence for EA. And Anstoss Action 2 will have a better gameplay than every FIFA of the world! :)

I think that EA have finally realised that they aren't in control of the market as they were 2 years ago or so.
They see that UEFA Challenge is a big contender and also realise that more and more people complain about their Fifa series.
That can only be a good thing and let's all hope that Fifa2002 will be an excellent football game!

a cross between Stars and FIFA with improvments would be a good game

e.g. FIFA: high passes almost never work.
Stars: High passes almost always work.

FIFA: Long range goals dont happen 99% of the time.
Stars: Long range goals (half-way line) happen from 40-60% of shots.

FIFA: selected player doesnt always do what you tell them to.
Stars: you cant select players (how stupid is that?)

Also the whole stars (money) thing should be in FIFA with a transfer list and other clubs bidding for players (but not only when you do like in Stars) - basically EA should get all the good bits from FIFA, Stars and FM (manager) and put them all together and make one great game.

yeh...i guess EA's gotta buck up on FIFA series.....or they might even lose the household label to other companies....

perhaps in the future will be
Konami: FIFA 2005

and not
EA Sports: FIFA 2005

they are juz concentrating too much on America Sports games...like NBA n NHL. while on FIFA it's just crap after crap. what a pity.;(

^yj^: I doubt they will lose the label... but lose the exclusivity of it. Besides, I doubt that FIFA gives a damn about FIFA games, anyway... It's a top seller, I believe it will always be, and so FIFA is happy :(
