Not Happy? I was about to commit a suicide......The roster was ok, and the first game was great (8:1 we beat France) but after Yashin joined the squad...it all fell apart. Though I still consider Russians the best in hockey, just like Canadians consider themselves better in hocket, and Americans, Finnish, Czech, Swedish....
Europeans have their own, a better style of hockey. Like in February '98 in USA-Belarus game, Belarussians (almost the whole team is from russian championship) were coming "clean" throught he blue line to american zone, bu Americans dumped the puck just after their crossed the half-rink line.


Also, which european hockey championship do you consider the best? I consider Russian, because about a year or two ago, in the final of Euro League (like Champions' league) played Dinamo Moscow and Metallurg Magnitogorsk.

TPS is a great team also, but including a few other finnish teams, the rest of the league is worse than the rest of russian league (like russian sh!tty teams are better than Finnish sh!tty teams http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif)
But still, Czech have good clubs, Finnish, Russian, Swedish...Swiss too...
please do not consider me overpatriotic because I think that Russian hockey is better... But USSR did win more world cups than Canada and Czech Republic, right?

also, who is the coach of TPS Turku now? Is it Yurzinov still? (he coached them in '97, I think, when TPS beat Lada Togliati in the EuroLeague final)..

C'mon there is NO disputing to say the finnish league is the second best ice-hockey league in the world.. The Hockey News from Canada even said so. We also have more stars playing here and more international players becaue russians teams don't have money to buy them... Russia was terrible in hockey last year after that performance I'd watch what I say ! =)
BTW Finland is the LEAST corrupt country in the WORLD as Russia is the 6th MOST corrupt and Finland is the fifth richest country in the world per capita... these are official figures.. I just read them in the papers today the figures were released yesterday night...

Finnish and Swedish, And Swiss and German leagues ARE richer than Russian. But that does not mean russians are poor! And it is a fact -- if a russian GOOD player like Alex Korolyuk, or Vadim Yepachintsev leave NHL....they go to Russian league. Don't know why, but Korky (plays in SJ Sharks -- my home Am. team) will play in Russia next season.

And there were more players chosen from Russia in last NHL draft than any of European country. They all played in Russia, and many of them do not leave Russia for the next few years.

Finland just des not have too many GREAT players like Koivu, Numminen, Selanne, Laukkanen.....


Also, many good players from Ukraine, Estonia, Lithuania, Kazakhstan, Belarus (all not bad nat. teams) play in Russia. I agree -- in financial part, Russia is not like Sweden or Finland, but results show that Russian league is strong, and IS certainly, if not THE best, then ONE OF TWO of the best -- you just say that your league is good, and you touch fifnancial part, but Russian clubs have an enourmous success in European cups -- they play MORE successfully than any other European hockey clubs for sure.


In St. Petersburgh in April-May....Well, we sucked -- there were no teamwork. But that can happen to anyone, right? Russia was two times in the final of Junior World Cup in past two years, and the future for Rssian hockey looks bright -- about 50 Russian hockey players were chosen in NHL draft.

You say Finnish league is better, I say Russian League is better.


Tikhonov is not the best coach -- in 1980's he was the manager of CSKA Moscow, and every hockey player, who served in the army played for CSKA. And Tikhonov, in 1980's could take ANY player from Soviet hockey championship and put him in CSKA Moscow. ANY, and I mean ANY manager from ANY country would have the same success like Tihkonov did.


About Russians in Finland and other countries: There was a coach named Yurzinov, he coached TPS Turku. Does he coach them now?


You see, best russian hockey players play in NHL (obviously). But many others, who negotiate contracts with NHL clubs (like Korolyuk) play in Russia, rather than Germany, Finland, Sweden...

And also, there are youngsters who were selected in NHL draft, but still playing in Russia(Saprykin, Datsyuk, Bryzgalov, those 2 russians who were selected by Chicago Blackhawks 10th and 11th overall, Volchenkov)..... Maybe because of them (there were more russians selected in NHL draft than anyone else) russian league is good with finances not like in other countries...


Also, if to aska an american.... he would say that Swedish league is the ebst in Europe, some of them say Swedish, Czech and Russian.... Yesterday I asked a few fans, and I HAD TO CONVINCE them that Finnish league should be in top 4..... Americans/Canadiens usually are not interested in European Hockey, you know..

No, I do not think that Israel is any better than Russia in Europe. Russia won against France in Saint-Denis in June 1998, but you do not see me bragging that Russia is the best..

Actually, there are Berkovic and Revivo. Berkovic played in Celtic, Revivo transfered from Celta Vigo to some Turkish club..
Also, there are a couple of players in Aston Villa and some in Spain..

I think that russia and finland would beat israel but if they played each other I dunno cause russia have some good players but finland with Hyypia and litmanen could beat anybody.
