the -Russian Rocket- 23-08-2001, 11:23:PM Urrgghhh. We always get tough groups. Well, Spartak, when gets a very easy group, always plays like **** -- that's what was 2 years ago. But when Spartak get tough groups, they always surprise (3 years ago, last year).. So we'll see. We do have a chance here; at least this group as Spartak will still be in form playing the first group phaze. Every game in the Russian league they improve, and they start to impress now with the results. And Titov is playing well; when he plays like ****, the team plays like ****. When he is on; the team is on the roll, too. He'll be a very important factor either in Spartak's success, or in Spartak's failure.
as for Lokomotiv, surprisingly they actually played well against Tirol Innsbruck.. But their league matches don't impress, though, so I don't think they'll have a chance against Real Madrid and Roma.. Now this IS a tough group.. They can get the 3rd place, but I wouldn't surprise if they finish behind Anderlecht, too.. But I hope they won't, though.
Nimreitz: now with Spartak in a better form than last February-March (because Russian league starts in April, and Feb-Mar was the offseason time), and that the team got a few good players since that time, I say that they can do better than lose both matches to Bayern.. Say, I predict a 1:1 draw in Moscow, and a 2:1 loss in Munich.. That would be at least a start..
and, I wouldn't exclude Sparta Prague, too. Spartak lost 5:2 to them 2 years ago, so there is always a chance they can surprise.
the_man 23-08-2001, 11:43:PM group D always living up to it's reputation as the group of Death. Should be interesting to see the two teams that squeeze out of that one.
Silencer 24-08-2001, 12:16:AM Juve, Porto and Rosenborg.
GOODBYE CELTIC :D
Ajax beat you this week on your own turf, guess what Juve and Porto will do to you hehehe. My prediction: Celtic won't make it!
PSV has a tough one against Lazio and Gala.
Feyenoord against Bayern Munich should be a good game to watch for sure!
CANADIAN_10 24-08-2001, 01:42:AM You guys havn't seen Fenerbahce's team yet. Just wait and watch Fener. I hate them but I have to admit the quality that team they have. To tell you the trueth they are a bigger opponent to gala then Real Madrid cause of them being the one of the biggest rivels in the Turkish league. Gala beat real madrid 2 out of 3 last year, but struggled to beat fener for the past few years. Fener won't go through this group but they will trouble levercusen lyonaise and the giants barca. It will be very interesting can't waite. :D :D

That is right what i am saying, Spartak, should do pretty good this season.
Jari Litmanen 24-08-2001, 06:20:AM My respects go out to Russian club football with the two Moscow rivals in the UCL. This should be interesting. It will also be nice to see how Liverpool fair in this year's competition and will Anderlecht and Boavista be able to succeed in tough groups.
mikasalo32 24-08-2001, 06:45:AM Group D is gonna be the best one to watch.Lazio,Gala,PSV and Nantes, almost too close to call.
Good to see Arsenal have an easy group :D
And also Liverpool were seeded but they had to qualify to get into the competition???
Plus Roma won their league, but Juvetus and Lazio were the seeds???
Uefa are so ****ed up...........
Luc Nilis 25-08-2001, 06:47:AM I think PSV stands a very good chance and really looking forward to see them in the 2th round this year. Unlike Anderlecht who have drawn with Lokomotiv Moskow, AS Roma and Real Madrid one of the toughest groups in the first round.
How can Juventus have a tough group? The rest of the teams are good, but juventus are at another level. But it might actually be close, if you take Juventus' CL performance last year.
Dhruv 25-08-2001, 09:44:AM Yeah Man!
Manchester against Deportivo is gonna be Awesome...One of the best attacking team against one of the best defences (after Valencia Of course!)....Can't wait to see the match
