View Full Version : EA Should make additional gameplay enhancements
KaseyKeller 24-10-2000, 01:39:AM In the FAQ they state that players will stay in their zones better. This may be a good feature but players often leave their zones to help out teammates or attack. This has been one of my major issues with FIFA. Players such as Roberto Carlos and Cafu have remained glued to their postitions, wasting their attacking talents in the defensive end of the field. EA should enable them to make runs into the offensive zone as well. Also they should allow us to bring our big defenders into the box for corners. The only way to do this now is go into the management and sub them into a forward position. EA may think they are improving gameplay by making players stay in position, but they are also eliminating many tactical elements.
Fedeline 24-10-2000, 01:49:AM ACtually kasey defenders do come up for corner kicks for when i play with milan and cycle through the different set plays sometimes i will see one of my back men running in the box and in fact they sometimes score
KaseyKeller 24-10-2000, 01:56:AM Usually it depends on what formation you are using and who is taking the corner. I have also had a defender come up once in awhile but they should be doing it almost every time, especially when a goal is needed. When you watch an actual soccer match you always see the same defenders coming up into the box usually because they are more skilled on headers. EA should try to mimic these kind of tactics.
Fedeline 24-10-2000, 02:04:AM yeah they do need to put more into the game then they do and then they might get more customers, but just like every other non-soccer enthusiast they will only put effort or money in the sport if they get lots of money in the begining.
They don't realize in order get that money and support they have to be the ones that start the ball rolling - in other words "you have to spend money to make money" and i know they are capable of making a better game for look how much effort and graphic, etc. they put into NHL, NBA, etc.
KaseyKeller 24-10-2000, 02:11:AM I'll agree with that. They put even more effort into their Madden NFL series. They have a franchise mode that includes, signing players, free-agents, players retire and a draft of newly created players. If you play with the same team players get better or worse depending on their age. Older players who suffer severe injuries might actually retire. Imagine the possibilities if they put this much effor into the FIFA series.
Although in EA's FIFA is dealing with a much larger theatre which im sure limits some of the enhancments.
Fedeline 24-10-2000, 02:19:AM yeah exactly, see i never even knew what they had in that game for i am a true FOOTIE fan and don't wonder to garbage sports.
But with that last point it is so true that they have a larger feild to deal with like more teams, more forums (world cup, champions league) but we live in a computer advanced society here there are ways to make it better it just cost more and they figure that unless just, if not more people buy FIFA compared to those who buy NFL then they average out the cost and have it match the sales to determine what goes in the game rather than just givning into what the people want.
And i admit there are somethings some people say is good and others say is bad but like this topic THE GAME PLAY has always needed to be more realistic and everyone agrees on that.
neotopace 24-10-2000, 05:36:PM Hello guys. I am a big fan of FIFA series since it first came out in 94. Truly, FIFA series gotten more stupider as the time goes on. I just played PC version of FIFA2001, luckly, and I amreally sick of this 'Handball' score with gameplay consists of only cheesy tricks. I could beat any players with Kruyff turns since FIFA99 came out. It's so sick that try not to do such tricks in normal gameplays. Midfield? It does not even exist in this kind of game. You push your forwards for 60 min and sub them. To be honest, as a big fan of the series, this is disgusting. My expection I had on FIFA2001 due to their awesome gameplay-enhancement job on EURO2000 has just squished. If EA had put FIFA 1/10 of what they worked on NHL and NBA Live gameplay, FIFA would had been the 'best' soccer game series out there. Every goal in 3 miniutes is just retarded, and I cannot take it anymore. EA better realize that three wasted series are enough.
CANADIAN 24-10-2000, 05:41:PM we should have this feature in our team management, i mean if i want roberto carlos to sneak in to the right wing an make crosses i should be able to set that. just like in fifa 98.
KaseyKeller 24-10-2000, 05:41:PM so its the same old unrealistic FIFA huh? Dont they understand that we dont want to score 80 goals a game when playing with 45 minute halfs. It takes away from the fun and exceitment. Heres a suggestion for EA. MAny of their games contain an "Arcade" and "Simulation" mode. why not do this for FIFA. give us a simulation mode that matches the gameplay and tactics of real life.
KaseyKeller 24-10-2000, 05:43:PM I agree canadian...Im sick of having to put players like Roberto Carlos in midfield. IF you do you are losing out on his defending skills but if you do you are losing his attacking skills.
KaseyKeller 25-10-2000, 06:15:AM Heres another suggestion for EA. Ever heard of missed penalties? I think everyone remembers Baggio's miss in the world cup. Why not make this a feature as well. I think in all my time playing fifa2000 i only missed 1 (not counting saves) the shot hit the crossbar and bounced straight down but never made it over the line. there should be some sort of accuracy factor that comes into play when taking penalties. In the current system anybody on your team can take them and score with ease. The players with higher skill should be rewarded more in areas such as this.
