What it currently contains as a gameplay enhancement idea:

-Universal -5% Speed (For more realistic humanised settings)
-Universal -9% Accelaration (For more realistic player speed bursts)

(Excluding goalkeepers)

DEFENDERS

-Defence +6% (It has been very low for many players and attackers had a lot of advantage)
-Teamwork +20% (Defense is a much more team based procedure than many may think and it has been increased for more effective AI covering)
-Heading +15% (Was previously very much lower than the attackers and too low even for top class players. A defender must be able to clear the ball with his strong posure and positioning.)
-Balance +5% (Defenders are generally strong men who must have the ability to hold the attackers, when they lack of speed and flair, at least with their tight positioning and physical superiority)

MIDFIELDERS

-Teamwork +8% (Was high but not high enough for many players that must have this role in this important position of the terrain, the most vital attribute of a midfielder in my opinion)
-Long Pass Accuracy +5% (Able to give long passes with more success than give immediatelly to the opponent)
-FK accuracy +5% (Their technical skill must make them better in this sector when they hit fouls to goal or only to pass)

ATTACKERS

-Not modified

GOALKEEPERS

-Teamwork +25% (Was too low and Goalkeepers in reality are those who organise their defense in many occasions. Hopefully this will make them less random in their effectiveness)
-Long Pass Accuracy +25% (Was criminally low and this was the reason that made long volleys to have so less success and almost instantly the ball to go to the attacker. This annoying factor made volleys to be severely disregarded by human players and to prefer short pass. That does not mean the ball will go to the friendly player but at least it will not go straight to the opposition)
-They have now less relative speed/accelaration inferiority from non-GK players so they stop behaving like slow fools.

Overall the universal decrease of speed and accelaration will tempo the match to more realistic levels and also long balls to gain a character since players will not travel faster than the ball so make it more oftenly a competetive challenge to win it. The tackling slide distances will become more realistic and only to be used by a veteran player correctly. Defense will get more effective and tighter for no handball like uber scores. GKs should be more effective.

This is my first post here and the reason I registered is to get some information from everybody who can help.
I like to mod games. I usually do not upload all of them but when I started to do it for Rome:Total War game for PC it gained so much appreciation that I believe I can help also for this game.

My mod for RTW is named DarthMod and has thousands of fans all over the world. But that is not the point here.

I played PES6 and I found it very dissapointing in some gameplay aspects such as:

-tackling is too strong and has much more efficiency than realism allows so it ruins the gameplay if someone overuses it. A skilled human player can ruin your game if he falls all the time to the ground to tackle and the game looks rudicilous.
-AI defence is silly and neglects simple mind thinking to be near to the player that is to receive a pass.
-free kick passes are too inaccurate.
-Long ball is greatly disfavoured in mid-terrain.

These are some that I could think I would be able to try and fix but I need information which are the tools I could use.

AFSexplorer is able to find me the files but after it extracts them I do not know which are responsible to tweak the necessary stats file for the gameplay or how do I open .ovl files.

Generally if someone knows how do I start, will save me valuable time than trying to re-invent the wheel.

I expressed problems that do exist in this version in my first post.

For your info I play this game from PES3 in PS2 and I am totally addicted to it when we play tournamnets with my friends.
This is where the problems were found.

It does not need too many things whatsoever but only a little tweak in the tackling and for compensation more effective the non-tackling defence. The others should be checked.

I agree there are things that could be worked on. As far as the dumb AI, I find that if you increase the game difficulty, it kind of takes care of the AI problem. Like when you do through balls, there is always a defender on your ass

Also you need to consider the different styles of soccer

Goalkeepers are goods and you should learn how use them manually...
The gameplay is good and you must learn how play it: differently style than in PES5...
The speed is good if your pc and your GPU's filters are correctly configurated...
So if you want to change something, make it, but I dont think the game need it...

The teams on it are vitually the same as every other OF. Full kits, squads, bundesliga. What more exactly are you looking for?

As for the game play not being any different???, you must be joking? The passing, shooting, dribbling, pace of the game, defence AI and keepers are all different and by far improved.

Take a look at the thread, out of a number of posts that is in the hundreds, not one says that this OF doesn't make the game play better and totally different and most are amazed that this can be done with stat changes alone.

Generally I would like to say that Konami is from the few game developers that created a game which was oriented to gameplay mostly. And this is the most powerful thing about this game.
You can play it for months, years and still there may be some tricks and strategies that you have not discovered.

In my mod for Rome Total War I had to balance a game which was very amateur comparing to PES6 in terms of gameplay and totally change it (1,7 GB mod files).

Here the job will be much more different.
I will try to "polish" a very delicate and wonderful game in some parameters which I personally believe they will enhance it than degrade it.
If in my tests I see I have made it worse...I will not release for sure.
But hopefully if everything goes well, it will be a nice addition for someone to try it in this free world.
And also, as I can understand from the file structures, I will have little freedom to change a lot of things.
I will start today and hopefully in the coming days will return with a beta for you to test.
Only for PS2. I do not play this game in the pc.
Also I only play with human veteran players so with them I beta test all the "incosistencies" of gameplay better. With AI opponent the game is having a "barrier" from which beyond you cannot develop or evolve more as a player.

Everything you said makes perfect sense (esp. the part I made bold). The game would be amazing if you pulled that off.

PS - PES6 is the most enjoyable PES/WE game so far, however, something "Fifa-like" has been happening lately that is killing the experience for me. I'm scoring the exact same goal every match, with every team.

I run on one of the wings, then before the end, I abruptly turn 180 degrees (the opposite direction), then I make a 90 degree turn towards the goal, I keep running with the defenders running on my side, then I place a R2 shot at the far corner.

I hope, after your mod, the defense is much more capable of preventing me from doing that in every match.

I am very glad because a skilled and clever player is exactly doing what you do and there is no defense in it. The human opponent knows what you will do and a mystic power prevents him to defend you.
This has been addressed effectively now and this is what made me so frustrated ....the all too easy...too same goals to score.
Now in order to break the defense you must use strategy. The ball will stay longer in the midfield who are now more skilled (the midfielders) to create the game for you.....I will upload shortly and will eagerly await your opinions.

Is this a patch that actually alters the gameplay, or does it simply change the players' stats? If it's the latter: any PC player can tweak this by downloading PESFan Editor and applying the suggested changes in Stat Adjust. Right?

By the way, I do agree that defense really needs some work in this game. Defending in PES6 is frustrating like never before. In my experience it forces you to use this one strategy, which I don't like. So it's good that someone is taking the effort to correct this badly balanced aspect of gameplay.

By adjusting and balancing correctly the game stats, we have a new gameplay for PES6.
I believe in open source theme so I speak of my adjustments so anybody can test himself his own findings.


PC version is uploaded! Check first page.

Also another feature for all of you to try is to disable the attack/defence semi auto preset and put it to manual.

This is considered to be a gameplay bug as it creates many times a "catch up" coin up effect.

You will notice that if it is in semi-auto or auto, if a player gains a big difference in goal, the AI is set by auto to be more passive and the loser to be more aggressive. This results to quick tie ups which happen not by the human player's desire because he wishes to attack fully but the Ai picks defense mentality.

At least you can put it auto-attack or auto-defence once you know what will be your strategy. Not when AI picks it wrongly for you.

This is a tip to eradicate the "catch up handicap" effect of PES6.

I know that at least for me and my buddies, the gameplay is much improved.

I've just played 3 quick games (arsenal v barca, bilbao v real, roma v inter) and it seems to be quite good. 2 concerns though

1. Wrong names for teams
2. Lack of a german league

-They have now less relative speed/accelaration inferiority from non-GK players so they stop behaving like slow fools.

Overall the universal decrease of speed and accelaration will tempo the match to more realistic levels and also long balls to gain a character since players will not travel faster than the ball so make it more oftenly a competetive challenge to win it. The tackling slide distances will become more realistic and only to be used by a veteran player correctly. Defense will get more effective and tighter for no handball like uber scores. GKs should be more effective.

PS.Note that the changes this mod does is to affect gameplay and not alter the copyrighted names of teams. Also some new transfers have been adjusted.

For a game like PES6...it is inexcusable.

In large forums like this there will always be people who have different opinion from yours. You will just have to ignore them if you can't stand them.

Will this gameplay mod have any effect on our current game? as in, will is screw up my kitserver since i have it up to date with balls, faces, hairs, boots, etc.? I would really like to try this out, but not if it messes up my current game.:boohoo:

The onli part that really needs work is rating of defenders and goal keepers apart from that the gameplay is good enough. I'm sure Konami will take all the gameplay issues into account. BUt these stats are reduced on a generalised fashion. It deosnt really reflect real life player abilities. For example not all defenders are great headers of the ball.

is there a way to keep my ML game and use this mod? Everytime I add all my stuff from my old game to this new mod, the ML save gets corrupted (:/)

I dowloaded both demos and was disgusted with both. I then had a change of heart and went out and bought the PC version of FIFA 07. Out of the box, not a good game. With a gameplay mod and the Super League patch (CEP 3.1) it's a different game and I love it. It fits my style of play.

I was so disgusted with the defensive AI of my CPU teammates in the PES6 demo that I swear I would never buy this game. I literally had three defenders around a striker at the top of the box. As he moved forward they ran away from him like he had the plague. But, if there is a gameplay mod for it I would pick it up in a heartbeat. Winning Eleven 7,8, and 9 we're light years better than FIFA from a gameplay standpoint but FIFA has made some pretty big strides this year. The strategic and statistical depth is not in FIFA like it is PES.

pes 6 sux. it's a fact. you see Konami is planning the new pes for ps3 years now and the pes5 and pes6 were only 2 "patches" of pes4. we can say something like pes4.2. lets hope next year they wont be so bastards to release a game incomplete just for the money...

Get kitserver, then install all HD kits for all teams. TOTALLY changes the look of the game.

Then, get all stadiums for EPL and Spanish Leagues, also installed on kitserver.

Ever since I've done that, it's been a totally different game. I love everything about it.

By the way, everything you hated about the demo, you'll find the opposite in the full game. Slow players, sluggish responses, boring matches, dull pitches... etc. All reversed.

Although I disagree with you, and think that PES6 (patched with kitserver) is the best, most enjoyable PES/WE game ever, I hope you are right.

I hope that the PS3 game will have totally different player animations, movements, commentary...etc. BUT, chances are IT WON'T. There will be a huge difference of course, but not nearly as huge as you and I hope to find.
