has everyone on this forum gone nuts themselves? you're reading the mirror or some cr@p like that. have you ever thought of reading between the lines? I thought that this transfer wouldn't have been that bigger thing. United are obviously in talks with other defenders otherwise they wouldn't have accepted Lazio's offer. He's not to BLAME at all. Can you blame him for wanting the best for Manchester United? Jaap had an achillies operation about a year ago and quite honestly hasn't been the same player since. He's been unerperforming. Alec probably thinks that Jaap doesn't fit the mould that he wants in the defence, and he even said that it wouldn't have been fair to leave the guy on the bench after all he has done for the club. It was back in '96, when brucey, shcmikes and pally formed the solid back line that is the best defence that Manchester United have had during their recent success. I think that Alec is looking for summin similar. The communication has to be there! and it hasn't been. im not saying that THAT was jaap's fault, but it might have been enough to prompt fergie to make a change.
All of this about the book being the "final straw" is a load of BULL! It's just a coincidence that United have sold him and the book has been released. he wouldn't have released it without the manager's permission if it has such a dramatic insight into Manchester United.
I admire Jaap Stam's abilities, and his assets and his contributions to Manchester United, but all the controversy it's caused is simply misplaced. You never know it could even have been a finance issue.(nah)
