Hey all

I know you have a tough time moderating this forum, what with the amount of posts, plus other commitments, but I think that we need some sort of system to stop all this bickering at what-have-you.
You'd have to be blind not to notice the amount of racism and fighting going on, leading to threads closed, members deleted, etc.
What I'm suggesting is that we have a "yellow card" system, where you have yellow cards given to members inciting fights, being racist/sexist/homophobic, etc. If 5 "yellow cards" is accumulated, then a suspension would be placed, where the member could not put messages up for a period of time. If a certain number of suspensions are attained, then that member would be kicked off permanently.
Now, I propose that these "yellow cards" may be given out by other members, by alerting a moderator so that they can enforce it. That way, you have less work to do, right?
I'm not saying this is fool proof, but if you can see where I'm getting at, in that fellow members help out with the moderating, though the moderators would still be the "powers that be".
This has come after a certain member, without any provocation, made a remark about "myopic Turks", which sparked off yet another racism fight.
Talking to Rob Lawson on ICQ, we both agreed that we were tired of all these fights, and all we wanted was one thing - to talk about football in peace.

Agreed man, i am sick off this man. the moderators really need to do something about this cause I really can't concentrate on fifa topics when I see insults about my culture. this needs to be stopped. and really bothers me, and how can't i call people racist who is insulting my culture, is there other word for it that i don't know?

My life isn't focused about checking every subject in the Forum. I can only see the headlines, or if it is a topic that interests me I will dig in farther and read what is written. We don't check every post.

You are correct, there is racism in this forum. But as Joe says, we are not full time form moderators and only do it in our spare time. If we see a racist post we will certainly delete it. But we simply do not have the time to delete them all.

However, we are more than willing to find out from you which posts include racist comments. If you see a racist post, please send an email to one of the Forum moderators at the top of the main FIFA 2001 Forum page and we'll look into it immediately. Remember to send the URL of the post.

I realise how much you guys have to do, what with updating the site, checking out news along with the forums, and all this must be in your spare time. By no means is this a criticism of your work. But I feel if we have some sort of system in place, that way you have less work to do, and we can do what we came here for - to talk about FIFA and football.

Seriously, I wouldn't care. Just think, some "wancker" from half way across the world or on the other side of the continent is insulting you. Whopdeedoo. I doubt he has a life anyway. But, yes it should be stopped anyway. If someone says "USA Sucks". Good for them, showing what they think. At least in American, they have the freedom to do that to a certain extend. Yes, I agree it has been abused here a lot....

when i joined this forum about 3 months ago it was great for a week, then some people started to disrespect other cultures and since then i can't enjoy it. if u ask me why am i not leaving this forum, well i tryed but no way i won't leave this forum until this is been settled.

First off, is this coming from the same "Canada" something whom supports Joey Jones on everything, yet fails to hear the whole story. This is not be meant to be mean in anyway. This racism here, I know it is wrong so it must be punished. I wouldn't care if someone called me a bunch of - whatevers. You might, so it will be dealt with when we find it and see it, but if it was me I wouldn't care. I hear it all the time on the news. People burning our flag, hating us. You do feel it everyone once in awhile, because you wonder "Why are they burning our flags?...because we try to help?" or just because we a large country with some stupid politicians, and so they want to kill us?

I think the comments Joe has made in this topic show that his position as a moderator of this forum surely must come under question. He's also mistaken CANADIAN_10 for Rob Canada as well...

I understand that the moderators can not be watching this forum at all times, but to say that you couldn't give a damn about what happens here really shows that you're not able being a moderator. Also I understand why people are getting angry, because an attitude towards moderating this forum does stink. Yes, I know, I've been a bit funny and my m8 JJ has threatened Mad Max for "backstabbing him" - but he does deserve it for doing things on the sneak!

As for these people supporting others - well, people are entitled to their own opinion. Both myself and JJ didn't convert people to be "haters of Soccer Gaming" - they probably were already, and they only come to this forum because it's the only forum where people talk.

My final two cents on this subject - the forum would be better if all parties, including the moderators all adhered to the rules. Then there will be no more complaints about racism...

Now Joe, don't think I am having a go at you, but you've got to realise that taking the attitude of "I don't care" does not go well with others who visit this forum. They'll only start being nasty back - OK???

Well, it is my personal opinion. I did, however, tell you that this must be stopped. I did not say "No, Racism is OK, so I don't care". I said, if it were me, "I wouldn't care". That's how it is. And as for people's right for an opinion like you said....There you go. I have a right of my opinion and you shouldn't critize me for it. "RACISM IS BAD", "Racism against ME online, I could care less."

So be it. I have no problem with JJ and AJ. They can do what they want, it may not be the best - in my opinion - but it's their opinoin and they can have it.

Also usernames can be removed from this forum, but there is no ideal deterrant. People would only re-register with a different member name/e-mail address/IP address and still cause the trouble... There is no system that would work here - the only warnings could be messages posted by moderators to certain people...
But as we know, many people do not take notice of the mods...
