View Full Version : New casual and street soccer brand
nutmegapparel 09-07-2007, 02:14:AM Well to start off my name is Nick i live in california and i love soccer i have played it since i was about 3-4 years old, I am now 19 going on 20 in a month and have noticed soccer or Futbol doesnt have that many casual and or street soccer brands that you can sport around when your out and about not playing soccer. Thats why i created "Nutmeg." Nutmeg is a new and stylish soccer apparel brand because thats what the soccer world needs, i just wanted a surf / skate style apparel but only for soccer. I started designing in April of 07 and am open for any sugesstions. So if you wanna check out the shirts or just wanna see what this is about check out these websites....www.nutmegapparel.com THIS SITE ISNT QUITE DONE THE ONE UP RIGHT NOW IS JUST A LITTLE PRE SITE JUST TO KEEP THE DOMAIN OPEN ITS UNDERCONSTRUCTION AND WILL BE UP SOON HOPEFULLY... also check out www.myspace.com/nutmegapparel this is my nutmegapparel myspace page it has all the shirts i have designed in the last month and the two i have printed right now... thanks for looking at the pages and tell me what you think....
Help? 09-07-2007, 04:22:AM Errr, so far the two designs you have, have no sign of soccer on it at all. All i see is a nicely desinged name of a soccer move, but i don't see anything else that has to do with soccer. Looks more like a typical urban shirt design.
What you need is to import a guy doing a bicycle kick or kicking a ball in there somewhere. Just some person or a few in a position that portrays some soccer moment.
That's my two cents, if you even will ever read this.
nutmegapparel 09-07-2007, 05:56:AM see i did have some designs like that but alot of stuff now days has gone away from the mom and pop designs of soccer no more bicycles and soccer balls on shirts its the name that portrays the soccer image you understand?
davidcfs 09-07-2007, 06:20:AM see i did have some designs like that but alot of stuff now days has gone away from the mom and pop designs of soccer no more bicycles and soccer balls on shirts its the name that portrays the soccer image you understand?
Um... right....
You know there is more to soccer then just soccer balls?
I think this is silly, it looks like your typical new-age design clothing only you have slapped some soccer terminology on it. The reason I dissagree with it is because all though it may say nutmeg, it has nothing to do with soccer what so ever.
nutmegapparel 09-07-2007, 09:00:AM i no there is more to soccer than soccer balls but most of the stuff now days with soccer related stuff doesnt sell i work in a soccer shop and i see what sells and doesnt and i also talk with the owner of xara on a weekly basis and even he says stay away from stuff that makes it look like the old shirts that have been made before and come out with a stylish new surf / skate style soccer shirts... because not all skating shirts have skateboards and what not
Help? 09-07-2007, 04:15:PM No, what i mean is that you don't have to change the design or the writing. Just put in like a shade of a guy doing a bicycle kick for example somewhere in between your letters. In a place where it won't stand out very strong, but still be visible. Sort of like "And 1" has, it doesn't have to be big to take up half the shirt, that probably won't sell well. The modern soccer shirts don't sell because their designs suck, they either got a huge soccer ball taking up half the shirt or they got like some reall big player drawn all over it. Of corse those won't be popular. But if you use the same design and still putting in what i said, the shirt won't become unpopular as a result and maybe will sell even more because it actually relates to soccer.
Why not put in a small dark shape of a player kicking a ball, right in the middle of the G to make it more related to soccer. Otherwise, its like i said, its just regular urban style shirt, which goes against your objective of creating more soccer related shirts. Its not like people that play soccer only shop for clothes at soccer stores, so why do they need another skate/surf shirt when you can find those everywhere? See, you went right about starting your business, by targeting the market that's really weak, but once you got to it, you went off track and changed it to a strong market that has too many competitors as is. I'm sure that you can come up with some cool design that will be related to soccer more than just with a word. Soccer shirts don't sell because they are uncreative and ugly, but if that was really you making that nutmeg strip, then i see no reason, why you can't come up with an image that has to do with soccer and will look good.

nutmegapparel 18-07-2007, 03:56:AM any more suggestions??
Dante_1901 18-07-2007, 10:11:PM You should try the retro style ... you know like the Toffs ones, historical soccer shirts (to name some : Brazil '50, Argentina '86, England '66, France 80s) ... when you see a shirt like that, you think of soccer right away :

For example, the adidas originals clothing.
