I have received an email from a lady who is part of a team who is publishing a book about the Top 10 Annual events in the world. She would like to know what are the Top 10 most important ANNUAL football events. I have told her we'd be glad to help her. If everyone could post their top 10 list on what you consider to be the most important football events each year that would be a huge help!
1) The FA Cup!
2) ChampionsLeague Final
3) Uefa Cup final
4) Final Day of the League season
5) First Day of the League season
6) Worthington Cup Final
7) Champions League Transfer Deadline Day
8) Any day that Man Utd play Liverpool
9) Cup Semi-Final Days
10) Fixtures Day
Help?

World Cup is NOT annual.. World cup is held every 4 years, so is Euro Championship
I'll try my best
1. Champions' League Final
everybody is interested in it, the whole world..
2. First day of league play
it of course depends on what league as all leagues have different starting days, but oh well, if it disqualifies, so what.
3. UEFA Cup Final
also a biggy
4. Copa Libertadores Final
football/soccer is loved in South America just as much as in Europe, so it would be unfair to them to put their ANNUAL big tourney that much lower
5. FA Cup Final
all tradition
others, not in any particular order:
-Worthington Cup Final
-Any qualification match, be it World Cup, or local championships (like Copa America, Euro tournaments)
it is rather a tough question because unlike the American sports (NFL, MLB, NBA), in the world soccer tournaments/events do not happen annually.. Copa America, Euro Championship, World Cup, Under-21 Championships, Gold Cup, etc., are held every 2-4 years... And all European championships have different dates (first day, last day, transfer deadline), etc..
tough to see..

World Cup (although not anual)
Euro Champs (although not anual)
Copa America (although not anual)
FA Cup Final
Champions League Final
Prem League (although not a date)
FA Cup 3rd round day(s)
Wortthington Cup Final
Boxing day derbys
Div 1 Play off final
And the day Huddersfield return to there rightful place! (could be a long time yet)
