History:
The first 100 years of Bayern Munich's history - and its success story - begin and end with the name Franz. Is it just a coincidence that the leader of the eleven spirited rebels who met to form FC Bayern in the Gisela Restaurant in Munich on the night of 27th February 1900, was a certain Franz John? Or that it was a Franz who masterminded the split from MTV 1879, the original club, which had suppressed every attempt by the footballers at independence? Is it only chance that exactly a century later, another Franz, this time Beckenbauer, would lead Bayern Munich, now an experienced and visionary club with countless titles to its name, into the new millennium as its president?
Much time and many other differences separate now from then. Franz John co-founded and built Bayern up from nothing and was delighted with relatively modest results, like Bayern's 7-1 victory in their first match against their former team, MTV 1879. But John also gave this 'cavalier' club its first individual touch.
In the early days, people recognised Bayern, then known as Schwabinger Bayern, by the players' straw hats. In his turn, Franz Beckenbauer would help make Bayern Munich what it is today: an international club with millions of fans, an institution reaching way beyond German football.
Not in his wildest dreams could Franz John have imagined that future, or that his team would one day be German champions, European Cup Champions and even World Club Championship winners. Nor could he have imagined that nearly a century later, on a mild spring day in 1999, Beckenbauer would meet the world's leading heads of state, and no less than the British prime minister, Tony Blair, would whisper to him that he was the most famous person there.
Clearly something incredible happened in the 100 years between Franz and Franz.
Bayern opened the new millennium in spectacular fashion, claiming the Champions League, the domestic championship, the World Club Cup and the German Cup in quick succession.
Bayern ended the old millennium on a low note with the devastating defeat to Manchester United in the 1999 Champions League final, but the team built around Oliver Kahn, Stefan Effenberg and Giovane Elber swiftly set about making amends in the new century.
Long-standing rivals Real Madrid felt the effects of Bayern's determination early in the year 2000 as the Reds put no less than eight goals past the Spanish giants in the space of eight days, winning 4-2 at the Bernabeu and 4-1 at home. The sides met again in the semi-finals, but this time Real took revenge, winning the tie with a 2-0 success at home and a crucial away goal in Munich's 2-1 win at the Olympic Stadium.
Ottmar Hitzfeld's men still collected silverware that season, entering the last week of the Bundesliga campaign neck-and-neck with Bayer Leverkusen. The Rhineland outfit fell to a shock defeat against relegated Unterhaching, allowing Bayern to pip them to the title. A week later, the Reds took revenge for the previous year's German Cup final defeat to Werder Bremen with a 3-0 win against the same opponents in the Berlin showpiece, sealing the third league and cup double in the club's history. Oliver Kahn was named German Player of the Year 1999-2000.
There was even better to come in 2000-2001. The omens were not good after an early German Cup exit to unfancied Magdeburg, but after 34 Bundesliga matches, Bayern again finished top of the standings. And again the glory was earned in dramatic fashion as Patrik Andersson blasted a stoppage-time equaliser in Hamburg with almost the last kick of the last match, snatching the title from rivals Schalke 04, whose game had already finished. The Schalke fans had celebrated - for just four minutes.
Brimming with confidence after the knife-edge finale, the Reds travelled to Milan on 23 May 2001 for the Champions League final against Valencia. Bayern had been on a European revenge mission all season, knocking out Manchester United in the quarter-finals and then seeing off Madrid with a 1-0 away win and a 2-1 success at home. Olli Kahn was the hero of that unforgettable night in Milan, saving three penalties in the shoot-out after the match had finished 1-1 after extra time to seal Munich's fourth European Champions Cup title, a quarter of a century after a the previous success.

Miroslav Klose completes Bayern switch
http://www.fcbayern.t-com.de/media/images/sonstiges_06_07/200/klose_ima_060607.jpg
26.06.2007
Three days before the senior squad officially reports back to the club ahead of the 2007-8 campaign, Bayern have concluded their busy summer spending spree with the signing of Germany striker Miroslav Klose from Bundesliga rivals Werder Bremen. The goal-getter completes an eight-strong roster of new arrivals also comprising Luca Toni, Franck Ribery, Zé Roberto, Jose Ernesto Sosa, Marcell Jansen, Jan Schlaudraff and Hamit Altintop.
The 29-year-old Klose is due in Munich on Thursday for a medical and will subsequently ink a four-year deal binding him to the Bavarians until 30 June 2011. The centre-forward, top scorer at last summer’s World Cup and German Player of the Year 2006, intends to be present on Friday at 10 am when the country’s most successful club commences pre-season training.
“We’ve arrived at a fair solution for both sides,” Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented. The deal was struck in a “productive conversation” between Bayern hoard directors Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß, and Werder joint managing directors Klaus Allofs and Manfred Müller. Both parties agreed not to disclose the fee for the player capped 69 times by his country, who still had a year to run on his contract in Bremen.

€12M now, another €3M depending on success.
Now let's find a good club for Makaay.
Reikko 26-06-2007, 06:54:PM I'm awainting to see what Poldi will do this year ... I'm really especting very much from him...
And for Makaay? We should sell him ... his old, his leazy now and he tires very quick at this age
BayernFan01 26-06-2007, 07:36:PM I'm happy we finalized the Klose deal so early into the summer. I thought Bremen would haggle us for the price and make it a living hell to sign him. We're done now in the transfer market and i cant wait for next season.
dread 26-06-2007, 07:38:PM I've never thought that Bayern could ever be that active on the transfer window,we got all the fish out there.
Pizarro14 26-06-2007, 08:01:PM it's unbelievable how Bayern can manage to keep RSC still after every year he is either injured or playin like crap every game for the past couple of years now. I can't wait to see the Klose-Toni/Podolski up front. Ze Roberto I think will manage to win a starting job early in the season....
treble41 26-06-2007, 08:43:PM Yep, some competition for team spots, finally.
Welcome Klose!
Good-bye Makaay... sad to see you go.
Vedran-10 26-06-2007, 09:27:PM Good luck this season. I hope you'll take the league back.
yoyo913 26-06-2007, 09:56:PM Wow, look at those transfers.
Btw In FM Jansen would always become the 2nd best LB in the world. Behind Chiellini :(.
BayernBoz 26-06-2007, 10:07:PM if anyone is interested....
I'm selling a jersey on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/FC-Bayern-Munich-adidas-home-jersey-2005-06-size-US-XL_W0QQitemZ130128721145QQihZ003QQcategoryZ2914QQs sPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)

BayernBoz 26-06-2007, 10:20:PM I bet you don't have one with the Bundesliga Patch.;)
Nimreitz 26-06-2007, 10:31:PM Sweet, Klose is now with us. I would love to see Makaay at PSV, let's get him there. He should get some good playing time and success there, and he deserves both.
BayernBoz 26-06-2007, 11:16:PM Hellzzzz Yea.
Azrael 26-06-2007, 11:26:PM Wow, great transfers. I never imagined seeing the great Germany 2006 pair in an actual team. One question, wasn't Ze Roberto already in the club?
F4rrukh 26-06-2007, 11:47:PM Klose has been confirmed as well for you guys. Congrats! you have made and are making very good signings, looks like a much stronger side now. What i want to ask is if you guys are still in the Champions League for next season?

No we'll play in the Uefa cup,btw who is our first opponent in the bundesliga.
Hendrik 27-06-2007, 12:33:AM No we'll play in the Uefa cup,btw who is our first opponent in the bundesliga.
The schedule will be released in the next couple of days.
One question, wasn't Ze Roberto already in the club?
Yes, from 2002 to 2006. They brought him back to be the link between the new faces and the old squad. Both sides underestimated the departure last year. Schweinsteiger failed to fill Ze's shoes, Ze's family got "homesick" in Brazil and missed the safer environment of Germany.
it's unbelievable how Bayern can manage to keep RSC still after every year he is either injured or playin like crap every game for the past couple of years now.
He can leave if he finds a club willing to pay €4M. There's no reason to let him go for nothing. He wouldn't get the same money at Spanish midtable clubs so he isn't rushing to get out of here lol.
paolo-fcb 27-06-2007, 03:18:AM GRÜßT FC BAYERN!!!!!

dread 27-06-2007, 11:45:PM Official kit number for Klose?Maybe when Makaay leave he'll take 10.
treble41 27-06-2007, 11:46:PM Nah, won't have the focus for UEFA cup. Plus eight new guys in the squad is gonna take some gellin time.
Hendrik 28-06-2007, 02:23:AM We came out forth so we are.
Yep, we will face Bremen in the semis. (H)
Official kit number for Klose?Maybe when Makaay leave he'll take 10.
It looks like Makaay will be unveiled at Feynoord in the next couple of hours so yeah, #10 for Klose.
SlayerDeuS 28-06-2007, 01:50:PM what's the starting lining up going to look like? i'm not familiar with their formation so i wouldn't really know where to begin besides their usual mainstays.

----------------- Kahn
RB -------- Lucio ------ CB ---------- LB
---- van Bommel -- Ze Roberto
RM -------------------------------- Ribery
--------- Toni -------- Klose
GK: Rensing will play all German Cup games and some Bundesliga matches
Fullbacks: Sagnol, Lahm and Jansen will rotate.
CB: Lucio is the leader in defense. Then there's van Buyten, Ismael and Demichelis who could play alongside him. Demichelis is rumored to be Hitzfeld's first choice.
CM: van Bommel and Ze are the clear starters. Altintop, Ottl and Demichelis are the backups.
RM and LM: Ribery will play on the left flank. Sosa probably on the right, depends how he adapts. Schweinsteiger, Jansen, Altintop and Schlaudraff will share the rest of the playing time.
FW: Podolski is the third striker in the pecking order. Then Santa Cruz and Schlaudraff.

Makaay agrees move to Feyenoord

Roy Makaay’s penalty to open the scoring on 12 May in Cottbus has taken on historic dimensions as the 32-year-old’s final competitive goal in a Bayern shirt. After four prolific seasons, Makaay is returning to his country of birth and the centre-forward slot at Rotterdam giants Feyenoord.
The terms of the transfer were agreed between the clubs on Wednesday evening. Makaay, contracted to Bayern until 30 June 2008, passed a medical in Rotterdam on Thursday before his unveiling to the local press and supporters.
“On behalf of Bayern Munich football club, I’d like to offer heartfelt thanks to Roy Makaay for four successful years. He has been a very important player for Bayern Munich. He’s expressed a wish to return to his home country, and we wish him and his family all the very best for their future there,” commented Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Makaay’s official farewell from Munich will take place on 15 August ahead of the Mehmet Scholl testimonial between Bayern and Barcelona.

Pizarro14 28-06-2007, 04:27:PM Goodbye Royyyyyyyyyyyyy Makaayyyyyy (i remember when i would celebrate his goals after he scored for Bayern lol). Thanks for 4 great years....I'm gonna miss his celebration (like in the picture vince put). I don't really dislike players but Santa Crap takes the cake. How can dis below average player still be in a big club like Bayern. He's sooo useless and a waste of space.
Deisler 28-06-2007, 06:57:PM Thank you Roy and good luck in Roterdam. I am sure he will continue to pe a prolific striker till his last game.
Legend.
treble41 28-06-2007, 06:59:PM I'm glad that we got the most possible use out of Makaay and sold him at the right time. Thing is though that Feynoord used to be an awesome club but they've been rubbish of late. Feyenoord, PSV, and Ajax were the three big Dutch clubs but AZ Alkmaar sort of replaced Feyenoord.
Anyways, Shlaudraff has to be ahead of Santa Cruz in the striking order. I'm hoping for some exhibitions so that some of these guys can win their spots. Anyways, are we playing any friendlies and are they on telly before the season begins?
BayernBoz 29-06-2007, 02:16:AM Santa Cruz just scored a hat-trick for Paraguay.

paolo-fcb 29-06-2007, 05:33:AM I'm very sad losing Roy, I liked him very much, he always smiles during the interviews, during a match, after a goal, I miss you ROY.:nape:
The staring lineup 4 me could be this, except other bad surprises.....
KAHN
LAHM(SAGNOL)-LUCIO-V.BUYTEN-JANSEN(LAHM)
VAN BOMMEL-ZE ROBERTO
RIBERY(SOSA)-SCHWEINI(RIBERY)
TONI-KLOSE
Then we have Rensing, Ismael, Micho, Ottl, Hamit, Poldi, Schlaudraff, Roque (?) and the youngs. Great team ok but with all these new players are we sure that everything will works fine?:$
Klobb 29-06-2007, 06:11:AM When is the scholl testimonial?
treble41 29-06-2007, 06:57:AM Santa scoring a hat trick, I'm not complaining.
BayernBoz 29-06-2007, 08:11:AM i guess he listened and proved me wrong. lol

___________
Open letter from Roy Makaay:
To Bayern fans everywhere,
It's been a busy last few days, so I wanted to take this opportunity to bid you farewell for now. After four years in Munich, I'm leaving Bayern and returning to the Netherlands, where I'm joining Feyenoord in Rotterdam. I've had a fantastic and successful time in Munich, and experienced many wonderful things with Bayern. We've won the league and the Cup on two occasions apiece, and I can look back fondly on 102 goals, including the fastest goal in Champions League history.
But the time has come to say goodbye. The club has signed two first-class strikers in Miroslav Klose and Luca Toni, who will obviously be first-choice provided they're fit. Then you have a young German international, Lukas Podolski, who has both the desire and the requirement to make the breakthrough in his second season in Munich. No way am I moving on because I don't fancy the battle for a place, but the fact is I'd be left with the role of third or fourth choice striker.
However, I feel I'm in far too good shape for that. We strikers have to be playing regularly, so I asked the board at an early stage if they would release me in the event all the transfers came off. Bayern have behaved impeccably, and I'm very thankful to the club for that. Naturally, I could have moved within the Bundesliga, and there were offers on the table. But Bayern are very close to my heart nowadays, and I've had such good times here, that it wouldn't have been possible to play against the club in the league and cup.
So now my family and I are off to Rotterdam, where a new, major challenge awaits. Just like at Bayern, last season was not great for Feyenoord, who finished only seventh. I want to help this tradition-rich club celebrate their centenary next season with a return to former glory days. And my kids will live in the Netherlands for the first time, another reason why it was important for everything to be settled quickly and smoothly.
In the words of the song made famous by Franz Beckenbauer, you can't separate good friends. That certainly applies to me and Bayern Munich. I'll be back in Munich very frequently, and I'll drop by and visit the folk at the club. And at Mehmet Scholl's testimonial, I'll say a personal farewell to the crowd at the Allianz Arena. Once again, I'm extremely grateful to the club for making that possible.
Finally, I'd like to give all of you, the fans, deep and warm thanks for your loyalty and support over the years. Who knows? Perhaps we'll meet again when I'm at Feyenoord - preferably in the Champions' League!
Farewell, and see you soon

Nimreitz 03-07-2007, 11:18:AM I think Altintop might have the inside track to starting at DM for us next season. I think Match Day 1 will look like this
Kahn
Sagnol-Lucio-vBuyten-Lahm
Ribery-vBommel-Altintop-Schweini
Toni-Klose
Sosa, Poldi, Ze, Jansen, and Demichelis as cover. Looks fantastic. Still a little worried about that central midfield, but we would obviously be playing on the wings with the wingbacks swinging in crosses for the strikers, not building through the center. Van Bommel and Altintop can snuff out the attack of any team, and I think that's pretty much all we need from them.
Hendrik 03-07-2007, 12:04:PM Sagnol won't make it, he needs another two months until he returns to training. That means Lahm RB and Jansen LB.
Demichelis supposedly has the edge over van Buyten.
Ribery told them he wants to play in left midfield.
Ze Roberto was promised the starting spot alongside van Bommel for now.
The way I see it Altintop, Sosa and Schweinsteiger will be fighting it our for the right wing. Sosa needs some weeks to adjust, I see him as a sub in the first matches. If Altintop puts on more performances like this in preseason there's no way Schweinsteiger will start. I seriously doubt he's realized in what situation he's in right now. Some time on the bench won't hurt him.
Kroos might get the #10: :o
Reikko 03-07-2007, 03:33:PM I'm worried about Toni-Klose together...Bouth have the same style, no speed.
I would put Poldi like this:
----Podolski--
Toni-----Klose
or
Toni(Klose) - Podolski
I'm not feeling a slow and old attack....we really need some speed in our game...Would you imagine a counter-attack with Toni and Klose? :-puke:
Deisler 03-07-2007, 03:39:PM Would you imagine a counter-attack with Toni and Klose? :-puke:
YES especially knowing that it will be fed by a guy called Ribery
Hendrik 03-07-2007, 04:10:PM Klose is not the one dimensional striker he used to be before he joined Bremen. You'll often see him in midfield with the ball at his feet looking to feed the actual target man. He doesn't even score that many headers anymore, his style has totally changed.
He's quite pacey but I doubt we'll see too much counter attacking football.

I won't believe this about Schweini until I see it. He's a sure fire German International, from our youth system, and like 24 years old. Plus, if he is being made the scapegoat for last season, maybe the club should think again.
Javyol 04-07-2007, 07:50:AM Why the hell is Luca Toni playing for a German club :nape::rolleyes:
Well he had respect for Fiorentina, his previous club, and did not want to play against them.
Hendrik 04-07-2007, 04:40:PM I won't believe this about Schweini until I see it. He's a sure fire German International, from our youth system, and like 24 years old. Plus, if he is being made the scapegoat for last season, maybe the club should think again.
I said he will get treated like everyone else in the team. The one that performs the best will play no matter if it's a 23 year old German International or a 22 year old Argentine prospect.
He's not the only scapegoat for last seasons disaster, but one of the very few who are left. Everyone wants the best for him because of the reasons you stated. He turns 23 next month, has he made any progress since he entered this stage as a 19 year old easygoing boy? No. Last year they didn't keep Ze Roberto so that Schweini could take the next step. Well, he failed. Without much competition for his spot he never looked like he was willing to break sweat for the team.
Not to mention the developments concerning his life off the field. At the time he had to work for his comeback he posed with his new model girlfriend for the tabloids and gladly gave interviews yet he didn't even know what exactly was wrong with his knee. It seemed everyone was more worried about his injury than he was.
He got detached from reality and the club, mainly Hoeness, is trying to bring him back to earth. He wanted the #7 jersey, Hoeness gave it to Ribery. Schweini prefers the position in left midfielder, Hoeness publicly states that's going to be Ribery's position in the next couple of years. Some more quotes:
"He has to wake up already. He finally has to realize the summer-fairytale of 2006 is over."
If he doesn't cut it this year his days at Bayern are numbered.

Back on topic. I have to agree with Vince that after the WC he had a prolonged post wc syndrome. I do excpect him to be better this season. I also would want to see him loaned somewhere else if he doesn't get fit this season too. He is too talented to rot in the bench.

Have a cookie. I don't really know what I have to do with ajax but I guess you know better. I've watched Schweinsteiger week in and week out over the last three years (unlike you, I guess) and he is infact nothing more than average, he posseses a good shot and is a decent passer, everything else about him is mediocre. he is not exactly talented, he's slow, his technique is pretty overrated (he has to stop every ball with his sole to convert it) and his vision is not good at all.
Nah, good player and I still think he's got it in him. It's just that he's a lot better as a winger. Wish those training kits would be our real jerseys.

“At the moment we’re training with me as right-back and Marcell Jansen on the left” (http://www.fcbayern.t-com.de/en/news/news/2007/12324.php?fcb_sid=) -Lahm
Good. I hope we will see him on the right side more often, he's become too predictable on the left.
Deisler 06-07-2007, 03:17:AM Man what is wrong with our youngsters. All three poldi, Schweinny and lahm have been horrible last season? All of a sudden they are average?
No i gotta agree with Awax in this one. They are being criticized for a season when we simply did not perform. Poldi was a first year Bayern player and he suffered. I guess that is acceptable.
Schweinny had his ups and dowsn but ffs who had we supporting him? Van Bommel? Owen? They are both more of physical players and not creative. And don't even get me started with Santa Claus or Ali "FLUKE" Karimi. And than didn't he favor playing as a winger? Playing him in the center was a forced choice and that is mainly why he was not productive. I would hate hit to do a Lars Ricken on us. Great potential wasted only because he is playing out of his position.
Lahm is a little different. I really think he should have been better than that. He had his 2 year loan at Shtutgart to fully develop and than was brought back as a full time player. He simply didn't perform, but yet again that can be said for all our defenders. Sagnol went from being one of the best wingers to a mediocre one. Lucio was a headless chicken and a catastophe in the happening. Van Buyten? Well he was more important as a striker for us so that sums it. Our best defender was Brazzo for crying out loud.
I am hopping we don't give up on Lahm, Schweinny and Poldi as of yet. And osle hopping Kroos is not going to be a bench rotting youngster.
Nimreitz 06-07-2007, 03:56:AM Kroos will get a few games with the first team and train with them, but he'll play most of the time in the Reserves. You can't have a young kid like that not playing.
Hendrik 06-07-2007, 04:26:AM Yep. The reserve team is already a huge step up from the U19/U17 youth team. Let's see how he does there first in a more physical challenging league.
There's nothing wrong with Lahm, he just had an average season. He had to play to play every game from the first until the final minute. He barely had any holidays before the start of the past season, I'll let that count as an excuse. He's obviously no Lizarazu yet, he needs to work especially on his defensive skills. Like I stated before, I prefer him on the right side. A three man rotation between him, Sagnol and Jansen should be fine and all will easily get enough playing time.
Schweinsteiger is a different case. He's heading into his sixth (!) season with us and I have yet to see him performing week in week out. 5 good matches a year and some cracking longe range shots are not enough.
And than didn't he favor playing as a winger? Playing him in the center was a forced choice and that is mainly why he was not productive.
Only in the last few matches before Magath got sacked. I thought he wasn't too bad in the center actually. The problem with him on the wing is his lack of pace. He played in central midfield in his youth career and then Hitzfeld played him as a winger so that he could better adapt to this level (I reckon the same will be done with Kroos).
Now it's time to take the next step. In my opinion he will never become a good winger so give it a try in central midfield.. Ze and van Bommel aren't getting any younger.
Deisler 06-07-2007, 04:36:AM Kroos is playing the reserve team or in the amatorial team? I am a bit confused now. I mean is it the same thing?
Well Schweinny has to prove himself understood but benching him is not going to work on his favor that is all i am trying to say.
Kroos unfortunately has a long way to go lets not forget we also took Schlaudraff and he ain't gona be happy in the bench either.
Lahm, Schweinny, Kroos, Poldi, Sosa and Schlaudraff are a nice core of youngsters. We were never that good on that category>
Having a lot of options is a headache every coach loves to have but that also has the risk of burning promising youngsters.
smoove 06-07-2007, 11:16:AM Schweinsteiger is a different case. He's heading into his sixth (!) season with us and I have yet to see him performing week in week out. 5 good matches a year and some cracking longe range shots are not enough.

Exactly. I can't see Bayern relying on Schweinsteiger as an anchor of the team in the future, though. HIs choices are staying with Bayern and getting used to a Rotation/Bench Role or heading to a mid-table club like Wolfsburg, Hannover, etc. and being a cornerstone there. I don't think he'll be able to really be a player to rely on, he's somewhat of a mental case, now seems to have a chronic injury and there's always trouble with his father/manager.
Hendrik 06-07-2007, 12:48:PM Kroos is playing the reserve team or in the amatorial team? I am a bit confused now. I mean is it the same thing?
It's the same. "FC BAYERN II" is the official term.
No one talks about the guy who played 24 games last season and got better ratings than all the other youngsters: Ottl. I'm still undecided about him. At times he's frustrating to watch. I would've preferred to loan him to Wolfsburg and Magath or maybe we should do so next year.
Oh, and

mannu 12-07-2007, 10:26:AM you are looking quite a formidable team...especially with the three new players linking well in attack
smoove 12-07-2007, 11:31:AM My God, so if I'm italian and fan of Roma I say "FORZA ROMA", if I'm scottish and support Celtic I say "COME ON CELTIC", u'r portuguese I think so u say "FORCA BENFICA". So in german we say "GRÜßT FC BAYERN" to support Bayern München.

hmn, strangely I'm from Munich and "Grüsst FC Bayern" means "Greets FC Bayern" which doesn't make any sense. I don't know if making sense is something you'd like to start with, but "Auf gehts Bayern" is the way to do so.
Seems like Ribery is already on great form and I'll have atleast some fun watching the Bundesliga next season.
BayernFan01 12-07-2007, 06:50:PM The Klose-Ribery-Toni combo up front looks deadly. Klose has evolved into a class player
Hendrik 12-07-2007, 07:05:PM About time we have a real go-to guy/playmaker or whatever you want to call it who can take over a match. And he just turned 24.
The attack is linking up great... much faster than I expected. I know we are not playing the best opposition but the Klose - Toni combination is already working well. Neither one of them are selfish and they look to feed the ball to one another if the other is in a better situation. Looking good so far!
Nimreitz 14-07-2007, 08:56:AM I am very glad to have Klose. Every time I've seen him in the past 2 years he has been much much much more than the one dimentional player from the 2002 World Cup. He's is without a doubt one of the best forwards in the world. And Luca Toni is one of the best goal scorers in the world. I'm a little concerned about Poldi, but I can deal with it if Klose and Toni play to their potential this season. Like I said before, this could be a record season for FCB.
Kulixs 14-07-2007, 09:31:AM I think this could be one of the most successful seasons in Bayern's history. Maybe not this season because of their failure to qualify for the champions leaugue, but Bayern must be hot favourites to win the Bundesliga.

Nimreitz 15-07-2007, 09:15:AM Maybe not this season because of their failure to qualify for the champions leaugue, but Bayern must be hot favourites to win the Bundesliga.
We failed to win the DFB Pokal in 2001 when we took the Bundesliga and Champions League. If we win a treble this year with the UEFA Cup, that would be pretty close.
justhammy 15-07-2007, 12:39:PM Thats a great jersey!! It does also remind me of the one of Lyon ;) But still those home jerseys are pure gold! They look fantastic IMO ;)

I guess that shop didn't notice the "don't unveil until August xx" note.
I like it though. As usual I prefer the CL...er "shirt for European duties" to our regular home and away shirts.

paolo-fcb 16-07-2007, 06:33:PM It has the CL logo on it. Mehh
Exactly, so it's fake, stop.
Luca Toni is injured:eek:
Deisler 16-07-2007, 09:20:PM Actually in the Bayern website it mentions a minor injury to Ribery and nothing about Toni. Where did you read that?
Hendrik 16-07-2007, 09:30:PM 10 day break for Toni, nothing serious. He will just miss the League Cup game against Bremen.
It's a good chance to try a 4-5-1. Bring in Schweini and give Ribery a free role behind Klose, that should work.
Deisler 16-07-2007, 09:43:PM O that is just great. Really. I couldn't wait to see the game and now he is out. Well lets hope Klose and Ribery will be there. Also very curious to see Jansen play.
Schweinsteiger 17-07-2007, 03:45:AM Off the topic of Luca. Isn't it great to see all these former bundelsiga stars coming back! Shows that the comp is maybe not all that far behind the likes of italy/spain. Kovac is at Dortmund, Ewerthon at VfB, Ailton is at Duisburg and of cause our own Ze is back! Thoughts? And yes, I agree they are not in the same mould as your Kaka's or Rooney's but it's still a good sign.

He is an average keepr. had his best years at Leverkusen, or at least it is there where he got noticed internationally. He is an average goalkeeper nothing special other than he can score PK and sometimes adventure himmself and try free kicks.
I think you guys should have kept einke he is a far better keeper.

Thank you, and i know, Enke is great, but he was the one who asked to leave a few years ago as soon as he knew about Barça interest, never really played there, but i understand his decision, i would love to see him with us again, but he must be expensive now i guess, thank you.

And we still haven't got rid of Roque ffs.
Roque Santa Cruz remains on the books in Munich, but the want-away striker has no part in the coach's future plans. "Right now, we might be glad at having another striker in the squad, but we're not reckoning on fielding Roque for another full year."
smoove 18-07-2007, 06:39:PM Thank you, and i know, Enke is great, but he was the one who asked to leave a few years ago as soon as he knew about Barça interest, never really played there, but i understand his decision, i would love to see him with us again, but he must be expensive now i guess, thank you.
I believe Butt is head and shoulders above every other Goalkeeper in our League.
Deisler 18-07-2007, 10:49:PM I believe Butt is head and shoulders above every other Goalkeeper in our League.
Well i don't know the goalkeeping situation in your league but he had a lot of athers ahead of him as far as talent goes in the bundesliga. He will be fine though, i supose.
Roque isn't going anywhere. No one would consider taking his salaries considering he has been a perenial bench warmer. We should have loaned him long ago so he could have made himself get noticed. That i think we would have had chances to get rid of him.
And we lost to G'ladbach 2-1 today. Losing to them is worse than losing to a zweite bundesliga team. Wait...(H)
smoove 19-07-2007, 08:04:PM Well, the Bundesliga is probably the League wit the best goalies worldwide, an average Bundesliga goalkeeper is a monster in a league full of clowns in that position like the Superliga.

Who is Wagner? And when Roque will be out don't we need a new striker? And a center midfielder of course, there's a hole in the squad, like last year.......
FANCULO:junior:(N)
Azrael 19-07-2007, 10:23:PM You're kidding right? 3/5 of the players you mentioned came this transfer window, and most of the lineup is made up of players who were there last season. Regarding the striker: Klose, Toni, Altintop, Wagner, Schlaudraff... and you want one more? Dude.
I think you got yourself an awesome team this year, why don't you see how it works, let them play for a bit, and then see if anyone should be purchased in Jan. I really don't think you need anyone. Van Bommel and Ribery cover the centre midfield just fine, and I think Schaludraff can play as an offensive mid as well, so you really have pretty much everything covered. Maybe a replacement for Sagnol since he's getting on with the years, but I'm fairly certain your youth system will come up with something.
Deisler 19-07-2007, 11:15:PM Maybe a replacement for Sagnol since he's getting on with the years, but I'm fairly certain your youth system will come up with something.
I think we are pretty set in that. Jansen can play either side of the field.
Azrael 19-07-2007, 11:47:PM There's also Lahm, but playing him on the right would be depriving him of his greatest asset.
Hendrik 19-07-2007, 11:58:PM Who is Wagner?
A poor man's Carsten Jancker. Don't worry, he'll never make the squad under normal circumstances.
And when Roque will be out don't we need a new striker?
Nah. Toni, Klose, Poldi and Schlaudraff should be enough. It sucks that 3 of them are injured at the moment but you can't just sign a 5th striker and then have three guys warming the bench in two months. We can play Klose alone upfront and then give Ribery a free role behind him.
And a center midfielder of course, there's a hole in the squad, like last year.......
Starting CMs: van Bommel and Ze.
Alternatives: Ottl as a more defensive minded CM, Schweinsteiger more attacking minded and Altintop who has the abilities to perform at both ends
There's definitely no "hole". Last year we had to rely on van Bommel and Ottl 90% of the time ffs. I'm not convinced with the defensive qualities of our new midfield though, especially as Demichelis will be used at the back. There's no pure destroyer in the squad.
Maybe a replacement for Sagnol since he's getting on with the years, but I'm fairly certain your youth system will come up with something.
Lahm and Jansen are already the two starting fullbacks for Germany. For now the three will rotate, in the future Lahm's position will permanently be on the right side. That's the side he prefers. He isn't as effective on the left as he used to be, most opponents have figured him out by now.

Hendrik, Ze is a wing. Altintop a RB or RM. Schweini played the last 2 years at left. Ottl is.......bè let it be.....We've only a center, van Bommel. For me there's a hole in midfield, if Ottl becomes a worldclass player so I'll be ok......

Azrael 20-07-2007, 02:01:AM You could've put all that in one post. Frankly, you sound like you use FIFA as your frame of reference, and an old FIFA at that. Altintop, from what I've heard/seen, can play anything from winger to offensive mid to striker, and I've seen Ze play at the center. A player is normally able to play in more than one position.
Anyway, no, I wasn't joking and you sound like a retarded little boy, no offense.
Schweinsteiger 20-07-2007, 04:32:AM Anyway, no, I wasn't joking and you sound like a retarded little boy, no offense.
Think you've gone a little far there. I for one have been reading this Bayern forum for a year now and I totally find Paolo's views very insightful. He clearly loves his football and knows a lot about it too. I live in Aust with no cable tv, hence, my info comes purely from websites and forums such as this one. A difference of opinion is no need to start an argument.
And for mine, the only problem with the midfield is what Hendrik stated, a lack of defensive capabilties. Ze, Schweiny, Altintop, Schlaudraff are all very versitle but do they have the killer blow in defence?

I'm fan of Bayern since I was born and remember everything happened from 1969 til today, so I try to write something regarding my ideas about my love called FC BAYERN MÜNCHEN, but I can be wrong, til the day will be on the field to play an important match (Ligapokal is not) I can't be sure of anything, but it's obviously that we miss a central midfielder cause we got only one, Mark van Bommel, the other solutions could be ok, like Hendrik says, but we talk about 4 players that are not central midfielder, but it does not mean they can do very well in that position. Killer Blow? Don't know.....;)

2-1 for Bayern, 1st goal scored by Schweinsteiger, then Altintop with a freakin strike :O
Tosiek 21-07-2007, 06:38:PM Ribery!!!
Bayern is playing extremely well in first half.
So much creativity in midfield.. I missed that (Y)
Deisler 21-07-2007, 07:00:PM Boy what a blast from Altintop. Awax did you see Ribery before the game making a Dua' :) It certaily did pay off (H)
I loved the fact how Jansen on the right side made Schweinny look much better than he is playing right now. Hamit Altintop was the best player in the field in the first half by far. He has heart and runs all over. I am starting to love his work ethics. Lahm was good too, lets hope he returns to form. Lucio was Ok even though he still is not what he used to be.
Klose looks surprisingly good behind that midfield. He is an original.
Mertesacker on the other hand is becoming one of my favorite defenders. he is gaining an incredible security when he goes one on one with the opponents. I saw a couple of stops he had against Ribery and Klose that were world class.
As far as the other game goes, i got extremely bored. My God Shalke was so slow and predictable. Good for them they were playing Kalsruher where Kapllani which knocked in 17 last year in the second bundesliga was a shadow. I was happy to see Christian Timm again (H) Whatever happened to him, wasn't he suposed to be the next Klinsman?

I loved the fact how Jansen on the right side made Schweinny look much better than he is playing right now.
On the left side, Lahm played on the right. Speaking of Lahm, I thought he looked much more comfortable there.
Altintop had a great game, if he continues to play like this he will be more than just a squad player.
Ze was brilliant. He shows he can be a good DM and also contribute to the attack. Unlike last year van Bommel can now completely focus on the defensive duties.
BayernFan01 21-07-2007, 11:31:PM We played great and our midfield was firing on all cylinders. Altintop=MVP

Incidentally, do any Germans here know if Arena have given up the rights to broadcast the Bundesliga officially now?
Hope Premiere get the rights back.

I don't know what I'm doing here, especially being this a thread about Bayern, but I've gotta say, argentino, give this guy what he wants. If he wants his account suspended until hell gets cold, just do that. Especially after those derogatory words against all people in this forum, not only against Bayern fans.
Hendrik 22-07-2007, 02:38:AM Incidentally, do any Germans here know if Arena have given up the rights to broadcast the Bundesliga officially now?

Yup, Premiere announced it a few days ago. About time, those Arena presenters/commentators were bloody awful.
Deisler 22-07-2007, 02:38:AM Well because he is not getting what he wants doesn't mean he has to act like a total @ss.
Now enough with that crap.
paolo-fcb 22-07-2007, 12:30:PM PREMIERE is absolute perfect for the Bundesliga, Arena has been not so good and I'm glad to see Bundesliga back on Premiere TV.
I got no troubles cause I can see the matches on italian SKY-TV but fot the german football fans is a good thing.:ewan:
FORZA BAYERN!!!!!
1966+2006 23-07-2007, 03:37:PM I thought Premiere always did a great job, they showed the top games first and kept it down to an hour when showing the highlights.
I thought Arena was just a joke, pathetic.
There was also no point in watching Sportschau since they milked it for all it was worth with all their "competitions" and adverts.
They showed highlights of 7 games in about 2.5 hours.
Deisler 23-07-2007, 06:05:PM According to Marca we are interested in Asier Del Horno Valencias player and ex Chelsea. I don't understand why as we do not need any more wingers. Plus i didn't like him when he was at Chelsea anyways.
EDIT: Sounds like lahm will be pushed at the midfielder role as before mentioned, but whose place will he take?

Hendrik 23-07-2007, 06:32:PM And Tuttosport reports we're interested in Walter Samuel.
Yawn, we're not going to sign any more players.

He won't, he will be the starting rb until Sagnol returns in a few weeks and then we can rotate the two and Jansen.

Sounds like me when Ballack came. I don't know who I will end up liking more of the new signings between Ribery, Toni, and Klose, but those are some great options. No one else on the team has the class that those 3 have, and Altintop is the kind of player that every team needs.

Thanks for posting the article but I got it, I bought it in the summer of 2003 in München, it was the official training kit of FCB, weared on the Fan-Katalog by Ze Roberto.
Nimreitz, I agree what u said expecially about Hamit, it's a really good player and hope could play a great season, so I hope all ok with the other new players like Ribery, Toni and Klose.

paolo-fcb 25-07-2007, 05:12:PM Premiere Ligapokal, semifinal, VFB STUTTGART-BAYERN
So könnten sie spielen:
VfB Stuttgart: Schäfer - Beck, Meira, Gledson, Magnin - Meißner - Hilbert, da Silva, Farnerud - Gomez, Cacau
FC Bayern: Rensing - Lahm, Lucio, Demichelis (Van Buyten), Jansen - Zé Roberto, Van Bommel - Altintop, Ribery, Schweinsteiger - Klose
Without Kahn:boohoo::nape::mad:
Also we miss Sagnol, Sosa, Poldi, Schlaudraff, Toni, etx.
But Stuttgart misses players too, like Delpierre (great defender), the mexicans Osorio and Pardo, the injured Khedira and Bastürk, Ewerthon and Hitzlsperger doubtfoul......like Miroslav Klose?:-puke:
LET'S GO BAYERN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tosiek 25-07-2007, 05:19:PM I'm going to watch this for sure (Y)
Deisler 25-07-2007, 05:25:PM Paolo no offense mate but i am with smoove on this one. Writting with a huge and colorfull font is uncalled for. Doesn't make the post better mate. What a strike!!!
smoove 25-07-2007, 08:59:PM nice strike! (Y)
BayernBoz 25-07-2007, 09:21:PM Bow down to Mr. Ribery.
paolo-fcb 25-07-2007, 09:23:PM Halftime, Stuttgart-Bayern 0:1
What a goal Ribery!!!!! We're dominating the match, Altintop shots 2 times as well as possible, good chance for Sandro Wagner and good assist on the goal by the young striker of FCB, he's tall, Kicker says 1,94x87 but seems taller.
Achtung in the 2nd half, Stuttgart has Ewerthon on the bench, he's a great break-baller for us, and Hitlzperger, ok let's watch the 2nd half.
Hope we win, olè super-FCB.
Deisler, is it all ok this way?;)
BayernBoz 25-07-2007, 09:37:PM Ze Roberto is playing extremely well in that DM position, he seems to be cleaning everything that comes in our half.
Altintop has been playing really well too and we're showing good creativity from time to time as a team.
Also, I heard the commentator say that Mr. Veh said that the match doesn't really matter. If I played against Bayern, I'd say that too, because he knows the end result.
BayernBoz 25-07-2007, 10:23:PM End of the Game. 2-0.
2nd half produced more opportunities for both teams. Bring on Schalke!
Deisler 25-07-2007, 10:36:PM Deisler, is it all ok this way?;)
Much better mate much better. :D
But honestly, mate that was not intented to insult you anyhow, just a friendly advise. ;)
Anyways, we owned Shtutgart but they were missing some parts. Well we had all our attacking force missing so that should balance it. Schalke here we come. :)
paolo-fcb 25-07-2007, 10:38:PM Finally, Stuttgart-Bayern 0:2, deserved victory, no match, only Bayern on the field, great goal for Sandro Wagner, hope we've found the 5th striker, and if we get Fürstner and Kroos in the 1st squad so we have a roster simply perfect, remember that tonight we missed: Kahn, Ismael, Sagnol, Sosa, Toni, Poldi, Klose and Schlaudraff, and Roque is going away.
Now the final with Schalke04, achtung, they'r a band of bastards and it will be a very hard match, they got 5 good strikers like Asamoah, Halil Altintop, Kuranyi, Larsen and Lovenkrands and yesterday I've seen very well the new young Rakitic, then Bordon, Krstajic, Kobiashvili, Ernst, so a really good team.
Forza Bayern!!!!!:lui::hump::corn::ewan:;)

Hendrik 27-07-2007, 08:47:PM Saturday 28 July, 6 pm
League Cup final (in Leipzig)
Schalke 04 v Bayern
Probable line-ups:
Schalke 04: Neuer - Rafinha, Bordon, Krstajic, Pander - Ernst, Kobiaschwili - Rakitic - Halil Altintop (Asamoah), Kuranyi, Lövenkrands
Bayern Munich: Kahn - Lahm, Demichelis, Lucio, Jansen – Hamit Altintop, Ottl, Zé Roberto, Sosa - Klose, Wagner
Also in matchday squad: Rensing, Van Buyten, Lell, Dos Santos, Celozzi
That bench looks very 06/07-ish :( Finally the first real test for our defense. Kuranyi is in great shape, let's see if they can stop him.

MUNICH, Germany (AP) - German soccer officials suspended Bayern Munich midfielder Mark van Bommel for three League Cup matches for striking an opponent.
Van Bommel pushed his right hand into the groin of Stuttgart player Fernando Meira during Bayern's 2-0 semifinal win on Wednesday against VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga preseason tournament.
The country's sports court called it "blatant unsportsmanlike conduct."
Van Bommel will miss Saturday's League Cup final against Schalke along with two future cup games in coming years.
