View Full Version : HALL OF SHAME?
Russian Rocket 03-12-2000, 07:45:AM I feel that we should make something like Hall of Shame and add the most pathetic, ashaming actions in soccer in the past 1-2 years.... Like in hockey, I would add Marty McSorley who almost killed David Brashear last February with a slash, Ruslan Salei, who hit Mike Modano into the boards and almost borke his neck, Alex Yashin, who in the middle of his contract went to Europe in order to get a better one, the whole Russian nat. team that sucked in the last WC losing to Belarus and Switzerland, NHL 99 which was far more unrealistic than 98 one and where computer liked to cheat scoring goals from random shots when it takes a lot of effort for you to score whether from a one-on-one spin-a-rama or from a rebound...
You've got the idea, let's make a soccer hall of shame. Here are my picks:
1. FIFA 2000. What a terrible game. I enjoyed it, though, played a lot of it. But it was just terrible and unrealistic. Although I did not play FIFA 2001 yet, I feel it is more advanced than FIFA 2000.
2. FAPFLM 2000. Another terrible game. No new players generate through the seasons, budgets are messed up, no players agree to play for once bad-now best team... Likewise, did not play the 2001 version, but this 2000 version just stinks.
3. Kevin Keegan. Did terrible with England, although give him some credit as he was honest when said that he was not the right man for the job.
4. Taibi. Came from some middle-class Italian club to the mighty Manu and allowed the kinder-garden-like goal in one of the first games...
5. Woodgate, Hackworth and Bowyer... What a scandal that was when ones of the most loved youngsters in England Bowyer and Woodgate plus their teammate Hackworth were involved in a fight which almost killed that Asian guy... Still, not accused, though...
6. Middlesborough and Bobby Robson.. With 50 million dollars spent, these guys are 2nd from the bottom in the EPL... 'nuff said..
7. Vieira. "Wonderful" start with 2 red cards in first 2 games and got another 2, I believe, after that...
8. Bhutan nat. team. 20:0 to.. Kuwait, I reckon???? That's a lot, you know..
9. Del Piero. This guy is very active on the pitch.... But he does not score with one of the highest paychecks in Italy... Scored a couple this season.. But one from a penalty.
10. Martin Martin Martin..... I will never forget Palermo's 3 missed panelty kicks in the game with Colombia a year ago in Paraguay...
11. Those who defend the new football transfer market idea which allows players to change clubs weekly... That would nearly kill football, or at least take a long while until the full re-adaptation to it...
Anything more you would like to add?
12-phile neville against romania last minute euro200!

what's the use if Man Utd will win anyway!
Russian Rocket, I have not seen u in these forums for a while, welcome back.
1) I can't believe you did not play FIFA 2001!!!!!!!! I thought you would be the first to play it! You were so active in these forums. Is it becuase it is too expensive, or not available in your country? I thought you would download the demo or even the warez (which is very bad to do). I just can't belive you have yet to play it.
2) When you do play it, do the folowing first:
a) in options set gameplay to "slower"
b) ref strictness to MAX even tho it does not do anything (but it makes u think it does http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
c) Get the camera fix patch from the downoads section
d) get the euro 2000 crowd patch
e) get your favorite kits/jerseys
3) I disagree with when you said FAPL 2001 sucked, you did not even mention the gameplay, i mean come one, it has a power bar for more than just shooting, and the players are more spread out than FIFA 2001. I think the game is just as good as FIFA 2001 , if not better.
4) I have a website now, www.fifa2002.gq.nu (http://www.fifa2002.gq.nu) what do u think about it?
SCTW www.fifa2002.gq.nu (http://www.fifa2002.gq.nu)
Russian Rocket 03-12-2000, 12:48:PM You know, I never ever dissapeared.... And I was not the most active person here -- some people came here more frequently.. It was just a long time I started a topic, that's all.. I mean I way here all along in the Greece-Finland topic where I was one of the most active people..
As for FIFA -- nope, it is not expensive for me... I just told my friend, who has cable, to download it, and I still had not managed to visit him with my hard-drive to copy it... I am not that enthusiastic about getting it anyway, unlike I was last couple of years... And I live in California, USA, and the game is sold in every store here in Bay Area... That's where EA main office is located.
Nice site, a lot of wishes, but will EA read those? i doubt it, but I might be wrong... It's just because EA knows the problems of the game, but still make the game with them.... And FM 2001 is the game I did not play. i did play 2000 version which should get into al the shame records http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif Anyways, what made you write your post that firendly? We never were close friends http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Russian Rocket 03-12-2000, 12:58:PM Also, I would like to add:
23: Robbie Fowler with his celebration by sniffing the grass
24: Guam national team. 19:0 to Iran and 17:0 to Tadjikistan, I think.
25: Cyprus 3 Spain 2 Euro qualifiers
26: Jardel who left Portugal for Turkey for a ****load of money and suddenly wants to come back in 3 months.
27: That Romanian team that was winning 4:0 with 15 minutes left but still managed to loose 5:4
28: Andy Cole with tackle on Emerson Thome last Tuesday.
29: Jamie Carragher scoring 2 own goals in a last season's match.
30: Russian fans who fought...each other... in Moscow while watching Switzerland-Russia game on a big screen TV in Luzhniki Arena..
anything more?
Neutral 03-12-2000, 05:43:PM Robbie Fowler sniffing the grass was a shameful moment in soccer?
So what about those moronic Everton fans who had been calling him a smackhead for the past couple of years, or the Everton fans that beat him up at a hotel.
I'll add mine.
i)Roy Keane clearly, and purposefully, stomping on Stephen Freund's stomach last year at White Heart Lane.
ii)Alex Ferguson then accusing Stephen Freund of 'play acting'.
iii)Sky Sports' incredible bias towards Man United.
iv)The media and the FA's rediculous treatment of Patrik Viera - Neil Ruddock makes racist comments to Viera so Viera spits on him (that's the LEAST I would do) and Viera gets a 6 game suspension. Matt Elliot elbows Michael Owen in the head - 1 game suspension. And, of course, Roy Keane stomps on Freund and he get's nothing - ah, but he's 'just being Keano'
v)The Manchester United players practically assulting the ref last year when Middlesborough came to Old Trafford. If any other team's players did that to the ref or linesmen there would be hell to pay. Imagine if Viera forced the ref back to the touchline - they'd stick him in jail.
vi)Stan Collymore
vii)Massimo Taibi
viii)Alex Ferguson's excuse for being humiliated at the world club championships by Vasco - "We lost the coin toss and the sun was in our eyes". Ok, maybe not disgraceful, probably the funniest.
ix)Yugoslavian fans making monkey chants, and Yugoslavian players making racist comments to Emile Heskey last year in the England vs Yugoslavia U21 game.
x)Fans in Turkey and Greece going a bit too wild. When Liverpool played Olympiakos last week the Liverpool fans were pelted with bottles and coins. Thankfully they didn't retaliate, but on Thursday when Olympiakos come to Anfield if Liverpool fans threw coins at the Olympiakos fans you'd never hear the end of it.
Manny 03-12-2000, 09:16:PM 23) Fans of Barcalona (against Real Madrid), Milan(against Galatasaray) and Besiktas (against Leeds)
for throwing things at the players.
RussianRocket - just to correct you, but it was Dwight Yorke who did that horrific tackle...
Neutral I ******* agree - Sky Sports do have a bias towards United. I mean, the company once tried to buy them, which meant that many people, myself included were going to tell them to shove their subscriptions up their arse!
I have some more additions to the hall of shame...
1) United's grey away kit they had during the 1995/96 season. They lost each game in it, and were losing 3-0 at half time at Southampton when they changed to their third kit. And the excuse? They couldn't see each other because of the crowd! To make that excuse feeble - they went to the Dell the following season in blue and lost 6-3!
2) Galatasaray fans - how they got away with killing two Leeds fans and giving Arsenal fans **** before the UEFA cup final. How the club escaped punishment, I do not know... And yet, some clubs have had heavy punishments for a lot less!
3) Welsh FA employing Bobby "The Bastard" Gould as manager in 1996. Should never have happened - that **** ruined Welsh football, which is why we're so low in the "rankings".
4) Everyone's bias towards United - as Neutral pointed out. United get away with murder. Keano's stomp, Beckham did that middle-finger salute, when other players have been punished for bringing the game into disrepute (even if fans did slag off his "stick" for a wife)...
Talking of racism - didn't Schmeichel get away with calling Ian Wright a "nigger"???
5) Massimo Taibi - he was **** at Milan and Venezia, so why United signed him I dunno - still I loved every moment of that Chelsea v Man U game last season (the 5-0) and that thru the legs against Southampton!
6) Premiership referees - they've been diabolical this season. Dodgy decisions, and one ******* ref has done three big errors this year and got away with it! At least the ****test two refs got demoted to the Nationwide - though they'll ******* plague our league 'n' all!
7) Figo - what a waste of money - I wouldn't pay £4.00 for him, never mind nearly £40,000,000. He's been ******* **** for Real Madrid...
8) Liverpool's defence - I mean, how can a team who boasted the best defensive record of 1999/2000 season play like that now. They even let a 3-0 lead slip at Southampton, and lose the lead twice against a poor Olympiakos side???
One RussianRocket should know...
9) My local team - they lost again - at Peterborough... about time the manager went, and someone bought the club.
10) Beckham - seen that tattoo he has on his left arm? It means "My wife's a stick" in Hindi! http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
11) Stoke City - they lose to some non-league team in the FA Cup, then Liverpool (with **** defence) go and beat them 8-0 away in the League Cup...
12) Transfer system - if it changes. This would kill small clubs! Whoever wanted to change the idea should be hung!
13) Paul Jones for THAT gaffe in Minsk - losing to Belarus is just pants!!!
14) Chelsea - the atmosphere in the dressing room must be like that old Kit-Kat advert shown in the UK... Interpreters R Us - even their gaffer can't speak a ******* word of English!
15) Finally, EA Sports for putting cotton wool in their ears when it comes to listening to our suggestions. We thing the ideas are for their good, as well as ours - but do they listen? Do they ****...
Since FIFA 99, the series has gone downhill, and something needs to be done. But as if they're bothered, when they've got into such a position that they're dominating the market by producing second grade games???
Oh - one more - #16) Manchester City's new away kit. Surely the designer of that kit should be doing a fifteen stretch for a diabolical combination... Silver shirts, navy shorts and wait for it - fluorescent yellow socks! YUCK!
moleskow 04-12-2000, 09:32:AM je, je... Martin Palermo?
Ask Real Madrid for Palermo..
Maybe you cant forget those 3 penalties against Colombia, but remember both goals against Real Madrid and his 90 goals in 120 matches for Boca Juniors.
Bad days, thats all.
By the way, Maradona missed 6 Penalties in one tournament. (Playing in Boca Juniors too)
http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/wink.gif
Russian Rocket 04-12-2000, 09:01:PM I never said Palermo sucked... It's just he had a bad day, but still deserves to enter to hall of shame...
JJ -- if Flynn leaves, then bye-bye Wrexham... Wrexham is the poorest club in the league, and it makes money by selling players... Not Flynn's fault that Wainwright, N. Roberts, and that Mackem keeper left.... Short of funds, that's all... And the crowd does not show up too.... What Wrexham have is one of the best stadiums in 2nd division and probably the best youth academy...
And, of course, the new transfer market will kill the club, like one of the financial directors pointed out already (probably read it on red-passion online)...
Russian Rocket 04-12-2000, 09:02:PM oh yeah, didn't sir Alex's son miss a penalty in the Peterborough game? I missed the highlights yesterday on the Sky Sports News... http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/frown.gif
Marching on Together 04-12-2000, 09:15:PM Dear Russian friend
I have a personal one for your list
Nigel Worthington - the worst defender ever to put on a leeds shirt, well I suppose there was Chris Whyte...
Excellent selection. I think you might find its Woodgate and Hackworth who are in the ****... one reason why Rio has come to our club...?!
Peace love and the whole of Manchester United can go in your list....Theatre of Dreams....what bollocks....!!!!!!!!
Russian Rocket 04-12-2000, 09:24:PM well, I sympathise Manu a little bit... How they play...
Every good manager has to have excuses, you know... The better the manager, the more pathetic his excuses are...
SocrManiac 04-12-2000, 10:08:PM I'm afraid that everybody forgot the biggest blunder in soccer history... MLS...
dragan84 05-12-2000, 12:14:AM HALL OF SHAME:
1) Bergkamp getting away with stepping on Mihajlovic at france'98. BITCH!
2)The referee at the EC 96 quarter final between Croatia and Germany. I mean Sammer gave Vlaovic a knee in the back and the ref didn't do ****!!!
3) Bayern M. vs. Manchester United (champ.-league final) THOSE ******* BITCHES CAN'T GO ONE MATCH WITHOUT BEEING LUCKY!!!AND EVERYTIME I TALK TO A MAN UTD-FAN THEY ALWAYS TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH MONEY THEY HAVE, AND HOW THEY WERE THE BEST TEAM OF THE 90'S. YEAH RIGHT!!! THEY CAN TAKE THAT ALEX FERGUSON AND LET HIM GO SUCK THERE MOMMAS DICKS!!
Ukrainian 05-12-2000, 02:59:AM WOW!I never knew there are SOOOOOOO many Perfect People all over the world. They consider themselves good enough to make lists for "Hall of Shame"!It's easy to seat on your ass and criticize other people's faults, isn't it???What about to go on the pitch and try to play REAL football yourself?I'm sure, none of you guys is able to score a goal from 1-meter range http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
RussianRocket - yeah, the club do seem to be doing well on a shoestring budget, but the latest schemes to try and get more money, as well as the club's form this season has kept fans away.
Flynn has been there for a while - nearly 12 years as manager, and some people (myself included) think that it's time we had something new... But who would replace him though? He knows the club inside out...
Indeed the chairman had some part to play in the transfers of "Wally", and Neil Roberts, though that "Mackem Keeper" left because he had a training ground row with Flynn and left... which is why we sucked in the 98/99 season.
Still we have at least got more money than our rivals (Chester City - a bloody Yank owns them FFS!)... Which still puts a grin on my face.
But I am strongly against this proposed change to the transfer system. It said about it in one of last week's issues of the local newspaper (Evening Leader), that such a move could cause problems for us, who make money by selling on talented players...
Though the Roberts transfer caused ructions with fans, we got £1,000,000 for him...
Yeah, Darren Ferguson missed a penalty - the Peterborough keeper saved it (jammy bastard), and their goal was a bit lucky. We should have beaten them!
Still it's good to know that a Russian has an interest in my local team anyway!!!
SocrManiac - I agree, MLS is a big waste of space. Too "Americanised" like their other sports and a load of boring matches - mainly cos it's full of crap players and old pro's thinking it's their retirement home!
As for the definition of lucky - I second that opinion of dragan84. The CL final of 1999 was the flukiest result Man U have ever got in their history. I get the same problem - Man U fans just brag about their team, money etc. etc. and when we tell them they're sad, and give them the real facts, they don't listen...
Why are there so many Man U fans in the world? Cos it's the only ******* team they've heard of!
More additions to the Hall Of Shame...
1) Aleksandr Filimonov's infamous blooper against Ukraine in the Euro 2000 qualifiers. Man, that was a classic gaffe!
2) Bradford City's chairman - he knows **** all about football and seems to pick the team himself. Then when they lose a load of games, he puts blame on the manager and gives him the sack!
3) My team Wrexham again - for THAT home performance against Mansfield Town in the League Cup!
4) FIFA - for being such thick twats that bring stupid ideas to the game. Hey, in a nutshell it's the World Club Championship. A total waste of time event invented so that Brazil could win it (two Brazilian clubs in a dour final!). Also Sepp Blatter tried everything to get South Africa the World Cup in 2006 - he may has well have joined their delegation!
5) The FA - total laughing stock! Not just have they gone and got a foreign coach as a manager for their national team, but they seem to be biased towards - ******* United!
Vieira could be (or has he?) been banned in trial by television for some high kick, yet Man U players have done a lot worse in the past and got away scot-free...
6) Mickaël Silvestre - why the **** United signed this idiot I don't know. Every time I've seen United play on TV, he's played ****e. Mind you, I don't mind though - it makes United ****ter http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
7) I can't forget this one - the Welsh team who threw it away against Romania in a World Cup qualifier in 93. We got an equaliser, then a penalty. What does Bodin do, but hit the ******* bar. Then Raducioiu scored a winner in the last few minutes! That day I was so gutted!
8) England team against Germany two months ago - hahaha!!! I love it!
9) Man United again - next year, little Scummites (erm, little kids who've been told the wrong team to support!), will be making their parents spend hundreds of pounds on three more new kits!
The usual update that their new kit producer does... it seems as if there will be 39 new United kits from 2001 until their deal ends!
I heard Nike's jerseys have that TBT stuff which apparently changes the gender of sweat molecules (or something like that)... what's the point in that, when United have a ******* big girl on their right wing?
Ukrainian - here's a fact. I have played real football myself - I used to be in my school team, youth team and ******* Sunday League pub team, and scored too many goals from 1 yard out http://www.soccergaming.com/ubb/smile.gif
Though I don't play the game much now because I have better things to do (like being a lazy bastard)
Kezmaniandevil 05-12-2000, 04:23:AM Top 5 Hall of Shame:
1) Ugly and rascist remarks shown by the Lazio fans
2)Partizan-Red Star match ending after 2 minutes, in which the fans ran onto the field even attacked some of the players.
3) The manager of Leicester spitting, taunting and yelling at the manager of Red Star.
4) Viera's lies and attitude.
5) Slovenia fans getting beaten in Milan, because they were thought to be fans of Dinamo.
Russian Rocket 05-12-2000, 06:01:AM Ukrainian: do you count yourself as a perfect person? Well, I don't care how high your ego is, I count you a lame-ass ****head... You attacked me in the CL topic just because I am Russian. Just because of it. There, you told how much YOU HATE Russians... AND HOW MUCH OTHER WORLD DOES... that is called predjudice. "pre" means before. and "judice" means to judge. You attacked me before you knew me... And I am pretty sure you would never respond to this topic if it would never be posted by me. So mind your own business, you have done too much already, just enough for me to think about Ukrainians like you think about Russians... But I won't because I don't hate Dinamo Kyiv like youo hate Spartak, I don't hate Ukraine, liek you hate Russia, and many of my friends are Jewish who came from Ukraine (I am from Vladivostok)...
Russian Rocket 05-12-2000, 06:08:AM JJ -- GOD! How could I have missed Filimonov's mistake... That was something... it was the 1st thing I thought before writing this topic, but somehow I forgot it in a matter of minutes... We were winning that one and that if he would never allowed that goal, we would have been in Euro 2000... Sadly, Ukraine failed to qualify and to loose to Slovenia.... And Shovkovsky also allowed a goal pretty much as awkward as Filimonov (from 45 meters out to open net. Where he was -- I have no idea)... but you know, Ukraine could have qualified still if they would win at home...
also, ukrainian..
"It's easy to seat on your ass and criticize other people's faults, isn't it" Yes it is... Those racist remarks should go in the hall of shame, just like Filimonov-like mistakes... You have a problem with that?
One to add surely is the best own goal ever seen - Charleroi v Geel in the Belgian league last season.
Some Geel player took a shot from long range and the Charleroi keeper was out of his area and used his hand to stop it. Obviously this would be a red card offence, and there was a load of whistles in the crowd. Then some Charleroi player went and booted the ball into his own net in disgust thinking his keeper did a foul, but the ref never blew, and so it was credited as an own goal... hehehe
Russian Rocket 06-12-2000, 03:56:AM I will not add Spartak's loss here in hall of shame just because that Lyon will get offended by it -- I do not want to say that Spartak's loss was shameful just because it would sound like an excuse to the loss.. But no excuses! i mean if I say that: "Spartak just sucked" I would mean that Lyon won because Spartak had a bad day -- this year this was Spartak's first bad loss..
I will give Lyon some credit, and say that they are/were a better side than Spartak not only today on the pitch, but in reality...
Ukrainian -- are you happy now? I hope your prediction will not be true, but, you know, that's a start.....
