View Full Version : The 3rd Annual "F*ck TSN" Thread
rony31 20-02-2007, 07:55:PM It's that time of year again. any Canadians/Bulgarians who would like to rant over TSN's continuing stupidity in deciding to show Curling over Champions League football. well actually dont get me wrong, they do show games taped at 3:30am once in a while (since it's my reading week I'm staying up to watch Milan-Celtic tonight) :(
but back to the point:
FCUK YOU TSN :)
::shinji:: 20-02-2007, 08:21:PM Yeah I was bitchin' about this earlier... they do this sh!t every year whenever that Scott Tournament of Hearts in on. I don't what it is man, nobody likes f*ckin curling other than people in their 80's.. I was hoping TLN would be showing the CL game also, but nooooooo
TSN had a f*ckin' dog show on the other day...seriously.
I'm really happy they're not getting the Toronto FC games! That would have been a dissapointment waiting to happen..
EDIT: The Real Madrid/Bayern game is live on RDS if you have it. I don't..
rony31 20-02-2007, 08:23:PM well today they had BOWLING until 2:30, World Strongman Challenge til 3, and now Curling til 6... honestly do these things get better ratings than CL?
mark77 20-02-2007, 08:35:PM The Sh*t Network
rony31 20-02-2007, 09:35:PM so I'm not watching Celtic-Milan at 3:30am on second thought... figure I dont need to give them 1 extra viewer for that kind of match :(
I watched the game on RDS (thank God Catherine Douville was missing today).
Can you get it in Toronto or outside Quebec ? I thought you could.
rony31 20-02-2007, 09:50:PM ya I used to have RDS but got rid of it after the Tournament of Hearts was over... should've got it back since then :(
night 20-02-2007, 10:18:PM Well that proves that the average age of the Canadian population is around 70 (H)
Help? 20-02-2007, 10:53:PM TSN is a big corporation with a vision for the future. A few years down the road, 50% of the canadian population will be retirees, so TSN is trying to adjust now, so that they can make more money in the future.
Now wether they should still be allowed to keep CL rights in Canada or even be called a "SPORTS" network after showing curling, poker, bowling etc., that's a different story.
dipset 20-02-2007, 11:09:PM ya'll should sent complaints to the networks ...it works...when thiers a bunch of ya
Paulo Da Silva 21-02-2007, 12:18:AM im sick and tired of TSN. its all bout Sportsnet and the Score (I hope to god they get CL rights-- they would do things right)
yoyo913 21-02-2007, 12:30:AM I was going to make this thread
THEY SHOWED ******* CURLING INSTEAD
luckly i had a french sport network that i got through digital cable that showed Bayern Real
::shinji:: 21-02-2007, 12:39:AM didn't RDS used to be free with rogers digital? I swear I used to have it but not anymore..
zlojack 21-02-2007, 01:31:AM http://www.tsn.ca/soccer/on_tsn/?show=soccer
So this schedule isn't right then?
Wow... I was going to sneak out of the office to watch Barca tomorrow....
Sometimes I wonder why I moved back to Canada (especially after freezing my balls off the past couple of weeks) :kader:
EDIT: Oh wait...they're showing the games a day later tape delayed....greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aat!
Hopeunited 21-02-2007, 03:24:AM I spam mailed TSN last year around this time due to an incident like this. Will do it again.
zlojack 21-02-2007, 03:25:AM I spam mailed TSN last year around this time due to an incident like this. Will do it again.
I'll sign up for that.

Yeah, that schedule is bang on, which is the problem
didy: i don't think that even if TSN got a thousand of e-mails complaining about scheduling, would they still change anything. The channel is turning more and more recreational and leisure and less and less athletic. And unfortunately sportsnet seems to be following the suit as well.
And they complain about having fat lazy kids :nape: . You can't watch sports, you gotta pay **** loads of money to play sports, when you want to rent a field with 4 people they tell you to pay 35 bucks for the field, but when you have 10 people they say "pay 5/person" and you can't even rent to play on an indoor "SOCCER" field in winter because some old people rent it all out to fly their RC motor toy airplanes :nape: :nape: :nape: . **** THIS COUNTRY. They better hope that my ass doesn't end up going to big schools and becoming the PM of Canada, otherwise this country will see some major reconstructions.

Problem is... the baby boom is getting old and they are the ones with the most buying power. I work in market analytics and it is crazy the effect they have on the marketing mindset of EVERY company.

never thought of it that way... very eye opening :o (Y)

yeah, which is exactly what i said on the first page in this thread :ewan:
coach 21-02-2007, 06:37:AM If TSN thinks more highly of a dumbass "sport" such as curling to delay the champions league, then they should give up the rights to another channel that will show the games live. Maybe Sportsnet would show more respect to the Footie than the channel dedicated to the obese, chain smoking demographic of Canada (which oddly enough, is in Alberta.)
I got all four matches on LOCAL TV (H)
Canada :rockman:
::shinji:: 21-02-2007, 01:16:PM Maybe Sportsnet would show more respect to the Footie than the channel dedicated to the obese, chain smoking demographic of Canada (which oddly enough, is in Alberta.)
haha no doubt, Alberta is totally the Canadian equivelent of Texas. A true "red" province if there ever was one... (although Ontario can be pretty conservative too, outside of the 3-4 major cities)
That's interesting zlojack, makes total sense when you think about it. Must be why there's are so many viagra and cialis commercials on these days.
tsn is back to their old habits. what happened to the times of three matches per day?
Yossarian 21-02-2007, 03:08:PM Soccer (normal weekly club matches, not sure about the UCL) only draws 50-80k viewers. Curling on the other hand can draw as much as a million viewers.
Sucks baby elephant dick for us, I know, but it's just business, man.
coach 21-02-2007, 03:30:PM tsn is back to their old habits. what happened to the times of three matches per day?
That was during the Hockey lockout year, ahh....those were the times.:)
zlojack 21-02-2007, 05:04:PM yeah, which is exactly what i said on the first page in this thread :ewan:
Yeah, but I'm an "expert" with the numbers to back it up!:mexican:
But yeah... good point. I was just building on what you said.
It's funny how they continue to affect the marketplace on their slow march to senility.
You'll notice how marketers are aiming for a "cool" and "sexy" approach to old people's products now.
Still, I would think that some of these companies with any vision would realize that if they completely alienate the younger demographic, they are going to be in trouble. But I guess they'll cross that bridge when they burn it.

At the end of the day thats all it is.
Not much can be done, except to hope someone else gets the rights for CL.
::shinji:: 21-02-2007, 05:15:PM ah yes, the hockey lockout.. those were good times indeed!
Now if we could only get another hockey lockout combined with a baseball strike all in the same year...then maybe TSN would pay more attention to soccer (ah who's kiddin' who, that would just mean more poker and fishing)

Don't forget Darts and Bowling.
yoyo913 21-02-2007, 06:51:PM off topic but canada related: Is the young PSV de Guzman going to play for canada or try to play for holland?
rony31 21-02-2007, 07:17:PM last I heard he was playing for Holland.. sucks balls because he's rated as one of the top 10 up and coming stars in the world
::shinji:: 21-02-2007, 07:26:PM It sucks for us, but putting myself in their shoes I really can't blame guy like Guzman and Hargreaves... playing for Canada won't help their careers at all, and the way the CSA operates, I wouldn't want to be involved with them either if I had a choice
BayernFan01 21-02-2007, 07:40:PM he's rated as one of the top 10 up and coming stars in the world
camon be serious :monkey:
rony31 21-02-2007, 08:04:PM Stewart told me that like 6 months ago so it has to be true
::shinji:: 05-03-2007, 02:25:PM Bastards, they did it again! ...and wtf is up with showing the Bayern game twice, back to back?
Mar 7th UEFA Champs. League Round of 16 Leg #2: Liverpool vs. Barcelona 12:00 AM
Mar 8th UEFA Champs. League Round of 16 Leg #2: Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid 3:30 AM
Mar 8th UEFA Champs. League Round of 16 Leg #2: Bayern Munich vs. Real Madrid 12:30 PM
TLN will be showing the Valencia-Inter game live on Tuesday though.
Soccer21 05-03-2007, 03:30:PM The most annoying thing about TSN is Bob Mckenzie.
death to tsn! atleast tln is showing the inter game
ninobomba 06-03-2007, 03:14:AM ******* TSN!!! i just emailed them
**** THAT!
zlojack 06-03-2007, 03:54:AM **** **** **** TSN blows. I guess I will have to find a bar and take an extended lunch.
I'm glad that I have RDS as a backup. TSN f*ckin blows now.
Oh wow, RDS are showing their retarded curling, even if the CL game was planned on their schedule.
Awesome (Y)
ninobomba 06-03-2007, 08:42:PM thats why you got internet streaming :D
They are showing the games on the Sports Preview Channel. Ch. 401 for Rogers in Toronto.
They'll show the Bayern v Real match in the regular time on that channel.
And TSN ***in sucks and they will probably have the CL rights forever because they are bed buddies with ESPN.
night 06-03-2007, 09:55:PM thats why you got internet streaming :D
Exactly. Finding links for the match you want to watch is easy nowadays if you're having trouble finding it on TV
::shinji:: 06-03-2007, 10:00:PM true, but that's not the point here..
Besides, I think watching a game on a 40" screen in the comfort of your living room is a bit more enjoyable than through a streaming video on a computer screen.
EDIT: It also has more to do with the fact that TSN has a history of scrapping soccer for things like curling, you'd have to be a soccer fan in Canada to understand..
Devils 06-03-2007, 10:02:PM For internet peoples download tvu player, it got few soccer channels and i watched most games in there.
night 06-03-2007, 10:08:PM true, but that's not the point here..

I know. But I was giving frustrated people some hope :p
Moreira_Benfica 06-03-2007, 10:34:PM i know im late but it gave the liverpool-barca game today on channel 204 ( if you have the rogers digital cable box) hopefully they show another game tommorow~!

I know how you feel!!! The people of whole Europe where watching ******* snooker for 4 hours just to see 40 minutes long coverage of Dakad rally 2007 after that (on ****eaters EUROSPORT). All people of europe was mad about that! What was the "BEST" - faggot comentators was telling "HOW EXCITING THIS ******* SNOOKER GAME WAS!!!!!!!!!!" I was ready to trow my TV out of the window!!!!
Help? 06-03-2007, 11:44:PM i know im late but it gave the liverpool-barca game today on channel 204 ( if you have the rogers digital cable box) hopefully they show another game tommorow~!
Yeah, thanks for that! Bayern-Real tomorrow live at 2:30 ET
you'd have to be a soccer fan in Canada to understand..

::shinji:: 07-03-2007, 01:37:PM i know im late but it gave the liverpool-barca game today on channel 204 ( if you have the rogers digital cable box) hopefully they show another game tommorow~!
better late than never man, thanks..
coach 07-03-2007, 07:01:PM Thanks Moreira!
Now, I can watch Champions League without having to learn Cantonese.
night 07-03-2007, 07:22:PM Thanks Moreira!
Now, I can watch Champions League without having to learn Cantonese.
Haha I know what you mean. Those commentators are so annoying which is explains why I desperately search for channels with English commentators (other than that ESPN douchebag obviously, what's his name again?)
rony31 07-03-2007, 08:18:PM thanks for the tip, Moreira (Y)
pasion1 08-03-2007, 02:16:AM TSN is nothing compared to ESPN. Atleast football/soccer is treated with respect/seriously in Canada when they show it on one of the top 3 networks (especially the score, where they're extremely football friendly). <<It's something we take for granted and even still criticize. I couldnt believe that before the 2006 World Cup, football was even more bashed than they do in the states. (in live media).>>
But ESPN? I heard from someone that they actually act like assholes on purpose to get ratings and angry letters. They really dont care, it's just business to them.
IE: Yesturday Liverpool qualified over Barcelona, and both ESPN2 guys (the white guy and the asian guy) were just sitting there laughing about how stupid the "away goal" rule is.
"So why did that red team go through?"
"Well this odd thing called the away goal"
"Ooooooooooooooooooooooohhhh........*cracks up*"
What a bunch of douche bags.
Help? 03-04-2007, 05:20:AM Just the heads up for all you canadians out there. Sports Preview Channel, which is one on 401, one in late 80's or 90's and i even think its also on channel 1, anyways whatever you have for the Sports Preview Channel, they will be showing Milan - Bayern LIVE tomorrow at 2:30 pm and Roma - United LIVE Wednesday at 2:30 pm.
Again, thanks for the great find to Moreira_Benfica.
Moreira_Benfica 03-04-2007, 12:30:PM yea
Channel 204 (rogers digital cable) Milan-Bayern
treble41 03-04-2007, 10:59:PM If you wanna see CL live or whatever other match in whatever other league and you live in Canada and don’t have American satellite then you can go to myp2p.eu and watch it for free (just follow the instructions, you just have to download a program like sopcast or TV Ants) and then click on the link to the game.
Anyways, funny thing about curling. I had a field trip today (for physics class) where we got to curling on the same day as the CL match. Because of this friggin field trip, I got a head ache (because the temperature in the rink was more freezing than usual none of us were dressed warmly) and I got home late so I didn’t get to watch the whole CL match. So I’m pretty much hating curling right now. It’s like chess on ice; useless. Sorry for the rant by the way.
rony31 04-04-2007, 07:53:PM haha, now they're showing Classic Golf instead of Chelsea-Valencia (H)
Moreira_Benfica 10-04-2007, 02:04:AM guys dont rub your eyes whenyou read what im about to say
on tsn.ca on tv schedule it shows tommrow
2:30 PM UEFA Champs. League: Quarterfinal Leg #2 - Manchester United vs. Roma
:O:O:D
Help? 10-04-2007, 02:13:AM Yeah i believe Poker/Curling/Equastrian/Bowling/Darts/Rock Climbing competitions are over
Klobb 10-04-2007, 03:13:AM Don't count out grass growing watching, i hear that sport is making a comeback
ninobomba 10-04-2007, 04:49:AM its about time
RobbieD_PL 10-04-2007, 01:11:PM Hey Guys, I'm planning to be on exchange in Toronto, b/w August and December. Which TV station will be broadcasting Euro 2008 Qualfiers over there? :D
Help? 10-04-2007, 04:46:PM TLN might show italian games. Fox Sports World Canada and Fox Soccer Channel usually show qualifying games.
ninobomba 10-04-2007, 08:16:PM TV5 shows france qualifying games
ZamundaMan 15-04-2007, 05:59:PM They've actually shown all the major games live this year, but on the "preview channel" courtesy of TSN. Every province has it different though, where I am, that is channel 17 (where they advertise the digital service of shaw/rogers etc). The regular TSN (usually 23) shows classic gold, curling, child molesting etc, but Channel 17 shows the good ish.
treble41 16-04-2007, 11:47:PM Do TSN do this just to piss us football fans off?
Try checking out the thread I made on watching football online. They show almost every major Euro qualifier so it shouldn't be a problem getting that game no matter where you live.
Sportsnet usually shows the England game and TV5 shows the French one.
Help? 17-04-2007, 12:39:AM Yea, but you gotta admit, online experience is just not the same.
treble41 17-04-2007, 01:10:AM I'd obviously rather watch it on the tele. I got my parents to buy a big screen a few years ago for sports but if it's not on then there isn't much choice. I really get annoyed at how we're supposed to be a globalized world but we don't even get effin BBC or Sky (BBC America doesn't count) on cable or satellite.
