So, having not really played anything in the CM/FM series since 01/02, thought it was about time to get back into it. Just wondering what good, cheap, young players people would reccomend. Players like nikkiforenko etc in 01/02. Are there any players like this that can be picked up for peanuts and become world class?? also any magical tactics out there, like www2. Or is it a bit more difficult these days? Decided to go as newcastle btw, so i have £160K to spend:| bit crap but meh. Should be fun. Thinking about getting a couple of defenders maybe?

cheers

Right, first thing i did with Newcastle was slap Bramble, Dyer, Butt, Babayaro and Luque on the transfer list. Bramble will almost certainly go to Rangers and Boro always come in for Dyer. You easily get yourselves over £4 million for the both of them and a huge chunk taken from the wage budget, Dyer is on 60k a week!!!! Butt and Luque are much harder to sell. They are on large wages so i eventually let them go on free's.

First player you should go for is Josep Guardioloa on a free - Spanish DM - 35 but still has a good year or two in him and his wage demands are tiny. Immediately enter negotiations with Man Utd and extend Rossi's loan to a full season. He is great cover for Martins who will score most of your goals.

If you need a cheap target man you can get Brian McBride for 100k. He can hold the ball up well and supply Martins with the flick-ons. Dagoberto is a good AM to cover Emre.

In defense i got Micheal Ball for next to nothing to replace Babayaro and brought in Stehpen Warnock on loan. Van Dan Borre is a must. I was close to getting Igor Tudor but negotiations broke down at the last minute.

Bit long winded but i hope it helps :)

Cardenas is a real gem (Y)

Kris Haestad is a solid signing that you can get on a free in December 06

Others (though slightly higher priced) that become real stars are Curtis Davies and Andres Guardado. Both well worth the money you pay for them.

oh and DEFINATELY keep hold of Milner and N'Zogbia (Y)

If you have some money, I recommend Higuain. Fantastic player, costed me 9,5M but I will surely sell him for more. Last season was something near the 1 goal per game.

Buy the 18 year-old brazilian left-back marcelo - plays for fluminense, who have reportedly agreed a £6.5 miilion deal with real madrid in reality. He's outstanding - one of THE best full-backs on the game!

retrain him as an LM and he's far better suited imo.

Depends on the tactic, if you use attacking fullbacks he can be very deadly.

As for young talents, Nani of Sporting and Anderson of Porto are very good.

Yeah, Dazmania said it. Retraining Marcelo to AML will give you awesome results.

i've never bothered with doing my own training routines/targets before on any FM game, i've now discovered it works a treat! 2 Other talented youths (especially in the long run) are junior khanye and lebohang mokoena

Aguero is a bit of a special talent on FM. His attacking stats are everything you want in a striker, bit overrated in proportion to his real-life skill though.

very hard to get him though in the first year.

I just spend 37.5 million pounds on him. He's been okay so far... I'm more interested in how he'll turn out. I'm in 2009 with Tottenham.

Also, I just bough C. Ronaldo and I'm playing him at left midfield. He's a attacking left midfielder, so I'm wondering if it's OK to play him at left mid and not attacking midfield. It shows an orange circle under positions for the left mid spot. Am I not taking full advantage of him by playing him at left mid with an forward arrow?

Curtis Davies from West Brom

You can get him for about £6mill at the beginning of the first season, i made the mistake of not getting him and spent £35mill on him. Solid as a freaking rock. My player of FM 2007 so far.

You can sign gareth bale from so'ton after 16th july 06 for around £1.5 million, if you offer before hand he just signs a new contract. He becomes awesome if you play him regularly in the first team.

Cardenas is a must TBH. Starts very cheap, very young, and develops into a top-tier sort of player.

As far as tactics, I don't know about "supertactics" (like WWW2, Diablo) but some form of 4-4-2 System (depending on players) has done the job for me in the last few FM's. It's really just about adjusting the instructions to the strengths of your squad.

Joaquin free? That sounds impossible.

no... do it as your first thing... make a generous offer of 0 and see what happens... ;)
or offer a 10% incentive etc - you shouldn;t have to pay for him....
