View Full Version : Leagues in FIFA 08?
Mattwinter 13-06-2007, 09:56:AM EA have said there will be 30 leagues in FIFA 08, but which new ones will be there?
Wikipedia says the A-leauge is in, which would be superb :bob:, but there's no confirmation - mind you they have a lot of people working on databases etc. so you would think they would know. I remember that wikipedia had the new leagues for FIFA 07 before they were officially announced (and wikipedia was correct) so I think it looks like the A-league is in. Wikipedia also mentions the Irish league will be included.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIFA_08
Any other info on what will be included?
bruno167 13-06-2007, 10:04:AM I would like to know that.
I hope there will be decent leagues and not some 3rd division for some leagues.
Argentina,Greece,Russia and Romania would be great:)
Generic Oval 13-06-2007, 01:05:PM Australian and Irish League???
Sounds very strange, I think...
The Austrailian is... okay.
but the IRISH LEAGUE???:nape:
EDIT: I found a serious source about the Irish League in FIFA08 http://www.eircomloi.ie/news_item_119.htm
I Think it's very realistic now that the Irish teams are included in the new FIFA.
apollox 13-06-2007, 01:45:PM I have for a long time heard, that the Leagues from Hungary and Romania are new in FIFA08
Mr Swiss 13-06-2007, 06:48:PM who cares about those leagues? ....what about ARGENTINIAN LEAGUES?
fifaCCitiu.com 13-06-2007, 07:32:PM czech league or greece i have heard , and irish e australian sure
mrliioadin 13-06-2007, 07:57:PM Mean no offense of course but I love when people just call it the A league or premier league. there are probably hundreds on the planet by both names.:funny:

maybe they'll announce the swiss league as a new one again like they did last year.
MrVee 14-06-2007, 12:57:AM I'd like to see them add the Conference to really make Manager Mode interesting.
The "Be a Pro" thing mentioned always struck me as an interesting idea, but I suppose it depends on how well it's implemented. The computer AI really has to be good for it to work well. In the NBA Lives it's a recipe for total dominance even at the highest difficulty levels.

Please not, there are more than enough English leagues.
I think it's more important to have teams like CSKA Moscow or Kiew ingame instead of teams like Gribblewinkly Town or Sniddlecastle Rovers...

FIRMED...
620 licensed teams, some new addition in ROTW and National? (90 new teams) -12 Irish teams +44 at most 2 new leagues = 34 new teams... Hope a few more from Eastern Europe... :)
SnoopStyle_1968 14-06-2007, 10:10:AM Irish :D Maybie the other two leagues will be Argentinian and Russian :)
Biebrich 02 14-06-2007, 03:40:PM Irish :D Maybie the other two leagues will be Argentinian and Russian :)
you should finally accept that there won't be argentinian league in 08, as well as it won't be in 09. for the same reason there won't be dutch national team. russian league would be very nice but i think if ea got the license for that they would have included it long ago.
Nevertheless i agree that ea should include some more eastern european teams. Irish and australian! what a nonsense! What's the third? Wales? Northern Ireland? Finland?
Keegan 14-06-2007, 04:08:PM On behalf of all Gribblewinkly Town fans, I object to being compared to Sniddlecastle Rovers. Sniddlecastle is a crap team, and only beat us in the derby last year because our inspirational captain and top goalscorer Will Jarman was out injured. Come on you Gribblewinklers! :ewan:
bacchus99 14-06-2007, 04:34:PM I dont think any league is a nonsense, I have respect for all football cultures, they all interest me, not every club has a billion to spend and anyway smaller leagues are more interesting these days because the big leagues are now monopolies.

Australian A-League nonsense???? :O :O
You must be joking. Last season the average crowd attendance for A-League games was almost the same as the EPL average. And I wouldnt go knocking Australian soccer either after last time we met England we won 3-1. The A-League is worthy enough of being in FIFA-08. Cant wait for it.
Besides.... FIFA should include more than just Europe. Football is the world game so lets see the world playing it... not just Europe.
Biebrich 02 14-06-2007, 05:34:PM If I'd live in australia, i'd go there too. Where else should i go to?
It's a world game indeed. But what's the use of an australian league if you can't play the asian champions league? maybe i'm wrong and they include 30 rest of asia teams but the way fifa07 is (unpatched) you can only play the leagues of france, germany, england, italy and spain because you've got second leagues for these countries (i want to feel at least the danger of relegation) and an almost sufficient choice of opponents for european cups (eastern europe is missing but that was exactly my point when i said it's nonsense to add australia).
(What has a 2003 national team match to do with the decision if the a-league should be included or not?)

The crowd average isn't that high - but it's a lot better than many of the leagues already in fifa. The fifa series has always sold well in Australia, and EA knows that putting the A-league in is a smart decision, at least financially.
The league is quality - honestly, my routine on Saturdays is to get up, watch the Friday night Coca-Cola Championship game and then watch A-league later in the day - the A-league is better, faster and more exciting. That would explain why Nick Ward went from the bench at Perth to being always in the starting lineup for QPR.
A-league has a lot more potential too, it is growing very fast here.
It would be nice if the Asian Champions league was there too, but the vast majority of games each season are in the league, so it's not as if you need the ACL to make the league interesting.
Sure, the Argentine league would be nice, but obviously that isn't going to happen - EA, for some reason, can't include it.
rsl2000 15-06-2007, 08:43:AM I was most interested on which platforms it will be made available. It lists everything but the xbox. That sucks. Fifa is really the only game I play and I don't want to buy the 360 fo 1 game.
Mean no offense of course but I love when people just call it the A league or premier league. there are probably hundreds on the planet by both names.:funny:
I think you misunderstood the term 'A-League'. It is the name of the Australian league. The A doesnt mean 'First', but Australia. It's how loads of the major Asian Confederation nations name their league.
eg. K-League for Korea, J-League for Japan etc
Google "A league" or "A-League" and see what comes up ;)
I understand why you could get annoyed at Premier League, but it is no worse (actually probably more specific, since it was a break away tournament originally, with that specific name) than "La Liga" in spain, which just means The League, or Serie A which of course just means A Series...It's just that Spanish and Italian are much less used languages, so they get away with it...But at the end of the day, 99% of Football fans, know La Liga: Espaņol Primera Liga. They know Serie A: Italiano Serie A, and the Premiership, or Premier League: The English Premier League/Premiership..
Where as 'La Liga' could be ANY league (most likely a spanish speaking country tho ;) ) , Premier League could easily be the Scottish Premier League etc, at a Football forum, Im sure everyone knows what we're talking about...
And with A-League, I would like you to find another country in the world that uses this term for their league
juank 15-06-2007, 09:58:PM Australian league and ireland league will be in fifa 08 !!

the american's did have the "A-league" for a while back in the 90s, but your point is still valid.
