Basically, is FIFA 2001 worth it?

I have FIFA 2000 and do enjoy it but it can get boring. The gameplay is frustrating and the overall layout of the game is not as good as it has been in the past. Is FIFA 2001 a lot better?

Another question for you all, which controller do you use when playing FIFA. I use a Gravis Gamepad Pro but find it hard to run in a straight line, my player just wants to turn at right angles.

Any suggestions/comments would be very grateful. Thanks.

I'd say get it. The graphics are awsome, and the game itself is fun.

to be honest, i buy the game for 5 dollars...
so i was not so worried about if the game worth the money or not....i have it about 3 days ago...i played a lot...but i think that theres not so many diferences from the 2000..
the graphics and a few moves....and its some more difficult to run trough the defenders like it was on fifa 2000... sorry for my english. buy it. i play with the keyboard.

I would say a big NO!The gameplay's fun?Stressful I would say....Except for the graphics...the rest of the features is lame...I'd rather play my outdated ISS Pro Evo than sit infront of my PC and play that game which I bought for $49.90!

Well, the kits have been Improved
The Pitch has been made realisticly bigger
And the realism has improved over 2000
BUT
The realism over 2000 is utter rubbish
The Pitch has been made bigger presents the problem that less action can be seen (but you can download the camera fix here)
And well, that's about it.

I have been playing the Fifa game since Fifa 99. I reckon Fifa 2001 is the best game in the Fifa series. A big improvement in the graphic and commentary.It is more difficult to play than unchallenging Fifa 2000.

I agree. The graphics are better, the players move more realistically and overall it is a better game. As far as the "2001 Haters", they seem to be a lot of people who don't know how or are to lazy to play the game for REAL. Remember this is a VIDEO GAME and these "2001 Haters" seem to forget that. Bottom line my friend, if you want to enjoy some time in front of the PC buy it. If you want to be able to smell the fresh cut grass and fell the breeze as a player whips past you, grab a football and head to the pitch!

I've had this game for a week now and despite some early misgivings, I can't stop playing it.EA deserve a pat on the back for sheer effort they've obviously put into this game.The commentary in particular is fantastic! Fifa 2000 and the now DEAD Euro 2000 [visit the forum if you don't believe me] left me feeling like I'd dropped my sandwich in a puddle.My left thumb hasn't been so sore since Fifa '99.

Fifa 2001 is not perfect but You should buy it. The game speed is good, the graphics are the best of the serie. But the must important of all, the gameplay is the best of the serie, after Fifa 98.
