Before installed fifa 2001 i installed directx 8 on my computer. but if I play a game game suddenly stops and I get back to the windows desktop, I think it is a directx problem because in the map support there i a program calls FIFA 2001 EZ and in the tab requirements I see in the line directx my computer has direct 7 and also a red circle wirh a cross. So i think it is adirectx problem.
What can I do? Help!!!!!!!!!!!

It hasn't to do with DirectX 8.0, because it's even better. FIFA 2001 plays much faster with DirectX 8.0 than 7.0a!! I have the same crashing problem with 7.0, 7.0a and 8.0!! So it doesn't make a difference. There is still no solution to the problem, I'm sorry!! Do you have a VIA Tech motherboard, a AGP videocard and a PCI soundcard?? That is one of the known troublemakers!!!!! That's the problem I have and many others!! What you can do is to disable your soundcard and networkcard, so there's no conflict anymore, but then you won't be able to play with the gamepad, no sound and no internet!! So that's a bad solution!!! You can also try to press ctrl+alt+del and shut down everything except explorer and systray!! And try to play ont the highest resolution, the game will last longer and use a camera angel as far as possible. Those are the only solutions I have and I use, but it isn't THE solution!!!

Guy,
if you really have VIA Tech mother board, try to download the latest via chipset driver
at http://www.via.com.tw .intall it then reinstall the directx, then try to install your latest display driver.

You not need to disable anything after that.
It may be the Solution!
