Which of ALL the Championship Manager / Football Manager games are best ?? :ewan:

I had the most fun with CM 03/04, but I think that's mostly because it was my first in the series.

03/04 for me as well, but 01/02 is very close to it.

It'll b a rainy day in hell when CM bests the FM franchise i reckon, given their progression and platform which they have to build on.

Any FIFA variant is simply laughable and always has been...both management and simulation these days... :nape:

I consider FM2007 the best game

most memorable would be CM01/02

Bloody tough, but i'll have to go with CM01/02.

Obviously FM07 is the best (perse), but its also the newest and therefore should be the best.

Second would have to be CM97/98, because its what got me into CM and it was light years ahead of it's rivals. Then FM07, followed closely by the supremely good CM03/04, which was very much like CM4 but minus the many bugs :D

CM 01/02 was the daddy imo.

I personally lost everything I ever owned due to that game.

I don't think I'll ever reach the giddy heights of taking Grimsby Town to the Champions league 2016 title ever again or winning everything with PSV including a 100% season (no points dropped at all.)

I think CM0102 just captured the time the best. I know so many more people who played that over any other version. It had all the detail you wanted, but STILL seems to have more playability than later versions.

Maybe it is because it was a precurser to CM4, riddled with bugs. It's also much faster than any other later incarnations.

AND it had 'the' CM legends on it. Gomez, Tsigalko, Nikiforenko, To Madeira, the list goes on.

Its amazing how many they got wrong when you think about it (Cherno Samba being the most obvious.) But Rosicky and Kallstrom certainly lived up to the hype.

i think its lot more simple than that. It had the text engine. The best text eng we had seen till then. since Cm4 the text engine isnt so detailed, thus not so exciting. The 2d engine will never be as exciting coz with text you are left there to just imagine the whole thing based on what you read.

Yeah good point Alex, i think you're right that CM0102 had the most absorbing and generally well-paced match engine so far.

FM07 i often find boggy, as i did with 06 and 05 before it.

Still, the 0102 engine was hilariously predictible.

wouldnt say predictable... just not realistic in many ways. Strikers scoring too many goals too many goals avg in every game... the FM series are more realistic, just not as exciting. The text engine in cm01 could make sh*t on your pants durring high pressure matches, and still can sometimes, even this less detailed version we get in fm games today.

CM 03-04 for me. Was my first game of the series :)

CM 01/02, for me, then 03/04, 97/98 and FM07. FM07 is imho much better than the other FMs

first cm 3 was best ever.. i also liked fm 2007 but not player cm 2007 yet.. anyone played both ?
