I'm just reading posts, and I'm confused

Everybody says Chelsea will win Valencia without problems. Why are you so sure about it? I'm seeing the same things as Inter match. Why are Chelsea fans (or not Chelsea fans) completely sure that they are going to win the knockout vs Valencia?

Please, I need to know it, because I'm seeing a lot of haughty. I'd like very much to know your opinions about the match. And I don't see the same things happens to the other matches in quaterfinals. I'd like to know why is this the most clearly macth for all of you. I'm feeling like if Valencia was a second division team in Spain or something like that :nape: :nape: :nape:

I don't believe in such a thing as an easy game or an easy win Valencia will be just as difficult as playing Barca or Bayern no difference, at this stage no one can predict any games.

what are you talking about...A minnow team like Lille gave united such a hard time. You think chelsea will have it easy against valencia?..

I haven't been that impressed by Valencia's football (or their fighting skills, haha), anyways I think Porto plays better football than Valencia and I'll be surprised if Chelsea doesn't go through comfortably. But, you never know I guess..

I think Valencia will give Chelsea a good fight not literally of course.

Valencia and Chelsea will be one of the more interesting ties and its gonna be tough especially with Chelsea have to play the away leg at the Mestalla, but i dunno i think Chelsea can just narrowly win it

I wouldn't be so disrespectful towards a good club like Valencia by writing them off so easy. Although a couple of their players picked up bans this week that will mean missing the Chelsea game, I still think that the result is nigh impossible to predict. No way would I ever underestimate Valencia, and I don't think Jose will either.

You clearly haven't been hearing what some ManU Fans are saying in regards to their match against Roma.

Same people who said Inter would show Arsenal "real football" a few years back. Don't listen to them, we play on grass not paper, well, sometimes Chelsea plays on sand, but the point still stands.

Chelsea vs Liverpool would be a lot better round compared to Valencia against Liverpool/PSV so I think you might have a reason to cheer for Chelsea for once. Chelsea are starting to return to full strength so I'd favour them, not just because I'm a fan.

It's not that it's a clear pass for Chelsea, whatever the fans might say, Mou recognises that Valencia are a strong team, and you won't see Chelsea making mistakes in the match, I can assure you. But, whatever you might say about Chelsea playing unattractive football, they get the job done. They havn't suffered a loss since Anfield, and with Cech between the posts, Terry back in the defense, and Drogba in front, Valencia are really facing their toughest competitor yet. Not too mention that few in the squad are underperforming, and IMO, all of the transfers have started to pick up the pace, if they haven't already. So really, Valencia is facing a Chelsea in its strongest moment this season, and for a team that in my eyes hold no surprises and several bans for the coming match, it just doesn't look like they will be able to handle Chelsea.

English clubs have a history of bombing out at this point, especially since its near easter, where the prem likes to have teams play 100 games at once, the fixture pileup could cost chelsea this tie, i think they will lose this one

The first game is at home which sucks. I think they'd be better off if they had an away game the 1st time because they're going to be fatigued for the first game and it'd be better to play that one away and get an away goal or a 0-0 result and then play home in the second fixture.

Lonestarr is right and thats waht worries me, we are still fingitng for the prem, fa cup and c.l, and our squad isnt even that big and we have injury to Joe Cole. This fixture congestion can take alot of from a persons body. The time Chelsea have to rest is the only concern and thats also Mourinhos concern because Valencia will have like a week + to get ready for this game while Chelsea will have 2 games. But it is possible the Chelsea trainers have to be on top of thier game for this upcoming stretch and i think they will be, I think Chelsea can fight through and win but the fixtures is huge factor.

I'd still rather be fighting in 4 competitions than none at all though.

So there are a lot of games to be played, that we know. There is a plus side to all those games too though, and its this, due to the amount of games to be played and how close to each other those games can be, then this gives a team a fantastic opportunity to gell as a team, to get used to each other. So a tight match schedule has its positive side also.

A team only gets the togetherness and understanding of each other that it needs by playing games together. Then surely, if the squads are handled properly then a lot of games over a season can only be beneficial.

It's because Valencia plays in the best league in the world. The best league is not determined by the upper class teams, but by the middle class teams, e.g. Osasuna, Celta, Espanyol, Atletico, etc. Which some are doing well in the league, others were/are doing well in the UEFA Cup. You don't see the same thing happening in England or Italy for example, although Serie A is a joke now.

22-03-2007, 10:41:PM
yeah because tottenham, bolton, blackburn, everton are so bad..

-William-
23-03-2007, 01:28:AM
Well...let's see, Tottenham I see them almost at the level of Sevilla, yet they don't seem to be doing extremely well in their league. Blackburn might be doing well, but yet they aren't in UEFA anymore are they? Then, Bolton and Everton are both in good positions, but it'll almost be impossible for them to qualify for Champions League. In the contrary the fight for the last spot for CL in La Liga is being fought by: Valencia, Zaragoza, and Atletico. And note that Valencia are still in the Champions League. That's all without even mentioning the teams fighting for the two spots for the UEFA cup.

Lonestarr022

In La Liga, the mid table clubs do beat the top clubs from time to time, Man Utd and Chelsea dont drop games to the mid table clubs, that can be looked at as either the mid level clubs in la liga are better or that the tope clubs inm england are better.

Couldn't you argue that the best teams in England are simply better than those of Spain?

-William-
23-03-2007, 05:27:PM
But if that was the case then the league is less competitive, and that's exactly my point. The more competitive the league the better, of course the level of play and quality of the players is also taken into account. So taking into account these factors, and comparing them to the other "best" leagues in the world, the Spanish league wins since it's much more competitive.

Azrael
23-03-2007, 11:55:PM
IMO, it goes (in terms of how competitive it is:

Bundesliga
Premiership
La Liga
Calcio

Out of the best ones. Although the best teams in La Liga and Premiership are probably better, the german league is nigh unpredictable, and there are about 10 teams fighting with relegation, and 5 or 6 fighting for the top spots.

-William-
25-03-2007, 06:25:PM
ok..but why is the Premiership more competitive than La Liga right now?

Help?
25-03-2007, 06:47:PM
Yeah, i'd say, EPL has the better teams overall out of the 4, but Spanish league is definietly more unpredictable than EPL.

Yeh we get that here in England I dont necessarily agree but La Liga is more competitive with more teams in the title race. Even though people have written of MAdrid they are still in with a chance. La Liga is frustrating to watch with the fussy referees and diving and lack of atmosphere. Premiership is better. I even prefer Serie A too.

Agree with that very much but lack of atmosphere? Not really, maybe it's your feed your watching it from. I know Gol tv down's the crowd volume which sucks and makes it sound like crap. It's hard to watch some premiership teams, its just like kick the ball and run or who is the better thug. Were as in Spain even small teams like Recre, or Nastic, or Racing, or etc can play some nice football. Serie A is so bad it's not even worth it talking about it, makes me  everytime apart from when Roma plays.
