Hi,

I'm fairly new to the FIFA 07 scene, so forgive me if this is an old question.

Whats the best way to keep a career running and also edit the game (players, stadiums, kits etc) at the same time.

I appreciate the new edits will not appear in the career until you start a new career - but whenever I change the smallest thing using CM07, I lose all my career data. I just want to be able to keep everything up to date, whilst also playing a career.

Thanks for any help!

Paul

It's a choice, I started my Fifa06 career (and still busy) when I was done editting that game and started updating Fifa07, there are way too much things that are going to break down your career, so it's play career now and edit later or play career next year :)

Of course you can install two instances of Fifa, work with different versions of the fifa.db to be able to play career, online, for editting but then it's work and no longer a game imo.

Not an easy thing to do, I'm afraid, but your best bet is probably to take copies of the FIFA.DB and ENG.DB files as installed and then restore them when you'd like to play manager mode games (taking backups of your edited files too, obviously). You'll lose player edits, and some of your other changes may not appear in your career, but given the interconnections between the manager mode data and FIFA.DB it is difficult to do anything else.

So...you guys mean that in a career I cannot change boots to I player I have bought? Not even with UniDB?

I'm not familiar with the inner workings of that tool, but even an apparently minor change can mess up the connections between saved data files and FIFA.DB to the extent that the game will crash. It ought to be possible to change things like boots, faces, and so on without changing the shape of the database, but there are no guarantees.

Just make sure that you keep plenty of backups so that you can revert to the last working database

You can change the boots in unidb, but they will not appear in any current career. You will see them if you start a new one. One thing to do is use unidb and find his boot number and update the fsh file in the zdata for that boot and that will change it for your career.
