View Full Version : Will Real Madrid be beatable next season???
Real Madrid have a midfield now with Zidane and Figo. All the other players scattered all over the pitch like Raul and Roberto Carlos will make this team almost unbeatable.
Who can challenge this champion team?????
Alenitchev 07-07-2001, 07:41:AM No team is unbeatable. I still believe that Zidane's and Figo personalities will clash, so there might live the weak point...
mikasalo32 07-07-2001, 10:47:AM Whether their personalitys clash or not there still going to be very ****in hard to beat.
Can't stop the rush... 07-07-2001, 11:20:AM They will be probably win La Liga again and they are going to reclaim the CL(If all goes well).
But watch out for Deportivo de la Coruņa in europe!!!
lol :D
Dhruv 07-07-2001, 08:45:PM What happened to Salas...i think he's gone to real as well
Amika 08-07-2001, 03:13:AM no team are unbeatable...

I agree but there are a couple teams being close to unbeatable.
:)

I agree.
Amika 08-07-2001, 08:54:AM yape.. i must agreed with you team like real madrid and bayern munich... ;)
Dhruv 08-07-2001, 09:05:AM if you guys think real are unbeatable what about teams like Arsenal,Inter,Leeds,Liverpool who have brought in some really great players
(Though i personally think these teams are way ahead of Man Utd.)
Can't stop the rush... 08-07-2001, 11:19:AM I think Inter will be good this season...
I think Inter will go better than this season, seeing they only made UEFA cup. Inter should perform well in Europe, and make CL for the following season. Rumour says that Vieri may return to Juve.
swfmatt 08-07-2001, 12:43:PM Let's not forget about Thuram and Nedved joining Juve... and Buffon (Van Der Sar might be going to Barca)... and Vieri.... I think Juve didn't lose too much.... it's a shame Davids won't be able to play because of the doping...
And yes, Real is beatable, ESPECIALLY with Iker Cassilas in goal. So, that answers your question...heh...
Rivaldo32Valencia 08-07-2001, 03:31:PM Real will lose to eternal rivals Barcelona
Saviola will destroy Real.
They have an ageing team eg, Zidane,Figo,Hierro Roberto Carlos, etc. And they will be beatable because of crappy Ivan Campo.
It's Between Bayer, Real Madrid and Manchester United. They've all been the best three in europe in the last three years, and I think i will be down to those guys again!

Is that a hint at the fact that Iker Casillas is crap, because he ISN'T!!!
Nimreitz 08-07-2001, 10:19:PM Actually, yes, Iker Casillas IS crap. Did you see the goal he gave up to Elber at the Bernabeau, it was a slow and from 35 meters away.
spaceboy 09-07-2001, 12:05:AM I think that if they get Zanetti Thuram Salas and Zidane they can be very close to UNBEATABLE.
I guess that they can play something like this
------------Casillas
Zanetti Thuram Hierro R.Carlos
------Makelele---Helguera
Figo--------------------Zidane
---------Raul-----Salas
and that is a very powerful squad
But letīs not forget that sometimes a team is succesful because of the whole group of players and that teams full of stars may fail anyways (just remember Barcelona that had de boer, petit, guardiola, overmars, l.Enrique, Rivaldo and kluivert but they werenīt succesful)
spaceboy
mikasalo32 09-07-2001, 12:18:AM Well they definately wont be getting Thuram so theres no point worrying about that.

You gotta remeber that Casillas is only 20 years old.
He will get much better.
SatanJones 09-07-2001, 02:23:AM AC Milan will be one of the top 6 or 7 in Europe following their transfer season. With forwards like Shevchenko, Inzaghi, and Javi Moreno, and a playmaker like Rui Costa, they have potentially the best offense in Europe. Watch out two years from now, when they're in the CL. Next year, watch a kickass UEFA run.
mikasalo32 09-07-2001, 04:23:AM Who says in 2 years time their gonna have the same team. They might lose players like Maldini and Shevchenko. But anyways this season it looks like theeir gonna go well and i hope the team does stick together so they get a good run at the champions league in 2002/03.
Woody_007 09-07-2001, 11:47:PM Madrid has the traitor and Zidane, but Barca have Rivaldo and Saviola. What it comes down to his will. Who wants it more. Personally, I think Barca have the will and the talent, especially after last year's disappointment. Barca biggest concern will be how to cope with the loss of our heart and captian, Guardiola. Realistically .... next year's Liga will be one hell of a season with Barca, Real, Deportivo and Valencia. And who knows which other team will spring up.
SatanJones 10-07-2001, 01:25:AM Maldini may leave, but Milan have two promising young defenders to take his spot in upcoming years. either way, it will not be the end of the world, although he is great. As for losing Shevchenko? That is unlikely to happen. they just signed him til 2006 (an extension), and they will pay anything to keep him while he is playing well (probably a long itme to come).
Silencer 10-07-2001, 02:01:PM Madrid will be tough to beat so that's even more of a challenge for other teams.
Real will win against Barca or smth but they can loose against minor teams like Sevilla or another minor team. That's just the way it goes and you can't do a damn thing about it. The championship next season will be another repeat between Barca and Real. One of them will become champions in the Primera Division mark my words!
Zidane and Figo on the midfield??
They both think they're GOD so that could be something :D
boiler 10-07-2001, 03:38:PM I don't think anyone is unbeatable. However, Real will be close if they have good chemistry between Zidane and Figo. If they don't play well together, it could be a bumpy season. And who knows, maybe one of them could get injured early in the season and Real's $60M will go down the tubes. What I really want to see, is a Real Madrid v. Man U CL final. That would be the ultimate matchup, because those 2 teams have been the most popular teams in the transfer market news this summer.
The FIFA RTWC Webmaster 10-07-2001, 04:11:PM Barca had Figo and Rivaldo...
Were they unbeatable?
Personally I think Ģ48M is too much to pay for anything... These transfer fees are really getting rediculous...
Help? 10-07-2001, 04:28:PM Yeah, and where Real have that much money? They were third in the richest club rankings. And they spend 64.5 million! If they will spend even more next season, then they just won't have money to pay for playing in the Spanish league or even CL!!! Like happened with Marseille, that was relegated this season to lower division, because if money.
Real Madrid may even go far into debt yet it is unlikely relegation would be on the cards.
Mike'Air'Moloney 12-07-2001, 04:55:PM Real Madrid won't get into terminal debts coz their local council has just bought some property and their training ground off them for a couple of hundred million dollars. Not only that, they've even built them a new one!
Anyway onto the main point in this thread:
Real Madrid are looking good on paper, but many things can undermine them. Injuries, suspensions, lapses in concentration, complacency or even their team not gelling. Man Utd, Juventus, Barcelona have all seen their supposedly "unbeatable" teams fall by the wayside, look at Inter and Lazio as well. And in England look at Chelsea, they were meant to sweep all before them. And also I don't think the other 31 teams in the Champions League are gonna just roll over for them!
There is no such thing as an unbeatable team, because teams are made up of humans, and humans are fallable. And besides if there was, then it'd kill football. Most of the fun of being a fan is the rollercoaster of emotions you go through every season, the joy, the tears etc.
So to answer the question: Yes I believe Real can be beaten next year.
Mike.

Nice speech you got there. Anyways as i said every team can't be unbeatble, because every player is a human and not a zombie who was told to win and only win. Even Real M. manager said, that they won't be unbeatble next season, because that's impossible.

I think I can conclude all this.
Real Madrid or any other team with a highly talented squad can be called unbeatable, but never losing one match is impossible.
This can occur through injuries, the opposing team's manager or even a form slump.
Real Madrid look destined to take out some trophies but never losing won't happen.

Yeah, that is if anyone gets any chances to shoot for goal... :D
Jambo Den 16-07-2001, 07:52:PM Real will probably win la Liga, and there midfeild looks incredible but they CANbe beaten.
they are not going to win the Champs League again because it's a sad excuse for a national stadium and is situated in a 3rd world style district where everyone has a phobia of soap.they may have won one of the best matches ever in 1960 but not now
