Hi i am having problems with the game speeds. i am using the game on a laptop and i played the game without the cable and it was really really slow then when i plugged it into the mains (so that it started charging the laptop while playing) it was ok then when i went to play a match it was super super fast. i then waited until it was charged and then played with the cable when it was charged and the menu's were slow but the game was normal. it is really starting to annoy me, i have got in contact with EA and they said they havn't really tested it on laptops well only a little bit but they advised my make sure my drivers are up to date but it is almost a brand new laptop with 256mb video card and 1028 ram so surely it should be fine. I think that the power is too much and it is making the game go too quick but the other games that i have are fine so i don't know,

anyone got any suggestions?
will be very greatful if someone could help

thanks, magpiemaster

Most modern laptops have features that attempt to increase battery life and one of the ways they do this is by speeding up or slowing down the CPU according to the amount of work being done and whether or not the A/C power is connected. Intel's version of this is called SpeedStep and AMD have an equivalent (whose name escapes me). I believe that this problem occurred with FIFA 06 and that a patch to the AMD software was necessary. However, in your case it may just be that you installed the game whilst on battery power (a really bad idea in general terms) and that the game thinks your PC is slower than it is once it is plugged into the power.

If you did install whilst on battery then I would recommend reinstalling the game whilst on A/C power. Either way, try switching off SpeedStep (or AMD's equivalent) and see if that resolves the issue.
