I was wanting to buy FIFA 2001 and was wondering if the internet play is good. Is there bad lag etc. I played the demo and liked it i just hope that the on-line play is playable.

View Full Version : Is FIFA 2001 internet play good? K-MAN 02-12-2000, 08:50:PM I was wanting to buy FIFA 2001 and was wondering if the internet play is good. Is there bad lag etc. I played the demo and liked it i just hope that the on-line play is playable. JJ 02-12-2000, 08:54:PM Multiplayer Matchup suxx in that you can only select certain leagues or certain international teams - also it sometimes doesn't work (maybe the new FIFA 2001 update fixes it???) DirectIP is supposed to be better if you can get it to work! I think EA have messed up the online play feature... Cowboy 02-12-2000, 09:19:PM If you use 56 k modem you will get a lot of lagg (i got it). I think the most of the people would recommend ADSL or something like that for good multiplayer performance. When i bought the game, i looked on the back of the game cartridge and it looked like this: You will need atleast a 56 k modem to play over internet...and i bought the game (not just because of the internet support but part of it. I was very pleased with the singel player mode. (expect a few things, actually some very annoying things...refeering and volley kicks...etc..etc..) Anyway i ws very disappointed when i tried the multiplayer future (booth matchmaker and direct ip). Why does EA write "atleast 56 k modem when its not playable at all ! Ok...i know why..they wanna sell so many copies as possible. I mean..its not nice doing like that. Im not trying to say that i hate EA SPORTS because of this, i actually like them. They make good games but dont f****n write "atleast 56 k modem when 56 k modem is UNPLAYABLE. I think they should write like this..."atleast ISDN...RECOMMENDED ADSL. How would my mulitplayer game look like on a: pentium 166 32 meg ram 2 mb grafic card cd-4 speed MODEM 56 k. <<<<<<<< WARNING ! LAGG ALERT ! ??? i dont use this configuration but i was just thinkin. (I use a p 2 450 mhz, 128 meg ram, 32 meg nVIDIA riva tnt 2 grafic card. Anyone agree with me ? Anyone agains me ? FIFA 2001-the coolest soccer game ever made-expect EURO 2000. JJ 02-12-2000, 10:02:PM I know - EA have always put a recommended specification which if you have the low spec, could never play the game properly... Listen to this - they recommend the lowest processor as a 166MHz! My arse! I have a 350MHz in mine (for now - until I upgrade), and I get really jerky action... Just goes to show that EA couldn't give a **** - again! JanerAli 02-12-2000, 10:12:PM i have isdn and found it jerky the match up is a joke, but at least they tried,i mean its a step in the right direction meat means murder K-MAN 04-12-2000, 05:45:AM Thanks for you input. I'm kinda sad that the internet play doesn't sound good http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif SCTW 04-12-2000, 08:09:AM Here is my experience with FIFA's ONLINE PLAY: On my street there are four people who own FIFA 2001 and have cable modem (including myself) I have Celeron 433 128 MB RAM (and cable modem as mentioned above) DirectX 7, WinME When I played my friend Rob who lives 30 house down from me (who has a Pentium 700 128 MB RAM, DirectX 7 and WinME) FIFA 2001 is playable with a wee bit of lag once a while, nonetheless it is still playable. When I played my friend Mark who lives across the street from me (who has a Cyrix 233 64MB RAM WinME and DirectX 7) FIFA 2001 is playable but lots of lag. It is playable but not enojoyable so i choose not to play with him. When I played my friend Phil who lives across the street from me (who has a Pentium 300 64MB RAM WinME and DirectX 8) FIFA 2001 is very playable with NO lag. It is playable and enojoyable. I think it as something to do with DirectX 8. SCTW www.fifa2002.gq.nu (http://www.fifa2002.gq.nu) |
