It definately seems that FIFA2001 is an absolute flop and yet another disaster for the EA FIFA series.
I do hope they actually pay attention to these posts and try and give the fans what they want.
Hey EA?? Look at a little company called Sports Interactive. They have quite a nifty little game called Championship Manager. that is the kind of quality you should be presenting to us in FIFA
Apart from the obvious business advantage of just making a few improvements every year as supposed to vast improvements every 2-4 years as the series does sell quite well every year, EA would not include all our corrections also because, they feel its the "kids" more often than not play the likes of FIFA2001 due to its arcade like element therefore they are less critical,, and wouldn't demand perfection, alson nothing much to challenge them there best competitor existing on a dying console, at least till the dolphin is released, they call the shots.
The likes of championship manager, are for the older kids and adults, as that sector is more intellectually challenged, and wouldn't hold a long attentionspan for FIFA, just as the kids, but also, are far more critical, besides, its impossible to make a decent football managment without putting in some decent effort, and with the competition around, not to mention how popular it is especially with the guys who earn the cash as well as their kids who spend the cash, this is why.
But I must stress though, it is purely a buisness decesion, at the moment, its working well, don't need to include everything now, because just with a little bit more, people willa lways bye. They could easily make a super game, allow you to download stadiums if you have space, or release it in a two or three CD pack, and depending on your system resources, download exra stadiums etc and more extensive commentary, make multiplayer season mode, with several leagues as well, have all cups and competions including the likes of the intertoto cup, no hitches like having two teams from the same country in the same group of phase 1 and 2 of the champions league which never happens, little things like making controls more eratic in different weather situations, refrees show two yellow cards if thats the booking, the list is almost endless despite what they already have, they good then send team updates as patches bi-annually for PC owners and then release the game every 2-4 years, when they have a sufficient enough in IMPROVEMENT ON THE GAMES AI ENGINE, and develope more realistic graphics and animations and commenatries. BUT WHY DO THAT WHEN YOU COULD HAVE AT LEAST DOUBLED OR QUADRUPLED YOUR EARNINGS by releasing yearly, with just enough improvement to make the masses want more, and if you lose one year (like FIFA2000) just do a little bit more, and they would come back, only just don't put all your cards down, its a shame in my opinion, but it is a very sensible business plan and for EA its worked in the FIFA series, cause they've had much more competition with other sport games and Championship manager, so htey've had to be better...I could go on and into more detail, but I think you get the picture

Why do EA have to improve Fifa when the fans buy it no matter what? Heck some of the fans are so loyal you mention something negative about Fifa and they'll insult you.
And if you don't want to buy Fifa 2001, and you have a PC what other soccer game can you buy? The answer - none. Fifa is number one on the PC not by merit, but by default.
I agree totally with what you are saying guys, people out there buy Fifa no matter what, I think simply due to the fact there is a lack of competition. There are several management games out there but how many are there which concentrate purely on the art of playing football, not many.
Its unfortunate but EA are using this to their advantage, doesnt matter on how good or bad the Fifa product is people will always buy it. A win for EA YES, a win for the overall consumer NO!!!!
Don't be TOO hard on EA, I don't doubt that they ARE trying to make a better game. Their problem is that they have no reason to make these attempts exceptional. They aren't afraid of any other companies making games which could compete, so they try and improve the game but are probably unaware of how much work really needs to be put into the series to significantly improve it, to make it faithful to the actual sport.
Don't get me wrong, they certainly deserve to be ridiculed to some extent. They haven't yet made a game which plays or feels like football and consistently churn out these products with elbow "tackles" and sound effects like something from a kung fu movie. I'm not buying FIFA 2001. They improve upon NHL and Madden, but they just don't do it with FIFA. I'm disappointed.
