DJLethal

Well, I'm 78.3% sure. I heard it on the Dutch League TV. They even named the transfer money. It was 55 million guilders. But I didn't mension because I don't know how much dollar that is. I think about 20 million.

It's not Juve it's Lazio Roma. I always get confused with those 2

personaly i don't think they have sold him for 20 million dollars. because they have bought him from PSV for about 25 million dollars, so they make a 5 million negativ...i can not believe this **** because he become a top defender at manchester.

DJLethal

Let me see. 1 dollar is about 2.4 guilders. 55:2.4=22.9 So you could say he left for 23 million.

don't call it Lazio Roma, because there is a team already called Roma, so it would get confusing with "Lazio Roma". Simply "Lazio". No need to name the city because there is just one Lazio in the world. Yet it is benificial to name a city when a team is called Dinamo. Because you don't know what Dinamo; Kiev (?), Moscow (?), Tbilisi (?), Minsk (?)..

as for Stam. Heh, that's weird.. There is the player we all criticized leaving for 20 million bucks. Who will Manchester United look for replacement, now that they have 23 millions of spare money?

Amika
26-08-2001, 10:11:AM
i think they brought him for 10.75 million pound and not 20 million... and the offer fees made by lazio is 18 million

and i think this is a freaking wrong decision made by ferguson... but anyway, it is good news to all liverpool fans... :D

I'm not talking about pounds, I'm talking about DOLLARS!

I think if United keeps having problems with the defence, they will buy Kevin Hofland from PSV. There were some interests before from United for Hofland.

Here is a report that i found a few hours ago, i never give it a thought in regard to posting it in here, but anyways it's here now..Ned

Stam set for Lazio

Jaap Stam is set to leave Manchester United in a £15million ($A40.65million) move to Lazio.

According to the Dutch defender himself, the club has agreed a fee with the Serie A giants and a United spokesman confirmed that the club had received an offer.

"This has come out of the blue, but it's true," said Stam. "United have accepted an offer from the Italian club this weekend.

"I have never wanted to leave but United have agreed a fee with Lazio and it seems both sides are eager to discuss a transfer.

"I have no choice but to consider my options. Lazio are now free to talk to me and we will see what happens over the next few days," he told The News Of The World.

Two weeks ago Stam's controversial autobiography was published. In it he accuses manager Sir Alex Ferguson of tapping him up and attacks several of his Old Trafford team-mates.

United spokesman Patrick Harverson revealed: "I can confirm we have had an offer from Lazio."

Stam was dropped from the Manchester United squad for Wednesday's visit to Blackburn after a shaky performance last weekend when Fulham's Louis Saha left him embarrassed more than once in United's 3-2 defeat of the Premiership newcomers at Old Trafford.
< My 2 bobs worth in relation to Louis Saha, going by his performance against Man Utd, he could be going to embarrass a few more named defenders before the season is over.>

The recent serialisation of Stam's autobiography in a tabloid newspaper has certainly done him no favours.

The 29-year-old, who joined United in a £10.6million ($A28.7million) deal from PSV Eindhoven in 1998, admitted: "I realise the commotion around my book has not done me any favours.

"The start to my season has been disastrous. To be sitting at home while my team is playing left me with a horrible feeling."

It seems nobody at the club knew about the publication of the book in which the Dutchman accused United manager Sir Alex Ferguson of making an illegal approach for him when he was at PSV and encouraging the United players to dive.

He also described the Neville brothers as whingers and said that David Beckham "may not be the brightest spark".

United are reportedly back in the hunt for Inter Milan's veteran French defender Laurent Blanc as a replacement for Stam.

No it's no rumour I'm afraid but it's real allright
Just now on the Dutch tv there was an interview with his manager and he confirmed it. According to him it's 99.9% sure that he will play for Lazio. Cragnetti allready told the press that he will present Stam tomorrow as his new asset for Lazio.

Biiiiiiiiiiiiiiig mistake from Alex Ferguson, really a dumb move on his part.
Stam is one of the best defenders in Europe and after the 1-1 against Aston Villa this afternoon it's obvious that ManU now has a big problem in the defense.
Ferguson told the international press that the transfer has nothing to do with the book Stam wrote. Yeah right

v. Nistelrooy said in an interview on the Dutch tv after the match against Villa that the players of ManU were stunned after they heared the news and that he really hopes that it's not true.

It's for sure, Stam will play for Lazio so he will meet his old club PSV in the CL.
Tomorrow Stam will tell the worldpress why he made this difficult decision because it's obvious that he wanted to remain at Old Trafford.

Man Utd already have a poor defence. With no Stam thier best defender will make them even worse. Poor Old Red Devils.

Help?
27-08-2001, 05:15:AM
Well, i don't know what will be with them and yeah, they need more good defenders, but remember last year? United got 5 points from first 3 games too. Maybe it will be the same this year.

yes...
i really couldn't take it....and i still can't believe it right now. everyone knows Jaap has always been a loyal United player and i'm sure it's not because of his book incident which caused all this mess. Fergie must be mad, u might say. however, this article from The Sun caught my eye, revealing that Fergie had intended to offload Stam as an exchange deal for Viera during the summer, but was rejected by Wenger of course. All this sums up to say Fergie has been keeping this secretly to himself and in many ways it has been very unfair for Jaap.

If Fergie wanted to let Jaap go, he should have at least told him before hand. we're not the only sad ones, i'm sure the person feeling most down is Jaap himself. It has come at a very startling and surprised time. to add salt to injury, Fergie replied to him saying Lazio's offer was irresistible and hence they sold him....;-(

Hopefully, ManU manages to sign a great central back to replace Jaap's void. Blanc may do the job, but i personally feel that he's way past his prime. Cannavaro, Ayala and Sorin are my 3 favourites and realistic possibilies of United's replacement.

Right now, this has dampen the whole MAnU team and they really are in a CRISIS...

Help?
28-08-2001, 06:45:AM
I would like United to sign Sorin, he is doing his job very well in South America, Blanc would be good too, but he is getting old i think, we need someone, to sign, till the end of this week or we will have a crappy defense in Cl. And i think so too, that Stam was pulled out. This guy is not lying. Stam said it in his interview.

haha
28-08-2001, 07:34:PM
This is so funny. Irwin is leaving at the end of the season, Blanc will be to old after this season, Johnson will never be back to his full potential, because of all of his injury troubles. The neville brothers are ****, so United are so screwed :D

Ferguson made the biggest mistake in his entire career, Fergie is know for his no-nonsene way of handling players who cross the line but kicking someone out is a disgrace, Stam said he wanted to talk about it and then Ferguson turns around and says it didnt have anything to do with the book?nonsene!
