How does that take away from the facts? 1-5 what... ok we beat them. how many times have they beaten us in the past 5 years, how many times have they won the league.

We beat them and how. They didn't stand a chance, which proves that we atleast match them. So our feeling of superiority isn't only based on a far gone passed. Which I BTW don't find that long ago. Only 10 years ago we were owning the world and for a big club that would be far too long ago, but for a club who every year sees there own grown stars go to big guns with alot of money it is an outstanding performance.

psv outdoing us isn't something new, its more than just a trend.. ajax fans need to wake up to the facts.. we've been doing horrible ever since morton olsen left..

I disagree. Not so long ago we just missed out on a semi-final spot in the CL by an over-overtime goal. We missed the title on one goal last year. If we would've scored one goal more last season nobody would be whining, we'd be in the CL and we'd be the champions and PSV would've had to go through those nervous qualifying rounds. We just need a little bit more luck.

we count ourselves to be the top of europe

Which isn't that strange for a club that has won 4 european cups and 2 world cups. It doesn't matter that some of them are from the seventies, because we still have the reputation from that period. Foreign pronounce PSV as PSV Eindhoven(often not even knowing where that is) and still see Ajax as the biggest and most popular club from Holland. PSV would have to do alot to make that reputation changed.

but we're having problems staying on top of our own league.. we've sucked for the past 8 years or so and i cant wait for the day where i wake up where ajax wins the league with ease, rules europe and does it with a squad that's made of players from our own youth.

That's going to take a very long time. Because everytime we have a young gun he gets bought away and this happens much sooner than it used too. Players who barely performed at the highest level get bought away immediatly just because they have enormous amounts of talent. Look at Babel and Drenthe for example, they play one decent Euro U21 and immediatly they get bought away.
Now I ask you what if we could afford it not to let all of our self-trained stars go every single season. We would have a team that would own the whole world with Chivu, Maxwell, Sneijder, Van Der Vaart, Babel, Zlatan and the list goes on.

if you are satisfied with ajax' performances lately, youre not an ajax fan.

Ofcourse I'm not. Beeing thrown first out of the CL by Slavia and than out of the UEFA by Zagreb isn't nice. But I'm sure we'll get over it. I'm not going to whine: 'oh it's so bad'. Let's do something about and if we have a little bit more luck I'm sure we'll win the league again and perhaps who knows have some success in Europe again aswell.

I hate that populistic Taco van den Velde BTW.

I agree 100% with Zlatan and I second that :junior:

Good win against Heerenveen tonight with 3-1 (Heitinga, Maduro, Klaas)
And Alves......??? never scored in de ArenA and he didn't score tonight as well :gavin:
We played solid tonight with a good defense I only say one name: GREGORY VAN DER WIEL man what a talent I was really impressed by him tonight, as if he plays on the team for years :)

We're through to the next round let's see what Feyenothing can do against Greuning'n tomorrow.

WE ARE NR 1 AGAIN! :bob::bob:

After the defeat from psv yesterday and our win today against Roda (4-2) we are back in first place (Y)

Goalscorers:
Hunter (of course)
Suarez
Luque
Rommedahl (injurytime)

Luque was MoM today when he left the pitch we gave a standing ovation for him he was awesome, his freekick and corners are very dangerous for the defenders! He found his place with Ajax :)

A few nice things to know:

- We are the most productive team in the league with 30 goals
- Hunter and Suarez are the most productive couple in the whole of EUROPE!
- we are now 17 games undefeated in a row PROPS AJAX
- Hunter is topscorer in de Eredivisie with 11 goals (Y)

I like the way we are playing at the moment, very attacking football and the team works very very hard for a win.
Adrie Koster can stay for this season IMO, he wants attacking football and that's the way I want Ajax to play.
Our defense is good as it is with van der Wiel, Johnny, George and (today) Vertonghen.

I'm very happy!
Next week Feyenoord in de Kuip but we're not scared of them and if we play like today we will win it! (like we normally do when we play there)

Good to see so many youngsters playing (Schilder, De Jong, Van der Heijden), not to mention Vertonghen and Wan der Wiel. Our age average in starting line-up was 22,5 years old :) good victory, although there was very nervous last 15 min, but Rommedahl finished the business. Let's continue this wining streak and next sunday!

Anyone still here?
Anyway, we're now in full command after we won confidently versus Vitesse with 4-1 and Feyenoord lost to Groningen. Wooohoo!

Silencer
25-11-2007, 05:03:PM
Yes it was a good win although the 2nd half wasn't as good as the first one, Hunter scored again :)
We are now the ONLY team who's undefeated in the league and the best goalscoring team to boot with 38 goals :clapwap:
And on top of that our attacking duo is the best team in Europe (Hunter and Suarez) so all in all a great weekend.
Especially after the loss from Feyenoord :D

But what about the ceremony for Jaap, it was a great goodbye for him!
The atmosphere was amazing in de ArenA this afternoon and I had a great time.

Next week NAC, another homegame and Gabri and Maduro were injured today, hopefully it's not a bad one..

van der vaart
26-11-2007, 10:32:AM
The second half was bad, but we won 4-1, so i can't complain  the best thing is, that feyenoord lost, so the weekend was really good :bouncy:

Silencer
02-12-2007, 04:14:PM
(N) As good as last week was as bad is this one, losing against NAC with 1-3 is not good and we sucked!
Our defense was weak, personal mistakes by Johnny, Vertonghen and Emanuelson costs us 3 valuable points because now PSV is in first position again. Well Hunter scored at least his 50'th goal for us but no party of course!
Feyenoord beat Heracles with 6-0 in their own stadium so like I said it was a bad bad weekend for us (N)

You win some and you loose some but we were unbeaten up till now and we better win next week again against Willem II :taz:

Zlatan

Guys, great news at last. Thomas Vermaelen has extended his contract until 2012. This ofcourse won't mean he will stay until than, but we might be able to enjoy his defensive actions a bit longer now. :D

Silencer
06-12-2007, 10:47:PM
Yes I'm hoping a few players will follow his example (Maduro) but Thomas staying is fantastic news indeed (Y)
I remember last season when some big names wanted him and he stayed with us, Vermaelen is an Ajacied :)

Silencer
08-12-2007, 12:21:AM
Yeah I actually had a flashback when I was watching the game, back to the time when Wouters was our coach. He should remain an assistent not a head coach cause he's really bad (N)
Not that I mind seeing PSV loose of course cause tomorrow we can become first again but we'll have to beat Willem II first. I have every confidence that we will cause we won all the matches in Tilburg in the last few years (one exception in the cup) but we'll have to do it first :shades:

Zlatan
08-12-2007, 10:09:AM
Cody, did you know that 'Sjohnny Hèèètingâh' is actually from Alphen a/d Rijn?

BTW I like it how PSV got trashed by Roda yesterday. It's a shame it didn't stay 0-4 we could've laughed at them even harder.
Get your hands up for Jan Wouters guys, he seems to finally pay back the damage he caused a few years ago. :D

If that would always be true. Ajax would be in for something next week. PSV wouldn't be razorsharp, but as sharp errr...something very sharp.

Do agree about what you said about Wouters btw. I don't think he's able to motivate players (he isn't even motivated himself) and makes weird tactical choices (Bakkal as a striker vs. Heerenveen, choosing Bakkal or Mendez over Perez)

Silencer
08-12-2007, 04:30:PM
Well I'm counting on a good game next week against PSV and may the best team win (hopefully us). If we lack the form like last weeks against NAC we will go down but if we stay focussed we can beat you guys.
We'll see but personally I'm looking forward to it.

It seems that Juve opened talks with Ajax for Klaas Jan next summer, they see in him a replacement for Trezeguet but I know for a fact that Ferguson is a great admirer of him and he wants to get him for ManUtd.
If I were KJ I would go to England, ManUtd is fantastic for him IMO or isn't he ready to go abroad at all because sometimes I doubt that???

Silencer
08-12-2007, 09:35:PM
2-3 endscore we won but forget what I said about the razorsharp thing.. :drevil: The gameplay was really terrible again, Willem II who are almost last in the table were better from time to time. Maarten saved us again a couple of crucial times (Y)
Suarez played good today and more for the team, he wasn't selfish so I think Koster had a talk with him ;) He scored a goal as well.
For me the man of the match was Jan Vertonghen, he made the difference in defense tonight, he's fast, he's good (Y)
They came too damn close in the last minutes, Willem II almost scored from a header but Maarten kept it out (again).

One very bad thing is that we lost Gabri due to an injury, Ajax played so much different when he had to leave the pitch. He's our motor in midfield and we missed him in the 2nd half :(

Xifio although I like your sig I have to ask you to resize it to 300x100 px thanks.

According to the rules you're only allowed 1 image...but as 2/3 of all the members seem to have banners as well, that rule isn't very strict.

Silencer
09-12-2007, 01:40:PM
it never once looked like we were a juggernaut table-topper playing a team languishing in the drop zone ... Klaasy had a couple of chance to seal the game in the second half, but uncharacteristically failed to put them away ... in the end, the only difference between the teams was one big blunder from their keeper ...

mate, my sig is only 207x100 ... the two vertical flags are separate -- like the banners you have below your sig, except mine are along the sides ... surely that's road legal?

Nope sorry it's against the rules, banners are allowed that's true but not vertical things like this so if you make them horizontal it's fine with us.
Thanks

This weekend is shaping up to be a great one. Feyenoord 0-0 versus VVV hahahaha. We're solo leaders in the league table again. :D

I too think Klaas should go to Man Utd. They lack a pure striker like Klaas and I think Klaas fits English football better than Italian

Juve fans admire Klass and they've been talking about him for about a year or so. We see him as Trezeguet's ideal repalcement. Of course Trez can play for a couple of years but Klass would have some playing time IF we make the CL.

The money is in England and Spain so for Ajax and Huntelaar they might get more there. What I've heard is that we've had some kind of an option when we negotiated the Grygera deal with Bettega. Who knows?

Media in Italy link us with every player in the world so I hope your sources come directly from Holland and not a rumor coming from Italy.

According to Ajax it comes straight from Juve read for yourself ;)

Official: Juventus Negotiating With Ajax For Huntelaar

Juventus President Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has revealed that the club are negotiating a deal to bring Ajax striker Klaas Jan Huntelaar to the club.

The prolific hitman has been in brilliant form this campaign scoring 13 goals in as many matches in the Eredivisie.

Huntelaar has already made it known that he will be leaving Amsterdam at the end of the current season in order to move abroad, and it now seems that his destination will be Turin.

“Yes, we are negotiating a deal for Huntelaar of Ajax,” Cobolli Gigli told the Corriere dello Sport today.

Juventus have long been admirers of Huntelaar, and were linked with a move for him before the outbreak of the Calciopoli crisis in 2006.

They were also set to make a firm bid for him this summer when David Trezeguet threatened to leave the club. However the Frenchman signed a new contract and the idea was scrapped.

Given Huntelaar’s similarity to Trezeguet, it seems likely that Juventus consider the Dutchman as a long-term replacement for the current Serie A top-scorer.

Huntelaar, who has had limited chances in the Dutch national team under Marco Van Basten, will not move to Turin until the summer if negotiations are successful.

He already said he wants to leave after this season. Not a chance he's staying.
As far as that goes, I'm a bit concerned about next season. Johnny is probably gonna leave too, Maarten might. Wiges? Suarez? Maybe Urby too. Edje close to retirement perhaps.
I hope Van Geel will be able to cope with those losses better than he did last summer with Ryan and Wes.

I love those articles. I read the Corriere dello Sport and Cobolli-Gigli said that he was one of the players we were looking at.
I still think he could join us but our management is not that great. We're linked with players like Pasane and Mellberg so...

You could take Afonso Alves to replace The Hunter. I don't think he's a one hit wonder.

Damn police is on a strike this weekend and they picked the games from Ajax - PSV and Feyenoord - AZ to do it (damn bastards)
This could well mean that the game will be canceled :( The decision will be tomorrow but the judge gave the police permission to go on a strike.
Man I hate this, the game I was really looking forward to DAMNNNNNNNNNN
This is the time to beat them, they lost big time against Roda last weekend and against Inter this week in the CL and we had all week to prepare for this game it's not fair!
We want to see football this sunday.

In a statement Ajax says that they feel bad about the judges ruling and they are hoping the game can be played in a good and peacefull way and Ajax will do anything to make sure that it all goes well but without the police there.....not gonna happen I think.

Stay tuned..

Now about players leaving, I'm sure Suarez isn't going anywhere, come on he just joined us! Maarten will stay as well and if I were Ajax I would offer him a new contract and sell him for many millions next year or after two seasons.

Zlatan
15-12-2007, 12:02:PM
Damn, it has just been announced on the official site that the game is cancelled. This really s*cks, cause you're right in saying that if there was any time to beat them it was this weekend.

Think I'm going to the shops and steal something, just to show why the police can't strike FFS. :(

Zlatan
15-12-2007, 02:49:PM
Well the conformation has come by the Ajax board, there will definatly be no Ajax-PSV tomorrow.

That's the first time I actually agree with the man. Damn this really sucks.

I am so f*cking pissed about this you have no idea, damn police I hated their guts but now it's even worse damn bastards :s***::f***:
And the fact that the court approved the strike makes it even more sh*t!
I was so looking forward to it, a team decorated the stadium this morning with Ajax/war colors :(
The only positive thing is that when the game eventually will be played, Edje will be back, Leonardo and v.d. Wiel will be fit again but that's the only positive thing this weekend the rest sucks!

I couldn't believe my eyes just now when I read the following:

The game needs to be played between now and 8 weeks and if the game cannot be played at home then it could well be played at PSV OR we could loose the game according to the KNVB rules with 0-1 :| even without playing the game that really sucks :f***:
The KNVB will do anything to prevent that but if it happens then thank the police for that is what they say.

Unbelievable this

A 0-1 loss would be unacceptable. In every way. Ajax stated often enough that they wanted the match to be played. If there's no other way, the match should be played mid-week imo even though it's a high risk match. Then the police should just have 1 evening less off.

I didn't mind it was cancelled though, have an important exam tomorrow.

Zlatan

Damn I'd be so extremely pissed if that would happen. Jesus Christ I think I agree with Dr. Dre in saying motherf*ck the police, lol. :p

No but seriously, I have every respect for the police and the work they do at football matches but playing it this way is just not the way to do it. If we lose it to the title at the end we have them to blame for it and they can pay us the 5 odd million we lose by not playing the CL. :D

WTF! :f***:
First they let us play on a pitch that's not even worth playing on (a disgrace).
The pitch was slippery and in some places real hard but that's not an excuse because we played like sh*T! Personal mistakes made us lost the game against f*cking EXCELSIOR FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! (N)
I say we sell Colin fast what a terrible defender :( but George was sick so he had to play and thanks to him Excelsior scored within a few minutes. Ajax should be ashamed of themselves after this performance I'm pissed as hell and with me many fans.
Thanks to the loss, psv is first again and Feyenoord is now in 2nd position WTF again this cannot happen!
And i forgot to mention that Excelsior are last in de Eredivisie :|
This thursday we play a homegame against FC Twente another very very hard game but at least we play in Amsterdam.

And about the game against psv that had been cancelled, it's going to played on the 30th of januari and a few days later we play against Feyenoord at home is the KNVB f*cked up crazy or what?? :|

Pfffffff no good weekend for us but Merry X-mas guys and enjoy the holidays at least that's what I'm going to do (or to try at least).

Silencer
30-12-2007, 05:24:PM
And again we f*cked up against VVV (2-2) Good thing that both our attackers scored again but we really sucked big time. Lost almost every ball and it was really poor. We need new players it's as simple as that.
OK only 3 points behind psv who's first but January is going to be really tough when we face psv, Feyenoord and AZ again. Luckily for us Feyenoord didn't manage to win against Heerenveen today.
So it's winterbreak now, let's hope we come back better and stronger after that.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!! :clapwap:

KENNETH PEREZ RETURNS TO AMSTERDAM

Ajax and PSV reached an agreement last night and Kenneth PEREZ will return to Amsterdam immediately!
Yes it's true he's coming back and I couldn't be happier :clapwap::clapwap:
I was really angry when he went to psv but his team is Ajax and will always be Ajax!!
He signed untill 2009 with an option for one year more :D
Welcome back Kenneth and may you score many goals and give lots of assists cause last season it became clear that he and Klaas-Jan played very well with eich other. Let's not forget that he scored 17!! times for us last season and almost everytime as a pinchhitter. It seems he will be starting in the first line-up from now on as replacement for Wesley (otherwise he wouldn't have come back I think)
Next week Ajax will set up a trainingscamp in Dubai and Kenneth will travel with the team. Man I already start laughing cause this month at the end of the month we play against PSV and Kenneth will be wearing our colors again
Heavy calendar tho: 13 jan. AZ (homegame), NEC (away Amstelcup), Vitesse (away), PSV (home) and Feyenoord (home) good that we play in de ArenA a lot.
Maybe Amrabat (who now plays for VVV) will join Ajax as well next week, well he was tought how to play at the Ajaxacademy so he's coming back home if that happens.

All in all not a bad start to the new year now let's hope we will collect prizes and mainly the championship!

you guys are apparently after Steaua's 24-year old left back Mihai Nesu. you'd probably get him pretty cheap I'm sure.

never been a fan of him, I mean he's pretty solid and determined but for the past two season he's been pulled off by injuries and only had average performances. he could be good if he'd go forward a bit more, but he always appeared so lost on the pitch, with or without the ball.

Thanks for the info Theo, I've read it as well that Ajax was interested in him we'll see ;)

Yes I've watched the game against Inter and one thing is for sure:

KENNETH IS BACK!
Fantastic goal :fluffy:
Good to see Edje back in action as our new captain (Y)
That Julio Cruz is getting better and better :| and we are really poor in taking penalties :(
Tomorrow we play against VFB Stuttgart for third place.

When the result became 0-1 so early, i was very pesimistic about this one, but it turned out, that there was not so bad game :amika: Good to see Perez and Leo scoring

Zlatan
13-01-2008, 04:53:PM
Yeah for a moment I was counting us out of the title race. But this is great, 6-1 against those arrogant kids from Alkmaar. Turning point was ofcourse the penalty kick and the sending of of De Zeeuw. But what a way to start 2008 though, may it be an omen. :D

Silencer
13-01-2008, 11:55:PM
Amen we sent them back to the cheesemarket in Alkmaar with a thrashing!
2x Hunter (could've scored more though but who's complaining)
1x Bakircioglu
1x Leonardo (fantastic comeback for him)
1x Perez (Penalty but he was very important, two assists and a goal! he's back)
1x Vertonghen (one of my favo's at the moment and he's getting better and better)

I had a ball this afternoon in de ArenA and we were singing about the transfer (not gonna happen) to AZ :amika:

Hopefully we can hold on to Maarten because the Spurs want him but if not...I hope we will contract Piet Velthuizen (one of the greates talents and goalkeepers in Holland) he was awesome against de Graafschap!

Good start indeed, NAC (Amstelcup) and NEC away are the next games..

Is it true that The Hunter might go to Real? That's what Ernesto Bronzetti(well know agent and close ties with Real) said today. F*CK!!!

Zlatan
14-01-2008, 01:38:PM
I don't know where you got that from, but Klaas promised to stay until the end of the season and I think Van Geel won't let him or anybody else go this transfer window

I meant for June. Anyway that guy last year said Ronaldinho to Milan and Chivu to Real and that never happend so...

Silencer
14-01-2008, 02:25:PM
Hunter has told the media that he is very happy with the return of Edgar Davids and Kenneth Perez. "We play so much better than we did a few weeks ago, there is a clear difference now and that helps me scoring goals.
Kenneth can score goals and gives great assists and Edgar is agressive and dangerous in midfield and gives out great passes as well"

He is not planning to leave Ajax untill next summer like Zlatan said and hell I don't know if he goes to Real Madrid I highly doubt it though because they have Ruud van Nistelrooy and he just signed a new contract till 2010.
Manchester United wants to bring out a bid for 18M I believe and Juve wants him so we'll see who will sign him in the end.
One thing is for sure, he's going nowhere now, Ajax will not cooperate and Hunter wants to become champions.

Zlatan
14-01-2008, 02:25:PM
Well he's certainly going to leave to a big gun after this season and to be honest I don't give a crap to whom he goes aslong as we get a lot of money for it.

Oh and Silencer, talking about Alves:

Yeah it was hilarious yesterday great atmosphere wasn't it :junior:

I've just read that there were scouts from 6 EPL teams in the crowds yesterday: Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool (for Huntelaar), Spurs (for Stekelenburg), Blackburn Rovers (for Maduro) and the last one is a joke: Sunderland (Like there are players from Ajax who want to play there)

Again I hope we can hang on to Steek and the other players will not be allowed to leave YET except Maduro.

Oh and mark77 there is no mentioning what so ever about Hunter and Real, not on any official/fansite from Ajax.

PSVFOREVER
14-01-2008, 03:45:PM
Huntelaar to Madrid would be a stupid move. He'd have a hell of a time trying to force Ruud out the starting 11 and I don't think he'd be able to do that. And a line-up with both Ruud and Huntelaar wouldn't work I think, too much of the same.

If he's smart he stays until the summer to move to a big European team. Although the chances for a big transfer will then highly depend on his performances during the euro 2008.

I'm not too unhappy Ajax humiliated AZ. Now van Gaal can shut up, although he won't of course, as he still thinks AZ has a chance to win the league. Now for Ajax, I think you'd have to agree you aren't very stable and are able to put big results against big teams (Feyenoord twice last year (0-4 and 4-1?), PSV 1-5 and yesterday AZ 6-1) but manage to screw up against smaller teams soon after those big matches (RKC away comes to my mind immediatly).

This doesn't take away Ajax'll most probably play for the championship until the end, but I think PSV will aswell. Both teams will drop enough points in the remaining fixtures, so Feyenoord will be able to keep up with us, but they're going to lose their chances for a championship in the big matches I think.

Silencer
14-01-2008, 05:00:PM
I agree with you on both points Cody, it would be a big mistake if Klaas-Jan would go to Real and we win against big teams and loose points against the 'smaller' teams like Excelsior and VVV for crying out loud!!
Next week NEC away, always very difficult to play against and Mario Been is doing well there and I'm very curious about the game against NAC wednesday for the cup..

IMO Ajax and PSV will be the only teams fighting for the championship because Feyenoord won't be able to keep up with us in the long run, it's going to be a very exciting second half of the season (Y)

van der vaart
19-01-2008, 12:20:AM
So Maduro goes to Valencia for 3 mln. euros. Well, he would go on a free transfer in summer anyway, so it's pretty good deal for us i think. Now when Perez is back, there wasn't a place for him in starting eleven, so..
Good luck Hedwiges and thanks for everything :clapwap:

i think i'd like to join this thread.

i've been an ajax fan since 1978 when i first became enamored of the dutch national team. i live in the usa so the world soccer scene at that time was a real mystery. but i played the sport like a demon and my father took me to a satellite broadcast of the 78 world cup final. the program we bought that day had a great section on the oranje and the rise of ajax in the early 70s. i was all of 12 years old, but i played the same general position as cruyff so i was naturally drawn to him. (yes, i know he wasn't on the 78 squad but he cast a long shadow as everyone well knows.)

i don't get to see ajax play much. in fact, i can think of two matches in the last five years. but i follow every match online and track their progress. i keep hoping that they have another wonder squad like the '95 team so i can see them lift the european cup.

Yeah Cody we all sucked today :(
1-1 against NEC just isn't good enough, terrible game..thankgod Hunter scored for us otherwise we would've lost this one.
And PSV against VVV well VVV is a difficult opponent it seems, all draws against topteams but today we didn't play as a topteam, more like a subtop-team. Good thing that AZ lost against Heerenveen (another beating for Louis) that makes up for it a bit..

Haha, what a strange weekend. VVV-Venlo is really turning out to be a giant killer. :)

Well I'm happy they drew PSV cause otherwise we would fall further behind them. You could argue this was actually a rather good weekend with us gaining a point on Feyenoord, AZ getting trashed(again) and keeping PSV within touching distance.

Fantastic win against Utrecht with a stunner of a goal from our Hunter (Y)
2-0 well deserved we were superior during the game.
Urby got kicked out of the match in a real dirty manner :( and he was carried off the pitch on a stretcher.
Thomas Vermaelen is back and immediately he showed how important he is and not a moment to soon as well.
This weekend Vitesse away, next wednesday PSV Home and the sunday after that Feyenoord home. That's not all because in two weeks we face Roda away. I'm happy that the injuries are almost over, we have Silva now, Davids, Perez, Vermaelen, Leonardo so now we should get a good result out of those games!
Oh and Ajax will make a second bid for Orlando Engelaar this week and Engelaar really wants to come but he's willing to wait untill the summer if need be.

Zlatan
24-01-2008, 12:53:PM
I think we'll have to wait atleast half a year for Engelaar. Would be a nice signing though. (Y)

Good victory over Utrecht, certainly because of the way we played, they didn't stand a chance. For a moment I thought it was going to be such a frustrating afternoon again, but fortunatly it didn't when Klaas scored his goal and 10 minutes later Johnny. :)

Silencer
26-01-2008, 06:54:PM
Engelaar is still hoping to come to Ajax within this week but Twente has to cooperate of course.
More transfernews: It seems that Ajax wants Rasmuss Lindgren back, he already played for us once but he grew to be an assett for Groningen.
Also Sami Kuffour will be joining us this monday in defense, he was a player for Bayern Munich for many years, monday he will get a medical and if he gets through that he will be Ajacied.
So it's looking good with Silva already been signed, Davids and Vermaelen back we will give everyone a run for their money I hope ;)

Zlatan
27-01-2008, 12:24:AM
Kuffour is a nice signing I think. Van Geel is obviously opting for experience with his signings lately. If Kuffour signs I think we have a reliable defense again.
An extra good midfielder will be nice too.

27-01-2008, 10:34:AM
Well Ogararu plays never really crap, but also never excells. He's going to have to show more now that he isn't the only good right back we've got in our selection with the signing of Silva.
Mitea has attended the hospital more than trainings, I think. Talented player, but his body just can't handle professional football. Ajax wants to ship him off to another club.

Silencer
27-01-2008, 03:04:PM
Silva did great on his debut today keeping Ogararu out of the starting 11.
2-2 against fietstas where we had so many chances to win it but the ball was saved off the line two times!
Great goal by Urby btw after he started playing in midfield when Vermaelen came on as a sub for Vertonghen.
Kuffour is coming tomorrow for a medical, it seems that we will hire him for the rest of the season with the option to buy him in the summer if he's good enough. I'm hoping on Lindgren to return he's awesome lately (Y)

Wednesday PSV, if they play like they played against Excelsior we surely have a good chance winning it but with them you never know..

In other words this is the team that has to make us champions, no more signings after Sammi and Rasmus.
We'll see tonight when we play against PSV, I'm at work right now but I will hurry to de ArenA to watch the game myself of course.
We have to win this and if not we MUST win on sunday against 010 or the gap will be too wide to close. But if we win both the margin will be very close and we have a good chance. 5 points behind PSV right now so let's keep our fingers crossed, good thing for us is that Affelay has been suspended for this game because IMO he is one of the best in de Eredivisie.

Title race over? One may say so with Feyenoord drawing AZ 2-2. Damn this majestically s*cks. That's it, although one might argue we had a bigger deficit gap last season, but still...

So that means no cup this season. Why do I keep wondering how this season would've looked for us if Wes kept to his with champagne celebrated promise?

I don't know but PSV was better and more efficient it's the hard truth.
Two chances two goals where we had more chances but didn't score. Suarez was so close a few times but no goals so that's the story basically.
The red card was deserved it was a blunt stupid foul by Davids (N) and before that he lunged into Farfan and escaped... :| and now we have to miss him on sunday against Feyenoord.

so how good is engelaar cuz it seems Porto is interested

Silencer
31-01-2008, 12:46:AM
He's the captain of FC Twente and an important player for them, he can pass, he can shoot he can score. He's a strong long player who can make other players better during the game.
He's not real fast, sometimes he makes stupid fouls because of that.

Porto interested? He wants to come to Ajax though in the summer so I would be surprised if he goes abroad but you never know.
We almost had him this week, he wanted to come to Ajax and Ajax wanted him but the club didn't cooperate :(

Silencer
03-02-2008, 04:50:PM
This was by far the easiest win I've every witnessed against Feyenoord :jacko: it started from the kickoff where Hunter could've scored immediately :|
3-0 without a problem:

- Heitinga
- Hunter
- Hunter

Like taking candy from a baby :amika:

Feyenoord was incredibly weak and we should've won it with 6 0r 7-0.
We were not even that great but some attacks and the last goal (chip from Lindgren as assist) from Klaas-Jan was a beauty!

I had a great time this afternoon in de Arena but why set fire to our own stadium?? :gavin:
Lots of smoke filling up the stadium and it stank :kader:

Anyways we are in 2nd position 8 points behind PSV so anything is still possible, next week Roda JC away and they are real strong so we'll see how that one goes.

EN WE ZWAAIEN MET Z'N ALLEN NAAR DE KUIP!
SLO(E)RY IS DE HOER VAN AMSTERDAM LALALA

De Feyenoordfans were singing when the game begun but we silenced them up real quick :p

BTW: Coach van Marwijk (Feyenoord) after the match: We were trashed and humiliated, Ajax had great spirit we didn't.

Zlatan
03-02-2008, 05:35:PM
It was a very strange match. We dominated and it was like we played some kind of amateur side. You would expect more from Feyenoord but apparently they weren't pumped up for the one and only klassieker. It's a shame we could'nt really convert the many chances we got but in the end we won comfortably 3-0. Seriously, seeing the way Feyenoord played we could've gone double digit if we would've been a little sharper in front of goal.

Silencer
03-02-2008, 07:22:PM

It's not over till the fat lady sings but it's going to be very difficult to keep in track with PSV but who knows maybe they will drop points in the process.
It's hard to stay positive though, we were much better than Roda in the 2nd half and should've won. Silva scored a good goal from a freekick but it was disallowed for some weird reason! We deserved more but like Cruyff said if you don't score you don't win it's as simple as that.

It's especially sad that we're going to miss Gabri in the coming matches, he's one of the more influential players in our squad that could really help winning the upcoming difficult matches.

More bad news, guys. Ajax.nl is just reporting Stekelenburg won't be playing against PSV aswell tomorrow. :(

18-03-2008, 11:37:PM
What the hell!! :kader:
Stekel can't play, Gabri out for the rest of the season, Siem out unbelievable this :(
Let's hope we can beat them anyway with the squad that will be on the pitch, I'll bet that Gentenaar will be our goalkeeper then, he's good but not as good as Maarten.. or wasn't he injured as well??

A bit of luck is that Afellay won't be able to play against us since he sprained his ankle today but that's not 100% certain.

The season's over, we lost against FC Twente away and there is no way we will pass PSV. The first half was terrible, the 2nd half was better but we gave away the goals much too simple :(
Nothing this season: no title, no cup NOTHING I'm really pissed off about that so let's hope Marco can turn things around (:/)

24-03-2008, 06:07:PM
Thanks to Wesley, HtC, Luka Modric, Uri Coronel and El Salvador for this wonderful season.

Actually it can already be decided next week. If we lose to Heerenveen and PSV wins to NEC(and this can happen pretty easily) the title goes to the farmers again. Let's now just make sure we end up fifth so we atleast have european football(jesus christ, I sound like a FC Utrecht supporter)

Let's hope we can hold on to atleast some key players next summer, although it seems certain that Johnny and Klaas are going to leave. If they decide to stay I bloody hope they're not going to celebrate it with champagne and a press conference for they'll be sold the next week. Hopefully San Marco has what it takes to find some good replacements.

How are the romanian players at Ajax doing?

Silencer
26-03-2008, 01:48:PM
Well according to Ajax they can go and find other clubs, Mitea already moved back to Romania (dinamo I think) and Ogararu will be next. He played in midfield last sunday (for crying out loud)

You were right Zlatan, Heitinga is about to sign a contract with Atletico Madrid (career suicide if you ask me) for 5 years so he leaves in the summer.
Too bad and I'm sure Klaas Jan will be leaving as well for Italy, Spain or England...

Zlatan
26-03-2008, 02:03:PM
Mitea has the talent but not the body for professional football. Pity.
Ogararu is a decent backup for Silva.

Gourcuff to Ajax??

Media reports that van Basten wants to get Yoann Gourcuff for Ajax next season!
He doesn't play much for Milan, Marco wants to use his contacts in Italy and now he's doing so with this..

I won't mind if he comes to Amsterdam cause he's a great player (Y)
This guy is an assett for any team!

Interista13
28-03-2008, 11:14:PM
Wow, that actually seems very likely to happen seeing how closely related Marco is to Milan and how Gourcuff doesn't even play much...

I hope you guys will turn him into a superstar as you've done to countless other players! :amika: (Y)

Silencer
29-03-2008, 10:35:PM
Well Gourcuff wants to think about it personally I don't think it's going to happen but we'll see..

GREAT WIN AGAINST HEERENVEEN TODAY (Y)

0-1 Suarez
0-2 Perez (P)
1-2 Sulejmani
1-3 Hunter
1-4 Hunter
2-4 Pranjic

Fantastic header from Klaas Jan when he scored his first goal, two men were flanking him and yet he managed to score a great header.
Suarez was very important with his goal and the assists on Hunter (twice)

Even better is that psv didn't win against NEC so they only get 1 point for their efforts.

We did what we had to do and that's maintain our 2nd spot and with a deserved win as well :)
Hunter climbs the ladder on the golden boot scale again with another 2 goals making his total this season 29 and the season's not over yet.

Next week de Graafschap at home should be a sure win with more goal(s) for Klaas Jan.

Guys, I'm really starting to get confused with the decisions the Ajax staff makes. Just yesterday they decided to give the sack to Groenendijk who's a hard working assistant who could've been really useful in the youth academy once Marco and his staff enter next season. Now this is even more strange. Willem II's topscorer Rydell Poepon, who's been playing his first full season on loan at a difficult relegation fighting club, doesn't have a future anymore at Ajax and has been told to go. I mean alright he might still have a lot to prove, but when Klaas leaves I think we need every talented striker we can get. This is a disgrace.

Silencer
03-04-2008, 06:50:PM
It's strange I agree, Poepon is a great player but not the replacement we should look for when Klaas Jan leaves. Martina (topscorer in Ajax2) signed a new contract and next season he plays for the first team. I think Martina is better than Rydell Poepon but that's my opinion.
As far as Groenendijk is concerned I agree totally it's a big mistake cause he's great with the Ajax-youth.
Fontein signed for AZ, Scheringa still has the illusion that they can become better than us hahaha yeah right enjoy the 12'th spot Dirk :amika:

We signed a new 10 year deal with Adidas and they will spend 70 Million in this time to sponsor Ajax AND our new headsponsor will be Aegon and that's one of the biggest deals signed between a club and sponsor in Europe!!
Thank you Fontein and have fun in Alkmaar :amika:

Zlatan
03-04-2008, 07:03:PM
Yeah well, Martina is more of a right winger, while Poepon is more like a striker. Moreover Martina hasn't played at Eredivisie level yet, while Poepon has and has proven he can more than cope. Why do I have the feeling they rejected him just because of his name? :p

Talking about Fontein, anyone else think we should've offered him a job as financial/commercial manager? He seems to do very well on that part, getting big sponsor contracts isn't that easy when a club like Ajax misses the CL twice in a row.

Another three points against De Graafschap today (Y)

Klaas-Jan scored a H A T T R I C K and his 32nd goal this season for us and goal 100 in de Eredivisie! Congrats to him and what performance again :|

Great atmosphere in de Arena this afternoon, Heitinga played his 125th match in de Eredivisie and there was a huge flag with his face on it and in the crowd you could see a very big nr 2 (John's number)
4-1 when it could've been easily like 8-1 or something, Luis Suarez was awesome again and really deserved a goal too bad he didn't.

During the break Ajax said farewell to our headsponsor since 1992 ABN-AMRO.
Many legendary players were present during the break in Ajax outfits with all the prizes we've won since 1992 with ABN-AMRO on the shirts.
Bryan Roy, Danny Blind, Frank de Boer, Stanley Menzo, Richard Witschge, John v.d. Brom etc etc they were all there it was nice to see.

Interesting news from voetbal Insite (tv program) tonight:

It seems that Ajax will start a partnership/cooperation with ARSENAL, van Basten called Arsene Wenger and he's very interested and so is the staff of Arsenal.
And it could well be that Martin van Geel's days are numbered with Ajax, this week all will be revealed..

Here's an impression of today thanks to my buddies Oscar and Big T from Ajaxlife!

Update on Skysports:

Gunners consider Ajax link-up

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Arsenal could forge a relationship with Ajax from next season.

Marco van Basten, who will step down as Holland coach after Euro 2008 to take charge of the Amsterdam club, has visited Wenger this week.

The two discussed the possibility of a mutually beneficial agreement that could see players loaned out from Arsenal to Ajax.

"Van Basten visited us at the training ground this week," Wenger wrote in his programme notes for the Premier League clash with Liverpool.

"We spoke a bit about Euro 2008 and about Ajax, because he is taking over there in the summer.

"We spoke about how he wants to see the future of the club and how he wants to work there, and any similarities with our policy at Arsenal, and about whether they can take players on loan for example."

Ajax Network reports that Ajax is very close to signing a contract with Miralem Sulejmani from Heerenveen, it seems that the clubs have almost reached an agreement.
Wow this guy is some player, talented and fast and most of all he scores goals, I wouldn't mind seeing him play for us :amika:
I was a bit surprised because Gertjan Verbeek will be the new Feyenoordcoach next season and i thought he would take him with him to Rotterdam but then again if you can play with Ajax who wants to play for fc Feyenothing :amika: and we can offer more more money than them..

I think Vitesse will give psv a run for their money because they can still qualify for UEFA Cup Play Offs and psv under pressure is not that good either.
All we need to do is win against Heracles at home and the pressure is with them not with us (Y)
Let's keep our fingers crossed guys, maybe we can still party on sunday on the Stadhouderskade! If not than psv is damn lucky again like last year and we play better football than them at the moment.
It's better to prepare for a psv championship but we can still hope after tonight.

Well I think it wasn't really a surprise anymore, but Johnny is going to leave us for Atletico Madrid in July. I guess it was time for him to go, but I think Atletico is a bit under his standard. But, ah well, I wish him all the best there in Spain. Johnny is a legend!

Why did we play with those ugly Adidas stripes today :kader:

Well congrats to psv again.

OK that's it another lost season, we gave it away in december when we lost many points within 5 matches (N)
We've won with 5-1 today against Heracles but psv managed to win against Vitesse so by a narrow 3 points they are champions again :(
We played better football and scored the most goals this season (94!!!!!) but still it's not enough to secure the championship unbelievable!

The goodbye for Johnny nevertheless was breathtaking and he deserves it of course, I'm going to miss him and so will Ajax, great for him personally that he scored a goal :)

We deserved more this season but again we forgot to pick up the points against Excelsior, VVV etc etc

Play-offs against Heerenveen pffff going to be tough but we showed this season that we can beat them and now we have to do it again.

Congrats to Maarten Stekelenburg who became Ajacied of the Year and that pretty much tells it all, if your goalkeeper becomes best player of the season..
Vertonghen became best talent of the year and that's very much deserved (Y)

It was great to hear Johnny say:"there is only one club in the whole wide world and that's Ajax, I will be back!"

More news:

According to the Spanish Newspaper AS Ajax is ready to pay 5 Million voor Dario Cvitanich a great Argentine talent!
He plays for Banfield at the moment and he scores many goals and a lot of them with his head.
On www.ajax.netwerk.to you can see a few goals on youtube and I must say he looks really good.
Espanyol wanted him as well but he wants to play for Ajax (of course)

Zlatan
20-04-2008, 07:00:PM
Yeah well. Never really thought PSV was going to waste it really. As far as that goes it's a shame they managed to draw Twente last week, if they lost there, they would've had to win today and that brings a whole different kind of pressure. But in the end the one who stands on top after 34 games is the deserved winner. We really wasted it this season during the bad Christmas/January period where we lost points to the likes of Excelsior and VVV. If we just got a dull win like PSV always does, we would've won the title surely.

BTW Cvitanich, hmm? Sounds like Gabrich to me...

Silencer
22-04-2008, 01:26:AM
Gabrich hmm maybe but today Cvitanich confirmed in Argentina that the transfer is almost a done deal, only the board needs to give their approval, the player wants to play in Amsterdam and the Technical Director already agreed with the transfersum which seems to be 12M according to the Argentinian media in stead of the 6M mentioned before by AS in Spain.
Ajax remains silent and states that they will come with the news as soon as they sign a new player as usual hmmmmmm normally if it's not true Ajax is the first one to proclaim that it's bogus but now they remain silent.
So there must be some truth in the words of Cvitanich then :o
To be continued I'm sure...

I noticed that you guys scored 94 goals this season. What is the league record for most goals scored by any Dutch team?

Silencer
27-04-2008, 10:51:PM
The leaguerecord is also ours :D

We scored 122 goals in the season 1966/1967

OK It seems that we are diving in full steam ahead for Sulejmani, Ajax is making it their priority to sign him asap.

Cvitanich is ours also, the medical will be this week, the signing of a contract will happen after that.

It's official guys, Dario Cvitanich signed a 5 year contract today, can't wait to see him perform

He says it's a great honor playing for Ajax and he hopes for lots of prizes and Championships (that makes two of us).
He can play everywhere in attack according to himself and he hopes he will master the Ajax-system real quick.

Welcome Dario

BTW, can we conclude from this transfer that Klaas will certainly be sold?

No not yet but there is a possibillity and MvB wants to make sure that he has a few attackers if that happens, Sulejmani will be next I think ;)

Deserved win with Heerenveen today. Suarez and Perez did great job today, Stekelenburg as well with his long-assist. The place in play-off final is decided I think. Only some kind of catastrophe can take it away.

Silencer

YEAH winning goal from Johnny! :innocent_smile_1:

Heerenveen won't beat us in Amsterdam on monday so I'm pretty sure we will play the finals, looks like it's going to be FC Twente but it would be a real joke if they go through to the qualifying stage for the Champions League.
3 games to go and we're there!

Zlatan
01-05-2008, 07:19:PM
Yeah solid win. Just hope we won't be kicking ourselves at the end on Monday for all the chances we missed. We could've won with like 5 or 6.

Suarez man of the match for me BTW. He's really playing well lately, together with Johnny our best player in the latest matches I think.

05-05-2008, 01:57:PM
Well according to Lemic, manager of Sulejmani he's coming to Ajax next season, he's way too expensive for Feyenoord and he doesn't want to play for PSV with all the problems there. Also Ajax wants Robbert Huth from Middlesbrough and Antunes from Roma, Antunes wants to play for Ajax he already said that's because the competition at Roma is fierce in defense.
Then a player for Westerlo (Belgium) Dirar (Moroccan) wants to play in Holland and Ajax seems to be the best candidate in other words MvB is really building a new team for next season. Cvitanich is already an Ajaxplayer and he scored for Banfield again and the other players mentioned here will follow shortly if it's up to Ajax and MvB.

Wow Sulejmani!! If that happens I will be very happy cause he's a fantastic attacking player who will make the team much stronger in front.
I watched Huth play for Chelsea that's all I know about him and Antunes... I know he's on a loan from Pacos de Ferreria with Roma but he doesn't play much so I can imagine he wants to play. MvB wants him and Huth to form the defense with Vermaelen and Silva.

Tonight the 2nd game against Heerenveen, hopefully a good win with more goals, we can afford it to get a draw or even lose with 1-0 but I'm sure we will win because we always score goals in a homegame.

I will be there tonight to cheer them on at de ArenA.
Sulejmani is injured so he won't be there again for Heerenveen.
